Yeaaaah....if nobody knows the fight, then damn, don't bother. Just leave. If they can't get through Garfrost the rest of the dungeon is going to be terrible and you know it. Better to just beat it, or vote kick him.

I just reached 80 on my mage, Taysha, about a month ago, and haven't been playing on her very much recently, due to going a bit pet-crazy on Cerah, and gearing my also recently-80 warlock, Emielee.

About halfway through Halls of Stone, I think I was doing okay, considering my gear isn't the greatest. I'm AoEing to the best of my ability, nobody dies, and dps isn't the most demanding job anyway.

The healer, a druid, uses DPS counter (my least favourite addon)

When I come up 4th from the bottom, just above him, he starts just bitching and complaining for the rest of the dungeon "why are you fire, n00b? Arcane's better" (and yes, he did spell that in leet. loser)

He wouldn't shut up until the tank yelled at him to concentrate on his own job, after the tank almost goes down fighting trash (he was only saved because he was a pally, and healed himself)

I hate this. I just hate it when people rag on you because of your choice of talent tree, just because it's not whatever is considered the "best"

I got this on Cerah all the time before 4.0.1. for being a Beastmaster with a devilsaur as opposed to MM with a wolf, and now it's starting again on my mage. I happen to like both beastmastery and Fire, I'm still doing decent dps -- even if I'm not doing the most, the enemies die in a decent amount of time and I'm not being carried by any other group members. I do my job.

I talked to my co-worker about this. He's been playing since the Vanilla beta, on an insanely big guild on Mal'Ganis that apparently was the first to take down C'thun. He says whatever talent tree is considered the "best" has changed pretty much every patch since then, and not to worry about it.

I wish people would just mind their own jobs, and leave me alone. Last time I checked, they're not the ones paying for my account.

Cerah, your co-worker is right. I used to get flack ALL the time on Jetfyre(my kitty druid) and Taluwen(My BM hunter). But many of my friends and my boyfriend tell me to just tell them to screw off because there is no 'best spec' and especially with Cata, it's not about what spec blows more faces off than the other. This will be more about the player's ability to use their heads.

Agreed, it's all about how you play, not so much the spec. I remember one of my mage-crazy friends talking about how frostfire specs were the best patches ago. Now it's arcane. I remember people ranting about how feral druids were lolworthy, and then incredibly OP. With every new patch or alteration things change, but you can always play well regardless, as long as you're doing your job!

Don't listen to that guy, clearly he has nothing better to do than rag on you and disregard his OWN job Moron.

My personal favorite story was a mage that was giving the entire group some guff awhile back. I ended up targetting him and looking at his spec and whatnot. And after the 6th or 7th pull of abuse from him I finally had enough and replied "Yeah, others here have read those threads on EJ, and you appear to have screwed up your superspec that you stole from there." The guy ended up making a chain pull to wipe the group and disbanded from group just as it reached the rest of us. The irony was we killed the pull and had the reque screen up to get a new 5th member without missing a beat. His warlock replacement was very helpful, and made the rest of the dungeon enjoyable.

I love it when an attempt at being an asshat actually works out. We had something similar happen in Forge of Souls once...our tank pulled one of the packs of casters and then left the dungeon. Since that section can get pretty hairy even WITH a tank, I figured we were gonna die, but it worked out well; I turned on Growl for my pet and held a few mobs while we systematically single-targeted them all down.

It's kinda like an "EAT THAT" to the jerks of the world out there XD

Hee, I love when a group saves pulls like that. Had two tanks in a row leave a single ramps group in the middle of trash pulls. No one died because we pulled together and saved it.

Today's story comes from regular AN. One of the group members died falling into the water (I really hate that bug) and I went back to res him. The warrior tank went ahead and pulled the two mobs at the foot of the stairs, only to die, since I wasn't there. I ran up with the guy I resed, dropped my earth elemental totem, and healed like crazy. No one else died. The tank said "REALLY?" in party chat right after he died. My buddy who was with me on his hunter made a sarcastic remark "agreeing" with him - how dare I go back and res someone! The tank ran ahead after getting resed and pulled the last boss while several of us were still up the ramp. We barely made it in. The DK suggested that next time, the tank might want to wait before pulling. He replied that there wouldn't be a next time and the conversation degenerated into stupidity from there. Fed up with the drivel, we kicked the tank in the middle of the fight. The DK, who had already been offtanking quite a bit on some of the big trash pulls, picked up trash and the boss pretty well. The new warrior tank we got may not have been in the right spec/gear or something, because mobs ran around wild after he came in. At any rate, we survived and the tanking ring dropped. Poetic justice, since the original tank had stirred things up in the first place.

Moral of the story: spitting in the face of constructive criticism and pulling without the healer is a Bad Thing.

My druid is a healer. I am currently an absolutely awesome healer able to put up with all sorts of crap tanks do. This comes from:
1. Cloth-wearing tanks
2. DPS-specced tanks
3. DKs who had no clue what they were doing
4. Stupid pallies who refused to pull less than 8 mobs.

Ive been leveling up a warrior as Prot and around lvl 51 I was put in Stratholme. now most of the mobs in there are casters and close together. I tried line of sight pulling but all the dps would run in even after i said not to which leads to us pulling more groups and me having to charge to other mobs or taunt mobs far off. so the feral druid tells me im doing it wrong and says "let me pull" so I say okay and let him pick up the mobs (he did the same thing i did, line of sight, but yet no one started attacking before they got to him unlike what they did to me) then we get further into the dungeon, its going a bit better, and its a bunch of casters and no where to line of sight unless you back track alot. so what does the druid do? runs around like a chicken with his head cut off, pulls two more groups. miraculously i gathered them all up off of him. popped last stand, shield block, shield wall, gift of the naaru, and a stone statue cause idk wth the healer was doing and we were okay... until the healer gets a gargoyle on her. i run over and grab that as well and say in party chat "hey if youve got a mob on you, please bring it to me or say something, makes life hell of a lot easier." she says okay. next pull. she gets two gargoyles this time and doesn't come to me or say anything. so by the time i realize she's got mobs on her i charge over and she dies right as i cleave and revenge them. they vote kick me after the mobs die (we survived amazingly.) /sigh. i dont see how i did anytihng wrong, i simply asked them to do that for me so it would make my life easier. i probably shouldn't tunnel but it's difficult with a warr when you have some many buttons to use and cooldowns to watch. i haven't even bothered to set up power auras for my warr yet, a little scared to. haha!

You didn't do anything wrong. You just had one terrible group.

Sounds like an awful group, Striv - and they were possibly griefing you intentionally, since they didn't attack on the druid's pull, but did on yours.

Do you get shockwave at that level? I've been instructed by more experienced warrior tanks to just run in and pick things up (even casters) with thunderclap and tab-targeted cleave. If there are loose ones, use the silence on shield bash and other interrupts to pull them into the rest of the group. Charge the loose one and the melee will follow you.

These are just general tips; I don't think it would have helped much with that group. But it WILL help you on trash pulls where there's nowhere to LoS pull the mobs. Hope that helps!

All of these stories are why I HATE dungeons in WoW.

I was on my 80 hunter, my main, the character I play the most. I KNOW all my shots, my spells, my abilities.
I can trap (this was before trap launcher) and disengage out of the the way, use snakes, fire, ice, etc...

But my hunter "isn't geared epic enough".

Every single time I've tried going into a random (regular, mind you! not even heroics), I've had grief for not being geared enough. My hunter, at that time, was geared all in crafted blues. Decent enchants, decent quest reward trinkets, and my pets were always same level as me.

I NEVER pulled anything that was not intended.
I NEVER ran into a group of mobs "by accident".

I DID, however, not know my way around some dungeons, as I was new to them... which got LOTS of flack from people. So what! i don't know my way around. At least I didn't get killed.

I got SO much crap, so many insults, so much griefing, from idiots in random PUGs, that I won't do them anymore, unless it's with at least 2 other people I know.

Sadly, I'd love to get the bronze drake mount for my Warlock, but I'm afraid of what random groups will be like on that toon.

The worst thing is, I've grouped with friends and done heroics, without EVER having a group wipe! And recount has placed me at least in the middle of the group, if not in 2nd place, on DPS, so I can't be ALL that bad, can I?

I LOVE WoW, but dammit, instances make me fricken' HATE this game.

I wish we were on the same server, I'd run with you in a heartbeat, Suku. I hate it so much when people get turned off dungeons because of jerks. I totally love running dungeons, all my 80s have their Pugs just cause I enjoy running the actual dungeons.

My guildies and I have had a few experiences of zoning in (4 of us) with a pug that is nervous, worried we'll kick him/her because of poor gear/inexperience/low dps but... we never do. We offer advice (since we're all altoholics) if the person wants it and just try to have fun. But every time it happens, I get so upset that the person was even worried to begin with! It just shouldn't be like that.

Several groups I've had recently had tanks who didn't know the instances. No one batted an eyelash and we just directed as needed. They're honestly not all bad.

There was one group, however, that had a prot warrior queued in as dps with a dk tanking. It was Halls of Lightning and the dk didn't know the instance (yet he claimed to have been the first dwarf shammy; I'm guessing he was either full of it or race changed, which still means he was full of it). The prot warrior ended up running ahead and pulling packs "because it was faster" than telling the dk where to go. Sigh. I was a little annoyed at the dk's attitude and I wasn't having too much trouble keeping everyone up (though there were some close calls), so I didn't say anything beyond throwing up skulls on appropriate groups (which was faster than the warrior could pull, I might add). I was absolutely grateful for every moment I'd spent in that instance on Nas, because it made everything that much easier on me. I knew exactly where tremor totem would help, etc.

Sara, I tend to be more sympathetic to the pugs who worry about poor performance, but who are trying. If a pug underperforms by afking in the back or cops an attitude despite getting carried, I'll be the first one to kick them. Cause that's just ungrateful. >_<

^ This. Me too. I don't mind leading someone by the hand cause they don't know their way around but the moment they get an attitude with me, I'll give them the boot so fast, their head will spin.

oh dear lord yes, I've been lvling my shammy healer, she's only 55 but holy crap, every party the tanks either a retadin with a two hander, a war who doesn't know what dodge is, or some druid in kitty form, as far as DPS goes, I've gotten hunters who leave there pet on agro, mages who just spam that stupid arcane nova thing when there FROST and locks who refuse to soulstone the priest/druid/ me -tears hair out- plus things like a clothy needing a strength sword with a chance on hit bonus for the chance on hit bonus >< oh and this one retadin who had litterly 6 dodge... that was it, was in WHITE GEAR and blamed ME when we wiped after I was unable to keep him alive when he pulled 14 mobs at once in strat -facepalm- he was useing a one handed mace, no sheild no offhand ... just a white mace

EDIT: just remembered, have couple where two DPS would AFK /follow me.... I lead them through lava and got the stuck
