Waptor Twapping

Unread post by Rawrg »

I've been messing around with trying to tame a tiny sunscale scytheclaw in the Barrens. With the quest Waptor Twapping you get a trap that shrinks the raptors and catches them within the trap. The timing seems to be about 1sec from when the raptor hits the trap to when it is shrunk.

My thinking is if the tame can finish as the raptor shrinks and despawns with any luck the shrink should stick. I haven't yet seen it show up as a debuff with any sort of duration which leads me to believe it's a permanent change to a model that only exists in the game world for a brief moment.
Using a mix of frost traps, positioning so the raptor has to run around environmental objects, and speed potions I've managed on 2 occasions to tame it at NEARLY the same time the shrink trap finishes. The trap even is sparkling meaning the raptor is trapped and ready to loot. Both of the tames I did the /script PetAbandon() method, logged out and back in etc etc. Both times the raptor came back aggresive, and alas, both times normal size. On the bright side both times I managed the tame the shrink visual hadn't actually triggered which makes me think my best timing is .1-.3 secs off. I'm starting to run out of speed potions though and was wondering if anyone else has taken a few stabs at this and what their results were.
The best targets I've found are the ones around the little raptor camps, they dont move very much and you can confidently place a freeze trap infront of them.
Have been mixing in the core hound buff as well between potions, 10min cooldown is a pain though.

This one seems a bit of a longshot - why? Because even if you managed to get the shrinkage to "stick", I'd think it would be overridden immediately by whatever makes pets auto-grow as they level... best you might get is for it to skip the initial size scaling, but grow to normal size next time it levels...

Well, I'm trying to get them as they despawn into the trap. They only sport about 300hps and I cant think of a way to get them to die at the same time they shrink & the tame finishes.
*Making the Beast vanish with an Item.

Some beasts are involved in a quest, that has an item that will make the beast vanish, the only known beast to do this at the moment, is the Oil-staned Wolf. We are in desperate search for an item that will have a vanishing effect on all beasts.
I dunno, mini-raptor sounds cool to me. It shrinks to the size of a mini-pet so even at double that size it would still be a pretty tiny dino

problem with this is is coding lets say when we tame a beast the coading tells the new tamed pet to go to scale 70.

The quest however tells the raptor to go to scale 10

So after taming it may go to scale 10 but it shoots up to scale of 70.

The next problem is even if you do manage to tame it is the fact each lvl your pet gets you pet gets a bit bigger so if it dose work and you get it small then suddenly it dings lvl 71 the new coading will tell it to grow to Scale 71 instead of 70.
