Reasons Behind The Name.

So I'm always curious why people pick the Toon names that they do. So I figured I'd ask you guys here the same question I ask a lot of my guildies --

How did you come up with your Main toons name?
(And I say main to save everyone from writing a novel, but if you have a toon with a interesting history behind the name feel free to use it.)



My main is named "SeitenTaisei" [Hunter]. It's the Heavenly form of my favorite anime characters from Saiyuki (which is based on the Chinese story Journey to the West.) I'm sure you can see why I go by Sei for short. Honestly I couldn't think if anything else to call my first character. From there I themed all my pets names with the anime, until I ran out of favorites.

My really fun toon was based off my friends fathers toon, named Ta. My friend was Minita, and I (since I'm a girl and there both guys) I'm Sheta

Well, Tyrii is the name of my new main after I started over fresh on Nesingwary. If I remember correctly, the name I based her name off of (I think it was Tyra?) meant 'battle-maiden'. I figured the meaning was suitable for a lady Orc, plus it sounded fairly Orcish.

[Azunara]

My main, Azu, is based off an old WoW webcomic I read that I liked that died, called Dragontouched. One of the main characters was a nether drake named Azuna. I rather liked the name, so when I wanted to start a druid, I chose that. Not surprisingly, it was taken, so I tacked on the 'ra' bit. And my interwebz nickname was born. Ta-da.

Lightfur, my tauren druid - I made him to level with my brother. We were going to have the names "Lightfur" and "Darkfur" with opposite fur colors, but Darkfur was reserved so he chose Darkring. We wanted to choose tauren-y names.

That's really the most interesting name... Most of mine have names that I got from Randomize, or changed slightly from the Randomize one.

My webname, I'm not really sure where it came from. *Shrug*

I am rather boring - I use the random name generator and add/remove letters until something looks right. My only exceptions are stuff like my pally who is named from the way my friends' kid pronounces my name, or my future worgen warlock where I thought "this would be a nifty name for her". Either way, there's no deep meaning or thought put into it.

Edit: one exception is my druid. She was always meant to be resto, so I came up with Echozoe, which literally means "I have life". I thought that was a good name for a healer.

I have visited the farm many times before and after his death. I have some hair from his mane, and one of his horse shoes. I always make sure I pay respects at his grave when I visit there now.

Yeah I've hardly ever seen a randomly generated name I liked. But I've seen many that were nice with just a little change. Sarayana, Iladra, Amandala, Aoani, Onoka, Cassara, Caylena, Sakara... those are all names that started as random names.

And thanks for the compliment, I am very fond of that name. I love that she's referred to as Echo too for some reason, it's a really cute nickname.

Totally awesome...tho I couldn't actually stand watching Cybertron after watching Galaxy Force (one of my fav bots got a gender swap!).

My main is Jazzimus...and it comes from...well, Jazz and Optimus, heh. Jazzimus Prime, yo! I could dig it...

It's also almost entirely original apparently...at least on the wowarmory, every toon in there named Jazzimus is mine.

I loved Vector Prime...kinda sad what happened...I liked Roots/Safeguard as well...and of course...Signal Lancer! Also Sonic Bomber...I don't remember his english name...I loved the GaoGaiGar references in the show.

Hehe, I think I've told this before, but I actually got the name Vephriel from a name generator years and years ago. To be specific I recall it was a Vampire Name Generator (put your name it, and it will give you a vampiric-sounding one). There was a last name with it as well, but I don't remember it. All I know is that I loved the sound of Vephriel and kept it in my head for use as various characters and screen names. Any game characters usually used the name Vephriel, but it wasn't until WoW came along that I really cemented it. :3

In case anyone's ever wondered about pronunciation, phonetically I suppose it would be something like veff-ree-elle. It sounds rather elven to me, so works well for a Blood Elf in my opinion.

I think one of my fav moments (in GF) was in the later part of the series on Giganolia, when Lori started chewing out Flame Convoy's butt (which was scaring the crap out of Nitro and Sonic Bomber), then Chromia started gettin into a fight with Lori (girl fight!), which then leads to Chromia taking off, Lori gettin pissed off and tryin to get Sonic Bomber to help her...which she then scares the crap out of him...I died during that scene...Here's a gif that goes with that...

Moore is my locks name, after Sonny Moore o.o

And my mages name is Caesium after an element that can spontaneously ignite at room temperature or something. I somehow came across it on wikipedia one day.
