Re: Crappy Groups
So the tanks dead and yelling at us for not being there. I calmly state that if the group wants to do this boss, then I will stick with the group. So, I go up the stairs and rez the tank then run back down again...Tank runs back into the mob and promptly gets killed again while the rest of us are sitting around my campfire /e roasts s'mores. again tank cusses, so I tossed out a Vote kick with "Ass-wipe" as the reason. Hey, the tank got voted off "you are the weakest link, good-bye!"
Re-que for atank, and about min later we get one, a nice friendly pally who happily went after king dred. The rest of the run was smooth.

Re: Crappy Groups
I've finally made a simple rule to determine whether to kick someone:
Are they underperforming due to gear/inexperience? Then don't kick them, just have a chat.
Are they rude, AFKing, ignoring advice or being abusive? Kick them.
Take that, Warrior tank who spent Dire Maul calling everyone else "noob".
Take that, Pally tank who called the healer a c**t for not healing him through a 30-mob pull made by falling off a ledge and out of healing range.
Take that, mage DPS with full heirlooms who called out an untwinked druid 4 levels lower for not 'keeping up' on DPS meters.
I've done quite a few dungeons in the last week on my lowbie druid (now early 40s and just did Stratholme scarlet side) and have found a 90% nice ratio, which was a pleasant surprise. Of the remaining 10% probably half were just silent, and half were a bit annoying. I have votekicked 3 times (the ones listed above, although I didn't instigate the one on the mage) and felt justified each time.
One thing though:
Are Paladins absurdly OP as tanks at the moment? It's probably because I have no AoE yet (just got Hurricane, and typhoon is too annoying with its throwing-folks-about) but, I'm usually top DPS in an instance, unless we have a pally tank. A paladin tank, even without excessive heirlooming, does on average twice the damage of me (and that's usually 4 times as much as our lowest DPS). What the heck? I mean, as long as the run is a success and the group has fun, it's unimportant, but I like to feel I'm pulling my weight, you know?
Could be worse, I could be a rogue. Man, they seem to have a hard time in dungeons at the moment. I assume that's because they are a single-target class with a ramp-up time, meaning on trash they just don't have the time to perform.

Yep, prot pally damage is still powerful. It's rather annoying in PvP. And that's exactly why rogues have trouble. Feral druids too, unless kitty swipe's been lowered in level.Mockingbird wrote:Are Paladins absurdly OP as tanks at the moment? Could it also be cause of Retri aura? I know alot of paladins have been using it in favor of the far weaver Devo aura atm.Kalliope wrote: Yep, prot pally damage is still powerful. Anyways had a truly crap UK run last night on Harp. Came in after they downed the first boss, the druid tank was named 'Progirl'.... yeah she was pro alright.
We get to Doloran[?] and his little Vykrul buddy. THEN oh boy then it gets fun. She focuses entirely on Doloran as the Vykrul rapes us.
Second try; she focused entirely on Vykrul after wasting thorns on the DKs, who weren't even in FROST or UNHOLY presence, and Doloran facerapes us.
I almost wanted to scream learn to tank- but instead bitterly wept in a corner.
Aaaah northrend leveling. How I have not missed you >_<

Nah, their spells do quite a lot of damage as well. Avenger's Shield spam GO!Ryai wrote:Could it also be cause of Retri aura? Regarding the second boss in UK, the caster can't really be tanked. He'll always blast random people, even if the tank is taking the (weak) melee hits. If people were dying on the first attempt, something else was afoot. Not to say the tank wasn't a bad tank; it's just that that attempt isn't necessarily indicative of such.

I know he randomly blasts. But the second attempt Harp had 100% aggro then when the healer frantically healed me, the healer got all of it. Needless to say it kinda all went south after that. And sure they are weak but when you're the focus of attention and the tank won't even bother trying to growl the target off you :/

Ahh okay, that's the needed info then. Once the healer has aggro, well, it's almost always the tank's fault. >_<Ryai wrote:No no it wasn't that.Kalliope wrote:Regarding the second boss in UK, the caster can't really be tanked. Re: Crappy Groups
Anyways this encompasses all three ICC instances.
First was HHoR. Always seemed to end up with that first back then for some reason. Anyways group starts out okay, we get past Falric and I get my boots I've been wanting forever but gave up on due to cata coming up (lol). Then the wave that starts after Falric hits us and all goes down hill. Tank is going down steadily so I pull out Zevryn (Loque) and start adding his heal to the tank but the tank is splattered against the wall anyways. Everyone else dies so I FD and whimper to myself about Zev being mauled but yeah. So we try again. Tank goes down before I even have a chance to put up Zev's heal and it's from not lack of trying on the healers part either. Third time is the charm and we manage to get past that wave. We figure out the problem is that we aren't really focusing on a kill order, but leave it at that. I start to say a suggestion about that but the wave starts again so yeah. Then the dk decides to be a pest. I typically trap the hunters/mages whichever one is targeting the healer (if both are I pull one to myself and try to los or hope the tank pulls 'em over lol), but he keeps on breaking them out for some reason. The first few times I assumed it was a wayward click or something, but after that yeah...Luckily we pull it together after a bit and no one gets fed up and leaves. (And I topped the charts, which made me happy because usually I'm in second!) After that the instance goes fine.
Then I move onto HFoS right after that (haha lovely luck with the random dungeon finder eh?). Group is nice, and though I have a horrible bit of lag we get to the first boss no problem. And then in the fight I realize I am the only one dpsing the shards. And the tank, dunno if he meant to or not, is pulling the boss into the shards. Mind you these guys were all in better gear then I was (like ICC 10 man Heroic quality while I was barely ICC really) so I figured they'd know the fight. I mean there could be exceptions but hey, valid assumption right? Anyways we eventually get that fight dealt with and everything moves smoothly after that. I pull out Koren and manage to scare one of the group members due to his whole start out at normal corehound size and shrink thing and it was great.
Then I get into a HPoS that was already in progress. They were at the second half of the hill with the coldbringers or whatever those guys are called. It looked like two dps dropped or something, not too sure. Anyways so we go and tank just gets splattered because the heals leaves right at the start of the pull. We get one of the coldbringers down though and I save myself by FDing again. My FD button got a workout that day lol.Another dps leaves so we're down a heals and dps. So we que and that takes a while so one of the dps switches to his healer and has another person from the same realm invite him. So we get the heals and dps, and as the heals is still making their way there, tank pulls because someone said 'r'. Honestly I can't fault them for that, tanks are used to jumping in with the heals says 'r' but the thing is it was the dps that said it...so yeah. Lol. Wipe again but I manage to kite the other coldbringer to take him down and then FD to save myself from the angry mob left behind. Heals gets there and tells everyone to release, he can't get close enough to rez without aggroing. So they do. And on the way back in a dps falls down into the pit. I can't blame them for that, I've come close to doing it myself, but then heals ends up in there somehow. I don't know how that happened. After that though...well everything is great. Someone asks if we have a fishing pole to get them out and I say ' Nope. I do have my polearm and red ribbon pet leash though! Makeshift fishing pole ftw!' and get a good round of laughs out of that. Then we take down Tyrannus and all is good.
Haha wall-o-text. If I sounded loopy in that at all, do ignore it. I'm still trying to get back into a normal mindset instead of a 'OMG CATA!!!!!' mindset. Might take me a while. >>
Hey look, they announce Illidan returning in some form and suddenly I'm back. Hmmmm I wonder if there's a connection.

Re: Crappy Groups
I ended up bailing on a group early last night, which is pretty unusual for me. Three of the group members (dps warrior, cat druid, and resto shammy) were from the same server, and they were overall pretty rude. Had barely loaded into the instance and they were already saying "if you suck, leave now." They then proceeded to kick the tank, who was still in Stormwind, without giving him a chance to explain himself. Mind you, all I wanted was the last 700 or so rep I needed with Rakahen for my camel mounts, so I basically made up my mind to leave early at this point. A pally tank got queued in and we started. This was not a great tank. He leashed the first boss on the first attempt, which was vastly annoying, since he had dropped slowly. The dps warrior was considerably under the tank and was clearly being carried. The druid and shammy were okay, though I wasn't fond of their attitude. We downed him the second time and the polearm dropped. In a spiteful moment (since I'd gotten low a couple of times due to being grabbed, but the shammy was high on mana), I rolled need on it, though I already had the better-itemized axe from Deadmines, and won. But since the druid was at least overall basically keeping up with me in dps, despite still having a couple of 318 greens, I later handed it to him. I figured that the shammy was the instigator of the negativity, so maybe the druid was just going along with it. Did I mention how much I really HATE leaving groups early, no matter how bad they are? Massive guilt here. Sigh. Anyway, handing over the polearm eased my conscience before the second boss. I got my rep off the trash packs leading to the croc boss, but was wavering on staying, despite my earlier resolve. But then we fought the boss and I had a couple of really close calls. Deterrence saved my life from the double croc+poison combo, since the shammy was a tad late on the heals. Thanks to that and encouragement from my bf, I left after the loot roll. I can only wonder if they could finish the instance with the warrior getting carried like he was. I have mixed feelings about having essentially enabled the druid by giving him the polearm, but at least my conscience isn't bothering me in terms of guilt.
TL;DR - bad attitudes count heavily, so don't be rude to pugs.

Re: Crappy Groups
HOW do you have a tank AND healer die by standing in the same VERY SMALL patch of fire?
/headdesk
The only reason that ended well was because the Mage and I ran like cowards and feigned/invis'd when we were away from the group's starting place. Warrior got insta-dropped since the healer and tank died at the same time and Clamps bravely gave his life for us to escape to safety.
Overall it wasn't that bad, but I just... the mind boggles.

Re: Crappy Groups
It wasnt the DPS or the healer that was the issue...it was the TANK.
What went wrong? Simple.
1. Druid was trying to tank in CAT FORM.
2. I had to REPEATEDLY tell them to get their ass back in Bear form. I was nice at first but then I had to get bitchy cause he kept doing it.
3. Couldn't hold aggro to save his life. Who was really tanking? My fox, Liam. He was a champ.
4. A rare spawn pops up. We kill it. The rare dropped blue cloth pants. The only clothie in the group was the healer. It has Intellect/Spirit, etc. The healer is excited. Who else rolled on it? The tank. Guess what? The tank won it. The entire GROUP was pissed off. They nailed him hard for it. The tank just went 'Lol. u guyz r so bichy. god.'
5. That stupid timer wouldnt let us kick him....yet. We managed to get to the final boss, thanks to my Fox keeping the aggro off the healer. We get to the last boss and FINALLY we got to vote kick him. The Warrior took on the boss while we were waiting and by the time the Paladin tank got in, the boss had like 100hp left. Lol.
Just....good god. I want that bastard to never play wow again...seriously.

You can report him for that. It's called ninja'ing.Neith wrote:I was in the regular Lost city of the Tol'Vir because I'm trying to get better trinkets, we blaze through, mostly because I outgear everyone else, finally at the end the trinket I desperately want drops, and... the deathknight needs on it... and he wins. Re: Crappy Groups
That's not really ninjaing per se. More of a "dk doesn't know what's good for his class and will probably use a non-optimal trinket." So Blizzard probably won't do anything about this particular situation if it were to be reported.Taluwen wrote:You can report him for that. It does suck terribly, though. :/ I keep having to grump at mages going for spirit pieces and such, just to make sure the people who can actually use them get them. And this is with the stat simplification yet. Sigh.
I won't get into the clowniness of groups lately. I've been so terribly clowny today alone, I'm just not even getting started. >_<

Re: Crappy Groups
If it's in the Dungeon Finder then it's not Ninja'ing to Blizz (even low level when you can need on everything no matter what >< *tired of losing leather gear on her baby Hunter to paladins*) and they won't do anything about it. Raids with loot rules clearly stated in raid chat beforehand only.Taluwen wrote:You can report him for that. Which sucks since the system doesn't know who needs what trinkets. It's depressing it see that need light up when you need a trinket and then seeing it says "Strength" or "expertise" on it instead of something we can use, or in this case lose a great trinket to someone who shouldn't be able to need it. I can handle losing to a Feral Druid or a Rogue since they need them too, but a Death Knight?
