Yes it is. Currently I think they're considered Dragonkin, but I wouldn't be surprised if they became tameable. You never know.

This is why we all need to hurry and tame Chro, so we can say we got there first.Vephriel wrote:I'm pretty sure there are more Drakeadons in some of the upcoming Cataclysm 5-man dungeons, if I recall correctly. Not sure of tamability, but they could easily be flagged.

Ah is it? I haven't been keeping track of dungeons and raids, I just recall the names of them.

(Prepare yourselves for an incredibly long story!)
Well today was a great day to be a hunter, got my ghost wolf, sword wolf, buru the gorger and this guy all in one day! Ever since the patch hit I have been clawing at the door to BWL like a cat stuck out in the rain.
Try number 1: my friend says he will help me and we (foolishly) try to 3 man it. (and im a lvl 70) After failing to get past the first boss we called it a day.
Try number 2: friends come back the next day and PUG a few more players. We blast our way through to Chromaggus. Everyone knew I was there for the tame and they all gathered into one comer as I pulled the lever. I hit heroism and free my trash hound and start the tame. Right when I expect to hear the victorious ding of my new pet, another core hound ruses in after him. Some hunter forgot to put his pet on passive and I lose aggro to the pet. Im shouting for everyone to dismiss their pets but now everyone is attacking him. By the time I get aggro again almost everyone is dead and im constantly losing aggro to the healer. Everyone but the other hunter dies. He gets up from FD and when he is killed, Chromaggus turns his attention to the healer just as he arrives to rez us and eats him alive…. the group broke up
Try number 3: this was really much of a try. We planned to come back later while we where still saved but realized we where too slow and the raid had reset.
Try number 4: now running with my guild, we blast our way through things and reach my dragon puppy no problem. During the journey there the raid leader informed everyone on how this would work and where told NOT to attack him. Don’t even look at him funny. I tell them not to move as I put on my stamina heavy gear and prepare to pull the lever. Suddenly I hear a monstrous roar and see a boss glaring down at me. I panic, hit heroism, abandon another core hound and start the tame. Fel Guard grabs aggro and everyone runs around aimlessly while I demand to know who opened the gate.
Try number 5. At this point im working on voodoo dolls for everyone who has messed up the tames thus far. This time I tell everyone to dismiss their pets and wait in the other room. I have a priest come with me to shield me and I tame him. After that I pretty much just ran around SW like a squirrel that just drank a gallon on Mountain dew, so happy I could hardly type. I named him Shiftdormu, the name of a bronze drake from a old fan fic =3 ill see if i cant get a few screen shots up of im tomarrow. ^.^

MINE WAS A TRULY EPIC TALE OF SWORD-FIGHTS AND MASSIVE EXPLOSIONS.
It goes like this...
I pugged into a BWL and paid the raid leader 400g to let me tame Chromaggus.
EXPLOSIONS.

these stories are fun to read. my taming of Chromaggus was pretty anti-climactic to me, but my solo taming of Magmadar....now that was epic since I left that entire room up to tame him

Re: Post yer awesome 2-headed dragon dog and stories here!
I love reading these too
congrats on all the tames and the names you guys picked out. And so, here's my own little story. Last week, a friend dragged me into the Lair to tame one for himself. Never been but I thought, alright, why not. Got in with 5 others, starting taking down bosses while reading about them at the same time, no problems, no clue what we were doing with only one wipe on the dragon blowing us up and we were even able to think the 'slow' room was neat.... for the first few minutes. It was a late night so we stopped at the three mini dragon bosses and finished it up the next day. My friend gets to Chromaggus's room, one tame later, boom, his. And I'm hooked, he's a lot prettier in person and his scales really do reflect. I want
So we finish off the dungeon and go our merry little way and next week is promised to me for the next tame.
Well, this week crops up, I was so excited, got another group of 8 friends together and went in thinking there'd be no issues at all. Yeah... one didn't know the way, got lost, another fell into the lava, two had to be taken the long way around instead of by orb passage. It just got worse from there, amusingly so in a painful way. Got to the slow room, half of us died, the other half were stuck killing whelps, the few who die can't find their way back and then, we all DC. Get back on, we're all dead save for the healer and temp tank we've made and we've been kicked from the raid and the group. Pulling ourselves together, we get back in, the few still going the long way and go through the slow room... again. By now I understand why others hate that room with a deep... passion when you have no rogues. We get to Chromaggus's at last, I tell everyone to back up to the door, gulp my haste potion, hit the lever and... hey, get back here, where are you going?? Ah crude, run! Ruuuun! He aggro's a friend's pet and everyone just scattered. I tried to gain aggro back by shooting him while my team-mates are screaming, 'Don't kill him!' Don't think I'm gonna one-shot this guy. Nothing, hit tame again, by now I've got 5 curses on me and tame doesn't even work because of all the spells. He slaughtered everyone, mutates one of the other players and stomps all over my pretty tauren face. So again, we dust ourselves off, pick up our dead bodies and again head back to the Lair, I have very patience friends with me by this point. A few of us get back to the room where he's standing, mocking us all, others are still trying to get through the slow room and I decide, I'm going to try it while we wait for the party to get back together. After telling everyone to get to the farthest wall at the other end of the room. Gulp another haste potion, run up to him and pray as I hit tame....

And he's finally mine. Everyone brought out their corehound pups for a dance party while we waited for the rest of the party to join us.

I decided to name him Prismatic because of the way light hits his scales

Re: Post yer awesome 2-headed dragon dog and stories here!
I had a friend/WoW service slave (she's the one I go to when I need something done!) who I demanded help me with my Blackwing Lair. She was at first confused, until I showed her why. "OMG NEED!" and we went in to do an epic 2-man. ... we died badly. Many times. Finally decided that it wasn't going to work. Fortunately, she discovered that a guildy of hers wanted the book from BWL so he could finish his AQ questline. We collected the boomkin, and after a couple tries, managed to three-man up to Chromie.
"Hang on," he says, "I'll get some more sand so we can be ready to kill."
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" says my Shammy friend and I frantically, and explain the actual idea for being there. So he grabbed his book, I got the ID, and he left. My ID stayed around after The Shattering!
My own story for the actual *tame* is a bit anticlimactic: "I walked in to my saved instance, opened the gate myself, and tamed without any help." Of course, this is with my 46k health tanking armor, so I wouldn't suggest it as a wise idea for most people.

Re: Post yer awesome 2-headed dragon dog and stories here!
Finally, Chromaggus is mine! (Though he is now better known and feared as Ormagoden the Metal Beast!)
I, my guildleader droodtank, and two other guildies, a holy pally and elem shaman, ventured into BWL. There were rough spots, as I'd forgotten I wasn't attuned, so we had to take the long route through the Spire (on the upside, I got Eye of Rend for RP loot) and more difficulties ensued when a misclick broke control on Razorgore and wiped us. After some more problems with the dragons - we'd forgotten you need more than one tank to handle Ebonroc - we nearly called it, but then remembered shamans could self-rez. So we headed to Chromaggus' room and "wiped", letting the shammy pop back up and pick us all off the ground.
The taming itself was tricky - it began well, but a Bronze flight debuff's stun (we were in such a rush we forgot to get sand to cure it) triggering right as a heal was made yanked aggro off me. Panic ensued as we tried to cleanse poisons, heal up, and figure how to get threat back on me and stay there. Taming attempts were spammed, but aggro wouldn't stay. Finally, in a moment of desperate insight, I tried a Distracting Shot and slammed Tame Beast, fearfully eyeing the Bronze debuff and praying the RNG was in my resistance's favor.
It was. I nearly cried with joy as that famous golden glow surrounded Chromaggus and his targeting circle went blue. As celebration, we proceeded onward to finish the job, and downed Nefarian so myself and the shaman could get the achievement. I even let the shaman get the head for the quest - I had what I wanted.
When we were done, I was so happy I tamed Chromaggus, I almost didn't care that Nef's class-debff breaking my crossbow cost me 45 gold to repair, or about the taunting that ensued on trade-chat about how he was "fashion-of-the-month" and how one guy's guild "had six hunters with it" when I (somewhat deservedly) bragged about it once I returned to Orgrimmar.

Re: Post yer awesome 2-headed dragon dog and stories here!
Greetings all this is my first time posting after ghosting these forums and Petopia for the last 2-3 years. My primary reason for doing so next to my Skoll tame, this tame was by far my absolute favorite. When first I browsed Petopias new pet skins available I nearly had a heartattack seeing that my favorite corehound skin of all time was finally tameable. It has taken me 2 weeks to get a couple guildies together to go tame him but we did it this evening. Leading the way I walked 4 other guildies with me through UBRS to get there attunement and a couple of them Jenkins. We then marched through into BWL on a mission to get me a chance at my new Core hound. Slicing our way through bosses like mad we pressed inwards. We get to Chrommagus and I began to tame my healer started over healing and broke aggro and my tame but I was determined. I began again and again meanwhile Chrommagus had killed 3 out of the 5 of us including the healer. One more time I try again my gloves are off cooldown I pop them for extra haste and tame and BAM I get him with 25% health left. Too make the entire thing all the better we then proceeded to walk in and smack the living hell out of Nefarion from which I looted Dragonstalker Chest and his head for the quest.
Now Dracolinos the Kingslayer of Feathermoon will walk proudly into the Cataclysm with his newest companion Dracomagus.

Re: Post yer awesome 2-headed dragon dog and stories here!
My own Chromaggus tame was...relatively tame. *shot repeatedly* Lost aggro early in because our disc priest reflex-healed when he saw me take damage, but after a panicky Distracting Shot, Uruloke settled down and let me 'rescue' him from Nefarian's Sadistic House of Horrors.

(Someone decided I really needed to be a turkey.)
However...my GM's alt was not so lucky. First try, warlock's felguard and third hunter's pet leap into the fray upon being debuffed, and warlock slaps a Curse of Doom on Chromaggus. He and I narrowly manage to feign out of the wipe, and we pick ourselves up and try again. Chromaggus hits him like a truck, and between that and playing aggro-tug-of-war with the pally trying to keep him up, we wipe again. Finally we tell everyone but healers, myself (for Uroloke's Hysteria) and my GM to stay back, GM pops Gift of the Naaru and finally manages to complete the tame.

My story isn't awesome, but it took me a few days and a lot of poking to get some friends together, including a helpful warlock to summon our healer inside who wasn't attuned, a good bear who knows the place inside and out giving directions as needed, and me after a wipe on the first boss, when we accidentally killed him and he wiped us all, to realize that my friend couldn't use the control orb, dismissing my pet and slowly destroying all the eggs. After that, it was a cakewalk to Chromaggus' lair, and the taming proceeded without a problem. I love my new chromatic core hound, Isamaru.
And I got the head from Nefarian too, so here's a couple of screenies:

Re: Post yer awesome 2-headed dragon dog and stories here!
Let me start by saying, I was Chromaggus' pet before he was mine. Now that I have your attention, me and a friend built a small raid where I was the sole hunter. We have farmed ingots in there in the past so it was a small formality. What was new to him was helping my hunter get tames, I prize myself at getting the hard tames alone. I have solo tamed King Krush and more recently the Blue Dragonhawk in Sunwell and Huhuran from AQ40.
We quickly get to Chromaggus' room. So we go in and from habit my friend starts tanking it off of me, me not knowing I had to have the pets attention (I solo everything) hadn't known any better and either did he. The rest of the raid was holding off DPS because they knew I was there to tame. Tame keeps breaking, after a minute or so of failed taming the raid starts taking a beating then it happens, Chromaggus lands Chromatic Mutation on me, I become his pet. I suppose he has tamed many many nubs over the years because he had me leveled and talented immediately and I quickly dispatched the raid. So I am sitting here with a 5 minute debuff on me while the raid runs back. I watch it tick down 5..4..3..2..1 *pop Deterrence* Start the tame, and the light envelopes my new pet Draekodon.

Re: Post yer awesome 2-headed dragon dog and stories here!
Tonight with the help of my wonderful guildies I finally tamed my dragon puppy! <3
And oh my god, he's even more amazing than I was anticipating. The chromatic skin is absolutely stunning to see in person while you move around and go through different area lighting. He's like an oil slick, slipping from shades of purple to blue to green depending on angle. It's a shame you can't really capture that through screenshots, but he's a really unique pet! I also adore his sound effects. His roars are like sharp peals of thunder and crackling lighting. I'm just head over heels in love with this core hound.
I named mine Astaroth, in demonology a crowned prince of Hell.
