For those of you who managed to get him, congrats! Those of you still working on it, good luck!

I spent several hours in trade trying to get a group together...first group I get, one dcs in BRS (no one is attuned of course), two of the others get stuck behind the gate during the arena event (yeesh!), so they leave group on me, so I have to start all over again gettin a group.

Second group! Hey, we make it to BWL this time! Sadly someone else dced again, so we were tryin to 3-man it...didn't go so well...we almost made it to the end of the first boss, but I got killed, then the DK got killed and then the pally was toasted. There went that group (tho the pally was kind enough to let me know that if I went in again, he would join me, he was 79 and almost 80 so I let him finish off his lvl first).

One of my friends comes on! Yes! She's a pally tank, thank Primus! So I get her in the group, keeping in mind the other pally. After a bit more advertising in trade, I get another pally (healer lol) and a DK. I reinvite the old pally (he just made lvl 80) and we head off again! First fight goes completely smooth! Or so we thought...but the boss bugged out after the last egg was destroyed and blew us all up lol. So we run back in again and get him the second time. We head to the second boss! Goes well! Get him dead, but I'm haulin tail to the stairs, as everyone suddenly starts dying. I end up the only survivor, heh. But the group stays with me and we continue on!

Well, we continue on slowly...thanks to that 80% speed debuff...yeesh! Worse part of the instance I think! But other than that, no one died. We start takin down the 3 mini bosses, no problems there.

Finally! We're at his room! I swear, I can hear angels singing...but most of the group has never been to BWL (they know why I'm there, but they don't know the raid) so someone lets Chrom out of his cage and starts attacking him! Crap! I'm yellng thru the raid warning to stop attacking him! It takes a lot of shooting from me, but I do eventually manage to get Chroms attention again (after I blew my CDs on attempting to tame him earlier but someone attacked him) so it was a slower tame! He almost killed me, but the healer threw a quick (and apparently agro-friendly heal) on me, and FWOOSH! SHRINK! He's mine! It was a moment of glory! It was awesome!

So after cuddling my new dragon dog for a bit, we move on and kick some Nef arse. Goes smoothly and we all get the achievement. Woot! I paid everyone I asked for in trade 200g each and we went our merry way. I did not pay my friend...instead, I spent today going back into BWL with a druid healer and pally tank and helped her tame him on her hunter. Dragon dogs for everyone!



I'd like you to meet Ryu'Theros! In game, it's RyuTheros since you can't have special characters, but in my head it's Ryu'Theros...kinda randomly made it up (tho Ryu does mean dragon in Japanese)

I got my guild to go with me; some wanted RP clothing/armor set pieces, others wanted the achievement, so we had a nice little group of 7 or 8 of us. It was all going smoothly until we got to Chrommie for the first time. I started taming, but my friend's succubus somehow pulled aggro (even though everyone else was out of the room), I died once I regained aggro, and then Chrommie tore through the rest of my friends. It took about 20 minutes to get back into order, but the second time I tamed him without a hitch.

He still needs a name. ><

Wow that sounds like mad effort.

I went in with a bunch of guildies - maybe six or seven of us and we didn't even take a tank.

Slowest part was the supression room as we had no rogues. But I just played Eye of the tiger and pretended we were doing super slow mo montage raiding. Good fun. I also picked up Maladeth sword from the boss at the end of that room. It looks way cool.

We blasted through the entire place, got to Chrommie's room, I pulled the lever and hit tame beast. He bit me once or twice for a total of about 4k damage and then he was mine. Then we mauled Nef and it was good

The reason people die from the second boss is the debuff he puts on the tank. Afaik, it's un-dispellable and when its timer runs out, it kills the person it's on and does pretty massive aoe damage; it'll also jump to other people if the tank dies before the boss goes down.

Anyway, congrats on your tame.

It took me 2 days. First group killed 3 bosses then disbanded. We didn't have a healer and used 3 spirit beasts to heal.

2nd day my healer kept having issues and we had to get some members of the group attuned.

Someone pulled the lever while my pet was out. I couldn't pull aggro off so we wiped it but one of my guys got transformed so we had to wait 3 minutes or so. Some of them entered early and got killed by chromagus early. It was horrible.

I ended up getting back to the boss with my guildie told him to stay out of the room and I hit tame. I think it took me over 2 hours with all the issues we were having.

I remember the nightmares from vanilla wow in a 40 man running away from the group to hide behind a pillar because you were 'the bomb'

I was over near the instance, found someone who remembered that I was looking for a group and asked if I still wanted in. The guide-tank asked me how much I was willing to pay-the other guy must have told him I was offering for a run. I offered 300g. Jerk said no, that he wanted the shield more-which mad no since as he was a level 80 ICC-geared already. Ended up offering 500g as a last ditch effort-not even half what I had but still any more I wasn't willing to do. He accepted and let me in. We ran in, me, the tank and two pallys.

Instance was already saved-and Chromaggus was the next boss. I run up try to start, and the idiot pally runs in and tries to kill me. Me tank and the other pally are yelling at him to stop. I have to give the idiot a lesson on how hunters need to hold aggro to tame. Also had to lecture the tank cause he tried the same thing!

We wiped. I ran back in, used cheetah on myself so I could get there before the idiot. Ran up into Chromaguss face and started a tame. Didn't pop a freeze trap, knew it would work, but did use my draenei heal on myself, just in case. I'm geared at 2950 on wow heros-but didn't want to take a chance. Didn't even loose half my health.

Got my beauty and was so thrilled. Couldn't pick a name for awhile. Named him one thing-I cant remember what it was-and then changed it to Baskerville. He's the first of the new pets that I've leveled up to 80-I just couldn't put him in my stable I was so happy to have him.

Asked my friends if they would come BWL, they all agreed and it turned out one of them had a raid lockout who was saved to Chromaggus! So I just rolled up and tamed him.

After having nothing but bad luck I finally got him!



The day the shattering launched I was ready to find a group and moe through BWL to get this guy. HE was going to be my first and main cata pet. Since most of the people I knew on warcraft were busy at work I had to find a PuG to get this guy. All I was met with was "Chromeggus can't be tamed he's a dragonkin" and no matter how many times I told them and even LINKED Petopia's page to them they were too stupid to listen. It took finding a Hunter several days later that had already tamed him who had a priest alt to get into BWL. It was tricky as the place is but once we got to Chromie I had NO issues. Priest threw on a bubble and I tamed The best part was at the end ... Neffy's fight.. Neffy took out the tank, the healer and the other two DPS leaving ME and Chromie. He broke my bow so I was left with no ranged weapon. With Chromie tanking like a mighty beast and me meleeing like a n00b hunter we brought Neffy down.

And yes. I named him "Chromie" I know it's far from creative but it's what I've called him so it's the name he was given.
(and no it has nothing to do with the bronze dragon )

Got my Chromaggus last night. Found a PuG in trade doing BWL for the cheevo, told them I'd like to come along for the tame. They scoffed and joked as we 10 manned our way through BWL. We got to Chromaggus, I tamed him, and suddenly it wasn't funny to the group anymore. I had a two headed dragon dog, they had humble pie.

I named him Hades. I found it amusingly appropriate.

Good luck to everyone else out there looking to tame this big guy!

Tried to get past the first boss last week but kept wiping, most of us couldn't use the orb and the boss kept breaking MC early. My guildy knew I was after him, and suggested we put together a group on Monday night. Killed the first boss on our second try, and didn't realize we could skip bosses so we killed everyone up to Chromaggus. The biggest surprise was the red drake, he was holding 177 gold!

We finally get to the core hound's cage, I'm feeling the rush of having him in my sights. We hit the lever and he rushes out at me, tame beast 4 second left, and he runs off! I keep trying to tame him but it fails. I decide to give him a good whack, grab agro, tame beast, and an eternity later the loud leveling effect sounds and he shrinks down to size! So intense having such a mean looking beast next to you, none of my other pets compare anymore! I'll be running through Cata with him for sure until I get Samba or the fire turtle.


By far my new favorite Named him "RocknRolla"

I even run around instead of mounting up just to have him by my side!

Does anyone know if there will be any other mobs with his skin in Cataclysm? Even if it's a rare-spawn lvl-85 or a Cata 5-man boss, I'm really hoping Blizz gives us an alternative to trying to get through BWL to tame him.

I kinda hope not... makes it feel kinda special, gathering your friends together all for the single purpose... plus, it's a BOSS - just the fact you're taming a boss is itself epic.

...It just somehow wouldn't feel the same if it was some random trashmob.

I'm pretty sure there are more Drakeadons in some of the upcoming Cataclysm 5-man dungeons, if I recall correctly. Not sure of tamability, but they could easily be flagged.

Well, not everyone's able to do a BWL run. I'm currently guildless, and I don't trust PUGs ^^; Besides, it shouldn't take the thrill away from the person who got Chromaggus himself to see someone else with a "common" Draekodon. You got the king, after all
