As for your results, consider it good news; if the speed buff was permanent, your boar may have would up hotfixed, with the burning sensation probably being lost in the process.
Or I'm just being a pessimist - again.
Cute doesn't need an explanation.

Must've misread it then. Good to know it can't be used against players at least.Acherontia wrote:When I tamed it at first, it was doing damage to critters. It was NOT doing damage to me. It cleared on death.TygerDarkstorm wrote:
Was pretty sure I read that when someone tamed it, it was doing AoE damage to them and their pet. If that's true, then theoretically, you can take it in an AH and wipe everyone in there with it.

I picked one up shortly after getting the Lone Hunter. The EPL dog (Nathanos Blightcaller's guard dog) only does damage to neutral or enemy mobs that are attackable. Critters will get fried in close proximity, obviously.TygerDarkstorm wrote:Was pretty sure I read that when someone tamed it, it was doing AoE damage to them and their pet. What would that accomplish? It only does damage to neutral/enemy targets in melee range.
The point I have been working up to is; that there IS a difference between the "Abandon macro tames" and the "timed death tames". Some people seem to be lumping them all into the same basket, when they are clearly apples and bananas. I was applying that logic to other parts of the game to show how ridiculous it is. That being said...Azunara wrote:I wholeheartedly agree with those that find things a bit skewed with these methods. In normal circumstances, the game will overwrite those buffs to get rid of them. What people are doing though is using lag to trick the server and make it so it doesn't wipe the buff, or at least I'm fairly sure that is what's going on.
These pets are not meant to have them. Forcing them to do so isn't really the most legit thing ever. It hasn't been tackled yet because there are bigger fish to fry and it is only effects...but what happens when we start taking pets that have damage buffs and using those to trick the game. Then we have pets with a buff doing extra damage, and then it gets serious.
Don't get me wrong, I have the Oil-Stained Wolf. But...something about all of this just makes me leery of it all. I don't think it's right. There are people who can say it better than I can, but I just don't see this ending well. Word gets out and people get bitter.
A bit of palindromic wisdom:
"Step on no pets!"
Casual player.. don't raid, don't PvP. Suffer from extreme altitis
I love pets - combat or non.

Yep I did, but they r all stays in gray skin till death.Kurasu wrote:have you tried t otake them down in HP? The ghostly effect doesn't actually show up until they've been beat on a bit.Bubu wrote:IS it last (today) hotfix and there is no more "Ghost Wolves" in Ashenvile?
At least I can't see any... They r all gray even without any "ghost" effect in both wild or after taming
Considering I have tamed the Oil Wolf, Oil Hawk, Blue arrakoa carrion bird with blue mist, Lone Hunter with the knife in its head, and the BOAR ON FIRE (OOOWWWWWWW!!!!) and I never once used the Abandon Pet macro doing any of them... I don't feel dirty.Ollof wrote:The point I have been working up to is; that there IS a difference between the "Abandon macro tames" and the "timed death tames". I have the flaming pig as well...and I felt sorta dirty for taming it with the macro. It lost the sense of accomplishment I felt after taming GTSG, Oil Wolf/Bird SrS style, solo TB, AQ bugs and others Solo tames in the 6 years I have been playing this game.

Or even after:O)
Just checking, don't really planning to tame him.
Got 3 rare wolves in stable + one from Ramparts. Same story as with cats before:O(
Show of hands, who here specced MM, and reapplied Serpent Sting when Exploit Weakness procced so that your Serpent Sting and consequently Chimera Shot would get buffed for the rest of a boss fight? I could argue that those who did so were exploiting a bug and giving themselves an unfair advantage in DPS.manbear wrote:and if you say "an exploit is an exploit and I will have none of it!" then you need to take a good long look in the mirror because chances are if you've been playing this game for more than a year you have exploited, whether you realized it or not and whether it was a big deal or not.
