Ticketing unique looks
I had a question about all this talk about the newly found way of taming of new beasts, has anyone tried to ticket Lone hunter or the Ghost Wolf <3 , or the others? I know people have tried the Burning Boars (which i hope we keep) and the Spiders.
Thanks for the awwsome signature Pooksie!!
Re: Ticketing unique looks
Stop trying to ticket about this!
The GMs are CLEARLY in a position where they don't know what the devs think, and the GMs have no deciding power on this matter without word from the devs.
Furthermore, no pet is going to result in punitive action unless you both have it AND abuse a buff on it regularly.
If anything happens, it'll be the removal of the buff for ones that have been or will be tamed, or else the taming problem will be fixed at the source, but we get to keep the ones we have.
Seriously, guys, I know you want to keep your pets, but this hypochondriatic punishment-fear you guys have is completely irrational.
There's no precedent for Blizzard punishing hunters for taming bugged pets, even when they did it 100% on purpose.

Maybe moderately harsh, but I agree fully and I wouldn't change a word of this postTaso wrote:Stop trying to ticket about this!

While this was worded a bit harshly, I have to agree.Taso wrote:Stop trying to ticket about this!

We have a developer lurking here, so if something isn't supposed to be done, it will be fixed. There isn't a need to go putting in tickets for every rare you tame. Either the method is allowed, or it isn't. All those extra tickets are just going to potentially stir up a mess if the wrong GM gets riled.
Be happy taming pets, and let our lurker deal with it.
Heck, Mania and Wain know him, let them send a message to the developer.
But the picture of some folk here makes us look like Doby expecting another beating..

Re: Ticketing unique looks
I'm sorry if I come off as offensive, but the whole of this community seems incredibly scared of punitive action whether to their account or to their shiny pets. As a result, many of the same worries and fears have sprung up several times without any evidence for their existence.
It's frustrating when people don't rationally think about a situation, transposing past circumstances onto the present for comparative analysis.
In the case of Garwal(and every other pet bug ever), it's an unintended pet issue, thus, a bug.
It is a bug that is utilized specifically for the attainment of something unique, thus an exploit by Blizzard's ToS definitions.
However, Blizzard's RESPONSE to pet exploits in the past has largely been mild. When the exploit was non-disruptive(slime/hydra), they simply removed the unintended part from the equation, making it untameable. Problem solved, no bans, and they even help people get it back.
When the beast is unintended AND disruptive, Garwal, they remove the disruptive AND the unintended element, making him not have a talent tree and then also untameable.
No bans were given out.
In this case, I don't foresee bans unless someone has gone WAY out of their way to abuse the hell out of one of these pet buffs.

Re: Ticketing unique looks
It isn't so much as fear I think, but both a mixture of excitement and pre-dissapointment in case Blizzards decides to take away our newly tamed pets. I think many of us here wants to know what the Devs are going to do about this situation. I'm just mighty curious

Re: Ticketing unique looks
I would not worry about anyone giving us a hard time about sparkley pets.
I think in the long run it really shows how much our pets mean to us- the hunter. Think of the time many of us have spent trying to capture that unusual pet or rare, such as spirit beasts.
Much time and often disappointment. I was lucky to solo tame king krush on a lonely mothers day evening when I was looking for loque. This dyno walked out of the woods and up to me. I messaged 2 hunters in the area, one didn't want it, one didn't answer. I decided to try myself and assumed I'd die trying. For whatever reason, I manged to get him with almost no life left. It was one lucky break I'd never get again.
Here's a sad - or if you look at it unemotionally, a comical story.
Sometime after gondria and skoll came out, I would check the area as much as possible. I had room for one more, It depended on who I found first.
All I can say is that taming was first on my mind once I logged onto this game. One stable left, and I was looking for that rare. Although at any given hour, my mind would change as to who I wanted.
This one fine evening I was tired, but wanted to stick around another 20-30 min and then go to bed. I like mounts as much as anyone. I also look for the time lost drake, but don't really expect to find it. Not like I'd find a pet one day.
Then it happened. I see the TLPD. My mind races. No, I actually lost my mind. I went into auto mode. I went into taming mode.
Got it to the ground, got rid of my pet and began- or tried to tame it.
Something was wrong. But what? Well, I was half dead before it all hit me, but then it was too late and it killed me. Off it flew (probably laughing manically) . I never saw it again.
I've only told my husband this story and he doesn't play warcraft, so he really doesn't understand how hair brained it really is. Or should I say embarrassing! I'm just wondering how no one saw it. I think if they had it would have been all over the forums with a "LOL" subject line. One day I'll find it again, and at least I'm not one to make mistakes twice!

Re: Ticketing unique looks
Considering the way they've treated this sort of thing in the past, I don't think much will happen. Either the method of taming will be fixed and we get to keep all our pets, or only the ones with the buff feature will be changed. No one's going to get banned unless they really abuse it, and I very highly doubt any of us will lose our pets.
So really, try to relax. I'd rather we didn't clog the ticket queue with a bunch of the same question over and over when Cataclysm launches tomorrow and they'll have a lot of other things to worry about. (If anything, that'd be even more reason for them to not take action right away...so chill!)

Think of it this way.. we're all beta testing the taming feature and finding bugs in the game.

Re: Ticketing unique looks
I think the only pets that are any cause for concern are the hounds with the AoE damage which may be abused for rep farming or a small DPS gain and the bats/spiders/bears with the 15% to damage dealt/taken which I can see getting abused in battleground PvP and again for a DPS gain.
Even though I believe the gains from using these pets are slight at best within the big picture, they will draw min/maxers like moths to a flame and as they are DPS we hunters are not supposed to have Blizz will sooner or later do something about them.
The only question is if Blizz is going to use a scalpel or a chainsaw to deal with the problem.
As none of the beasts in question are unique skins I predict something along the lines of Blizz taking the quickest fix and simply making these specific mobs untameable in the future or changing the effect of the very specific buffs associated with these pets so they have no utility as DPS boosts.
As far as punitative action goes, I don't see anything game breaking about these pets or their potential abuses and think it highly unlikely a single player will recieve any kind of punishment for their use.
In the meantime, I think everyone just needs to take a deep breath, stop being paranoid like kids out past curfew, and enjoy our new toys till the batteries go dead

Re: Ticketing unique looks
Remember, guys, I've got a thread up on the EU forum (and a copypasta on the US for good measure) asking about these pets. Until the devs decide, there's no point pestering the (obviously clueless) GMs and possibly causing a ruckus.
Think about it--if the devs are sitting in a room deciding what to do, and a GM comes in, "I got ANOTHER question about these goddamn fire-pigs"--I doubt it happens this way, but you get the point. Keep it quiet and mature imo; they've already been made aware.
Speaking of punitive action--I had a guildmate recently, guy I don't know too well--one of "those" types. He said "Yeah, I got my other hunter banned for having the worgen pet." I said... "No, you didn't."
He didn't talk much after that...

I know, real helpful. I guess it could ahve been worse - you could have seen Skoll, and had the opposite reaction.
Here's to hoping for a Cataclysm rare to come your way!
