Crappy Groups

It's damned easy to hit 80 in all blues, either from instances or questing, especially as a tank. There's no excuse for it outside of laziness. They don't need to be purchased if you're on a budget. It's not that hard to build a tanking set by tanking and questing.

Actually it's not as easy as that- I ran several dungeons repeatedly on my paladin when I decided 'screw it I'll dungeon scrawl as a tank'

Do you know how many times tank kit actually dropped? I got to lv 76 and half my gear was from lv 71-72 questing or worse, the lv 70 tank cobalt kit. Hell I was forced to buy gear/have it made because when I hit 80, half the crap I could run for, and needed desperately never dropped. So yeah it can be that hard to get the kit you need via dungeon scrawling as a tank- and just as hard to do when you don't know what quests give what.

It really depends on your luck, honestly, that's why RNG sucks. You can roll a dice 100 times and there is a chance one number will never crop up; no different for gear.

I'm not defending the lazy people as you are right there ARE lazy people, I've had to HEAL them and my god it is horrible, but for the rest who aren't lazy? Gearing up can, frankly, suck burnt brownies.

And yes I know tanking is the most gear dependant role but people, you're forgetting, once upon a time way back when, when Wrath was still new and people were in freshly dinged 80's and there weren't many BoE blues around or being sold and all that, most people weren't decked out in the greatest of the greatest gear, for the entire group. But you could mostly still manage- atleast for the easier dungeons. I'm just saying don't slack people or imediately call them bad because of their gear as Caim, Coal and Sendeni are my proof that gearing up can be quiet hard. Aslong as they're keeping aggro it shouldn't honestly matter >_>

RNG *can* be bad, but that's why you make a shopping list and farm particular instances - even the non-heroic versions - until you get what you need. It *will* drop eventually. Whether the investment of time is worthwhile is another story. The drop rate goes to zero if you don't try.

Then you weren't questing in the right places. Once you hit Northrend, you can easily get a good enough set of greens just by hitting the early questing areas in HF and/or BT. Dungeon drops are nice, but there is ALWAYS an option via quests.

That was early Wrath. That's comparing apples and oranges. Freshly dinged 80s can get tossed into a heroic group with people in full ICC gear. You can't hold aggro off that, especially not in crap sub-80 greens!

No offense, but all your toons are proving is that RNG isn't reliable in dungeons. You could still go grab the same quest rewards that I mentioned previously. Gearing up OPTIMALLY can be more difficult than gearing up, but that does not make the entire process hard.

This is the point that I was making earlier. If a tank is turning up in heroics with sub-80 greens, he's no better than the tank that you just mentioned. In early Wrath, this was still the case, since the heroics couldn't be powered through by overgearing. Players still had to meet the basic reqs, or they were going to get trucked. I know a tree druid who leveled to 80 and ran heroic Gundrak with a ton of level 70 epics still in his gearset. He got one shot by the last boss's impale. It wasn't that he wasn't capable; his gear just was not intended for that.

I just finished tanking a PUG and let me tell you, I sucked. Everything I used to do pre-4.0.1, namely spam Swipe, no longer works. I can only sigh right now. I have to learn how to tank as a Druid again.

BTW, I had 10 members in my 5-man PUG because so many players left during the entire Sunken Temple run. I can only feel pity for the guys in my future groups until I learn the "new" way to tank.

Aww, that sucks. :/ Everyone had to relearn their characters after 4.0.1, but there's more pressure on tanks and healers than on dps.

I believe lacerate, demo roar, and faerie fire are a bigger part of the rotation than they used to be, but I haven't been a bear in ages, certainly not since the patch, so I'm a bit out of that particular loop.

Don't worry, you'll get it ironed out. And if worse comes to worse, you can always ask your dps to cc for you as you relearn the ropes, just so there's fewer mobs running around. Besides, everyone will be CCing again in Cataclysm anyway! Good practice.

Just tamed Shadowclaw, so I decided to give her a test-run in a dungeon and ran Heroic Trial.

It was going...okay, I guess. One dps stood in the poison during the first boss event (sigh) and the healer warned them 2-3 times to get out of it. They did not. The person died. They didn't complain, but I guess it made the healer kinda crabby, 'cause they turned on me next.

Paletress spawned for our second boss. I was excited; there are a few things I'd like to get from her, if I could. So I said, "Oh good, Paletress, I need her."

The healer goes, "How about you increase your dps and stfu."

Um...what? Where did THAT come from? I didn't have recount up this run, but I know for a fact I was doing everything the same that I always did, sooo dunno where the cause for THAT little comment was.

I said they didn't have to be so rude, it was just a game. They did not respond.

But wtf man. Wtf. Just...guh. And I actually felt sympathetic for the healer, up until that point. -_-;

Wow. I would've been like "Keep that up and you'll be the one having to DPS and heal and tank at the same time. I can tell you right now, NO group would take your attitude like that, no matter what job you're doing."

I hate it, though, when the tank or healer is being a douche or a dumbass and the others in the group are like "Oh dont say that! He's the tank/healer!" when you call them out on their asshattery/stupidity. Dude, I dont care WTF they are.....if you act like a tard more than once or are totally rude or telling me how to play my class, you better believe I will call you out and I'm not afraid to initiate a kick either.

Yup, a level 77 pet, plus not all my gear was top form (I could still use a new trinket, plus shoulders and belt, and Marrowstrike would be nice if it dropped too).

Also, while I'm not ICC geared, I know I do fairly decent dps for a person solely geared by instances. And funnily enough, I toggled recount before the final boss and took a peek. I had the highest overall dps, and varied between first and second in individual encounters with another dpser.

Seriously...lack of logic. I would've pointed out the obvious to them: Lvl 77 pet, not max level gear and whatever else(missing enchats/gems). so seriously...would've told them to kiss my rump if they were gonna have an attitude. I never tolerate such behavior, pug or not.

In this case, ignoring it was probably the best solution, just to get through the instance. Some groups are very delicately balanced and if there's too much animosity (even in self-defense), the group will fall apart.

Yeah, I decided to stay silent other than a (very polite) 'no need to be rude.' The group already wasn't handling the best it could, and I just wanted to finish the instance.

But then, I tend not to be an instigator, so I probably wouldn't have started a self-defense fight anyway. >>;

I was doing an Old Kingdom run (amongst others) yesterday for rep gain, and had a good pace (with a guild healer & tank). One of the randoms apparently took ages to load so we were halfway to the first boss by the time he starts running. I notice a green debuff appear on his party frame and his health steadily going down... yep, he managed to run straight into the spider that walks from side to side before the first doorway (we'd only cleared one of them on our way through). He complains about us not clearing enough and we choose not to call him careless; after all, anyone can make a mistake.

He zones back in just as we're clearing the last pull before the first boss. Shortly thereafter I see another green debuff on his party frame... which begins a long tirade of how bad we are for not clearing trash and not waiting for him and how everyone knows to clear both spiders and and and and and and... at which point our healer finally cracks it and tells him maybe he should look where he's running instead of being busy typing at us. He left shortly after that. We didn't object. I didn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling about pugging in Cataclysm where CC will be the flavor again though...

I got a crappy group early this morning for SFK. This mage was bitching the entire time for NO reason, especially about our healer(pally who was doing just fine, I might add). Just nagging on the healer the entire way, especially about our healer using HealBot instead of Grid. We get close to the last boss and I lost it(I was already not in a good mood due to ANOTHER death of a friend but thats another story). I just went OFF on her and was like "ENOUGH! Just STFU already! You've been whining this entire instance for no freakin reason! The healer is NOT a n00b for using an addon that helps him do his job! Just because it's not one that you use doesnt make him a fail heals! Unless you're healing, then STFU about how he does it! It doesn't matter what he uses as long as it helps him get us through the goddamned instance!"

The mage shut up after that. I got a whisper from the healer, thanking me for sticking up for him. I told him it was no big deal and I was already on edge as it was and people like that mage really piss me off, especially since a lot of the best healers I know use HealBot.

Though the healer let the mage die on the last boss. It was amusing. I /highfived him. The mage had it coming and deserved to die.

PoS. Tank in 187 blues. No gems. No enchants. Health dropping like a mofo. He and a few others got 30+ stacks on Gharfrost.
