How to solve problems with aquatic pets
As a lot of hunters probably, I'd love to have a few aquatic pets - namely fish and other water monstrosities, like sharks, whales, or even frenzies. There is only one big problem that prevents us from taming them: most of this game is played above water, so we can't go around with sharks on the ground, because (lorewise) they would suffocate or (game-mechanic wise) they wouldn't function properly. How would you solve that problem, if you wanted an aquatic pet? Just say "magic" and let sharks and frenzies float in the air like birds (advocating with some spell from Vashjir - presumably a bonus for hunters from Erunak), or find any other ways to let us use them... or just let us tame them, but keep them inside the water, making them despawn/stay/die when tried to be brought out?

Fix'd
(I cant post pics from work. Any admin has carte blanche to fix that for me.)
Re: How to solve problems with aquatic pets
Maybe we could tame them but only use them in water areas like Vash..blah blah I can't remeber its name WATER PLACES!
The fact it would be compeletly wrong to see amphibians on dry land. But haing the chance to use them within water would be nice

Re: How to solve problems with aquatic pets
In the game "Perfect world" the 'hunter' class is able to tame aquatic pets, however they despawn when the player goes on land, and are summonable when the player re-enters water. So, the mechanics exsist, and there isnt any real reason why WoW cannot do something similar.
I for one have wanted a shark and an Orca pet since I first saw the elite sharks in old Azeroth and Orca's in Northrend. Now with the new seaturtle model, groupers, eels, etc, there are getting to be a nice selection of aquatic pets just waiting for Blizz to give us hunters the green light.

Re: How to solve problems with aquatic pets
I think they should have them in water only, it would be dumb for a shark out of water... unless it would be something like this:

Re: How to solve problems with aquatic pets
Give Hunters a level 85 skill (or even a quest) to obtain Aquatic Training. They can only be called out in the zones that make up the Vashj'ir area, Thousand Needles, Frozen Sea, etc. (highly submerged areas). Go onto dry land, and they automatically despawn.
I think I could see the best way to classify all the beasts would be:
Threshadons - Cunning Aquatic
Frenzy/Thresher - Ferocity Aquatic
Sea Turtle - Tenacity Aquatic
Eel - Cunning Aquatic
Grouper/Remora - Ferocity Aquatic
Sharks - Exotic Ferocity Aquatic
Orcas - Exotic Tenacity Aquatic
Sharks and Orcas make the rank of Exotic, as they are easily the most intelligent as well as biggest of them all.
Ability-wise (Sadly, it's mostly gonna be copy-paste of the land-based beasts, which is the best way for Blizzard):
Threshadons get .... Not quite sure.
Eels get a root called Wrap (same as Crab's Pin), but try to make them wrap around the target maybe?
Sea Turtles just get Shell Shield. It works.
Frenzy/Threshers get the Bleed modifier.
Grouper/Remora get the Armor debuff.
Sharks get Monstrous Bite (like a Devilsaur) for their Exotic Skill, and Roar of Courage for their normal skill.
Orcas get the Health buff (like a Silithid) but call it "Orca's Pride", and give them Demoralizing Echo for their normal one.
And no taming the Whale Shark!

Re: How to solve problems with aquatic pets
Perhaps eels would get something electricity related? In "TVLand" (translation: in popular fiction) all eels are electric, so some kind of paralise would pass. And I think we would need an exotic cunning aquatic pet. Seahorse or squid?

Squid wins there. Them buggers are CRAFTY!
Hmmm... what skills though?
Disarm for the "normal" skill, and hrmmm... I dunno for the Exotic skill.

Re: How to solve problems with aquatic pets
That could work for the normal skill. Exotic skills tend to be a cut above, skills normal pets don't get at all.
I suppose it could carry the +5% Str/Agi/Stam/Int buff the Shale Spider has.

Re: How to solve problems with aquatic pets
Why can't some aquatic creatures like sea turtles just waddle while they are on land? Sounds simple enough.
