And it's not affecting all levels, according to this:

Relax. If Blizzard wanted to nerf pet XP, I highly doubt they'd nerf it quite this much. It's just a bug, someone put a decimal in the wrong place, blah blah blah.
And it's especially annoying for those of us who won't be receiving Cata until January :/Slickrock wrote:But like Saturo said, it won't matter in two days. But it is annoying if you wanted to level your tanking pet to 80 before Cata.
Have no idea how you did it...BorntoRide wrote:Herbing does indeed level a pet. I was able to level Chromaggus from 77 1/2 to 80 in about 45 minutes to an hour , picking herbs in Scholar Basin.![]()

pet xp from regulars is same as for heroics, e.g. they were both nerfed.Bubu wrote:Tournament dailies, as same as ANY Northrend dailies or just plain run'n'kill lvl 79-80 mobs with your lvl77 pet not working anymore.
Full clean of:
Deathspeaker's Watch x3
The Valley of Fallen Heroes x2
Savage Ledge x3
Plus 3 quests from Shadow Vault, 8 from Tournament and some (20 min long) aside killings.
That's what my boar got at the ens of it...
Yep, just one bubble :O(
So can anyone confirm pet lvl-up from NON-heroic runs?
Otherwise it will be hours and hours of killing. Like back in old good vanilla :O)))
Only numbers r different...
Thanks so much for this-- I hadn't bonded, as it were, with Vanyel yet-- we'd just started "working" together, so doing what you posted netted me the level 80 Van waiting for Wednesday (I won't be online Tuesday, sadly) to see what Cat will be all about.Setanta wrote:That was my thought with a blue mage hunter, I ended up rethinking it, and ditched the 77 and walked into heroic violet hold, went off to the left a little bit and trap tamed a lvl 80 blue mage hunter in there.Arisia wrote:Adding in, running Tournament dailies to quickly level your pet isn't happening either. I tamed one of the blue Coldarra mage hunters that I'd always wanted and have run three days of Dailies with him... he is at this moment in time, two and a half bubbles of XP into 77.
And I do all the dailies, Vanyel at my side killing things-- except for my daily Chillmaw killing. I use a spirit beast for that one. Add in, when I am doing things where I can kill extra for the heck of it, I do it for an hour or so... and yeah, still just those two and a half bubbles...
I don't like doing instances, sorry, and I do not raid, and this *is* annoying; I'd wanted to level most of my mass taming at level 80 by Tuesday, and Vanyel was the last to go.
That's a great idea - I ended up doing the same just now.Setanta wrote:That was my thought with a blue mage hunter, I ended up rethinking it, and ditched the 77 and walked into heroic violet hold, went off to the left a little bit and trap tamed a lvl 80 blue mage hunter in there.Arisia wrote:Adding in, running Tournament dailies to quickly level your pet isn't happening either. I am starting to think this is either A: a glitch or B: not intended, because why would only NORTHREND nodes work? And why only at lv 80? Yeah I've forgotten to test it but I've kept an eye on my pets while spamming mining on my dwarf Harp and none of her pets benefited from her mining.BorntoRide wrote:Herbing does indeed level a pet. hmm, makes sense, so would this affect the xp we get from dailys. plan on doing some dailys monday night. then on tues turn them in for some quick xp. then heading over to mt hyjal.Slickrock wrote:
No, it's not a bug. (Well, the bug is the sloppy way they applied this change).
Pet XP has always been based as a percentage of hunter XP. So when they nerfed player XP in Northrend content, pet XP got nerfed as well, since it's a percentage of player XP.
And I doubt they'll fix it, because the goal was they don't want people leveling 80-85 in Northrend. There were far too many leveling guides telling people to level 80-85 in Wrath dungeons or ICC.
If they fix just the pets, they'll likely screw it up even more for Cata, since pets won't be based on hunter XP anymore, or they'll mess with the formula.
But like Saturo said, it won't matter in two days. But it is annoying if you wanted to level your tanking pet to 80 before Cata.

If you have Mining , that will work also. Blizzard added xp experience gain for gatherers in 4.0 or something.Bubu wrote:Have no idea how you did it...BorntoRide wrote:Herbing does indeed level a pet. almost hour and half blood rampage in IC gave me 1 bubble.
Not even talking 'bout lvl.
So yes indeed only herbalist can lvl-up pets fast now...

Yeah.Ryai wrote:If they were going to do something like this, wouldn't they have made it where pets get exp from quests instead?
You're ignoring the fact that only Herbalist Hunters are getting any real benefit from this. Miners, skinners or people who have non gathering professions aren't getting anything.Worba wrote:*Yes I know gathering is not exactly the same as turning in a quest however it's a lot more like quest turnin XP than mob-kill XP if you think about it....
