Re: Best pet for pvp?
A snare is a slowHowever, crocs have a slow instead of a snare,
And yeah--you can still drink, even though you have no mana, but eating is probably better yes >.< Nice catch!
I prefer the Chimaera's slow, because it is ranged for one thing, and it isn't physical so it can't be dodged. It won't penetrate CloS, but it will penetrate a Hand of Protection if for some godforsaken reason you come across one of those. And the Chimaera slow is something like 5 seconds out of 7 with talents iirc.
By the way, have you gotten the Chimaera to use the channeled attack without an actual target? I can't seem to make mine work >.>
Re: Best pet for pvp?
Thanks for the addon suggestions! I suppose plenty of people have those, and can see I die more than I kill. Hopefully that's about to change.
I had never thought of pretending to eat. I had been using carbonite's punk, but I usually only get a warning as they are already in my sight which didn't help. I have started to get the hang of pulling away from mobs when an enemy is near, rather than blindly hoping they would leave me alone (yeah right!) but never considered putting pet on aggressive, great trick!
So by hitting escape when I am hit while already in combat makes me target the player, but do I then have to send the pet in manually, or will it go in automatically? That's been my biggest downfall, not knowing how to send pet in when they were otherwise engaged.

As for Froststorm Breath, I'm not entirely sure. I know that one of the first things I did after 4.0.1 was tame a chimaera from Winterspring. Of course I just had to try the new AoE. It was horribly broken. My chimaera would hover in place when you ordered it to use Froststorm Breath. If you had a target for teh chimaera to go after, and the target was in melee range, then Froststorm Breath would trigger. However, if one or both of these conditions weren't met, your chimaera would hover in place, channeling the spell, but nothing would happen. So, that was hugely disappointing. My chimaera got stabled, and only taken out for PvP when I later decided to grind the points for a Wrathful rifle.
Fast forward to Pilgrim's Bounty, shortly after 4.0.3 or 4.0.3a (I can't recall). An online friend asked if I would be so kind as to run a couple level 80 alts through Sethekk Halls. Naturally, I said yes. By this time, the devs had made up their mind that Burrow Attack shouldn't be a tanking ability. So, I decided to stop by Shadowmoon Valley on my way to Auchindon, and try using a chimaera specced as a tank. When I first used the chimaera, I was pleasantly surprised. My chimaera never failed to cast Froststorm Breath when asked, and would even fly around while maintaining the attack. A day or so later, another friend offered to have me along for a heroic or two on her holy priest, since she was figuring out how to adapt to the changes to Chakra or something. I figured that I might as well take the time to level up my tanking chimaera. After the first heroic (ToC), we were waiting around in the now-empty arena for a tank. During this waiting period, I discovered that my chimaera could cast Froststorm Breath while out of combat. I'm sure my friend was as thrilled as I was when her priest was suddenly engulfed in blue flames.
Well, that was long-winded story. Long story short, Froststorm Breath was horrible when I used a snowy chimaera in early 4.0.1, yet was fantastic when I used a fel-skinned chimaera in early 4.0.3a
This leads to two conclusions. Either all chimaeras were broken in 4.0.1 but fixed in 4.0.3a, or the old-world chimaeras are broken while the Outland chimaeras are working excellently. I obviously need to pull out my PvP chimaera, and see if the beast will use Froststorm Breath now. However, I won't have a chance to even log on until Wednesday.

Cute doesn't need an explanation.

Re: Best pet for pvp?
But the snare is great for PvP, with or without the AoE--I couldn't get him to cast the AoE without a target though, it just lit up his mouth with no actual flame cast

Re: Best pet for pvp?
If you have the stable room, you might want to tame an Azshara chimaera (are they still alive?) and a Shadowmoon Valley chimaera, and test them.
Would anyone with Nuramoc please pitch in and let us know how how she's behaving at the moment?
