Is anyone else not wanting to level their 80 right now?

Unread post by Royi »

I played Cata for about 2-3 hours this morning, and about 15 minutes was on my 80, and the rest was leveling my newly created Goblin :-P

Anyone else have a desire to just level a noobie and leave the 80 for now? I have honestly done this each expansion,

For BC: I leveled a char to 70 while my Vanilla main is still at lvl 62,
For WOTLK: That BC main I eventually got him to 79 so far, but yet I leveled 4 entirely new characters to level 80 before him.
For Cata: I'm willing to start taking bets to see if I'll end up leveling my new Goblin Mage to 85 before my (soon to be) Goblin hunter.

maybe for me its simply "new expansion = new main character"

I know i'll level my hunter since I love them to pieces, but I dont know, I'm just curious if anyone is as weird as me out there besides Sarayanna who I know has probably created 10 new goblins and worgen already.

No, I'm with you--I've been having oodles of fun the last couple weeks with my dwarf shaman, and might not spend much time on my hunter until she hits Outland. The new old world is so nice and shiny; it's beeen a lot of fun going through areas I quested through 2+ years ago and seeing how things have changed.

What Magli said.

Started a random Tauren hunter on a server (and type) I've never played on before, and am really enjoying it! The new zones and dungeon progression has been impressively engaging, and I'm feelin' like starting over and learning how to use focus from level 1 is making it a lot easier for me to wrap my head around.

Plus now I have a whole new stable theme to hunt down. XD

Same here, my worgen druid is all sorts of awesome (despite my previous doubts about the female worgen model) and the new low level content is just too interesting. I'll get to the level 80-85 stuff eventually, it's not going anywhere and I'm in no rush :)

Yeah I figure I'll wait to do the new zones. When WOTLK came out I leveled a DK first, by the time I got to Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra, there were already higher level friends to occasionally help and people who knew where quests were already.

Made it a lot easier :)

I got annoyed trying to quest on Illidan (overpopulated server that it was)... so I jumped on my druid and herbed. And now my main is only level 81, but got server first alchemist again!

I'm in no hurry to reach 85. I'm having too much fun on my new goblin Shammy and Undead Hunter to really care about my other toons at the moment -- I only logged on as my main to pick up lil'Deathwing and get Old World Flying.

Really, there's so many new places to explore, why spoil the experience by trying to rush to 85 or get "realm first Whatever"? If you're in to rushing, all the power to you, but it's just not my thing.

Heck, it took me over a year just to get my main from 1 to 80.

There's some player in my main's guild that's level 85 already... And for what? So you can get stuck in the end-game grind of dungeons/heroics/raiding for another two years? Nah... To busy being the next goblin trade prince! :)

I started leveling my main, almost to 81 but with the amount of people in the new zones I'm just gonna start playing my hunter at the wee hours of the morning and save my new worgen and goblins for when the craze dies down. Therefore I'm breaking out my old druid and getting around to leveling her lol. With my luck she'll be 80 in a week, but oh well. I have hordies I can level after that. :3

Hey look, they announce Illidan returning in some form and suddenly I'm back. Hmmmm I wonder if there's a connection. :D

My newish Troll druid is early 40s now, and will be my main until it hits outland at least.

After that, I will play with my main (80 druid) and second (80 hunter), maybe get one of them to 85, but maybe not.

After that, try one or both of the new races.

Basically, I'll do what I can to make sure I'm levelling at a population density that pleases me - I remember TBC Hellfire all too well, with 5-man groups of people actually physcially (ok, virtually, but you get the point) queued up to take escort-type quests. As a side note, I was really pleased when people actually did that, instead of all just trying to ninja the Q giver as soon as it reset.

I haven't had that feeling, my main 80 (Veph) is always going to be my most important character to me, so she naturally comes first. I enjoy going and playing my Goblin and other new alts, but as soon as the expansion hit my focus has become Vephriel.

I'm really loving Hyjal so far, even though I've sort of chained myself into taming Terrorpene so I'm still at 81. I could be levelling faster, but I'm not in a rush. I'd rather take my time and enjoy the new content to its fullest. My fire turtle goal is just something I have to do or I won't be able to move on. xD

Eh, I should level my druid, because I want to help out and gear for instances....But I am really, really enjoying my warlock. >.> I'll probably let the crush die down, then I'll end up leveling Azu, and then worgen will come later, when I'm bored.

I can't go farther right now anyway, but even if I did currently have the XPac I'd probably still be focusing on lowbies.

I really love enjoying the storyline, paying attention to the surrounding area, etc etc. I get really frustrated and irritated when I have to compete with fifty other players all trying to do the same content, especially when there's certain mobs to kill or items to grab. I remember doing the DK starter zone with a friend of mine when Wrath first came out, and we were moving so fast I didn't get a chance to sit back and really ENJOY it.

So even if I had Cata right now, I'd probably still enjoy myself playing mid-level somewhere, or in Northrend, or whatever, and wait a few weeks for the rush in the 80-85 and goblin/worgen starter zones to die down. Then I can really get into the story without having to compete with others for mobs and stuff.

I agree here too. I am still in Northrend trying to camp for the illusive TLPD right now (usually only 1-2 other people are in Storm Peaks, both factions) so I hope that means my odds are up. Once I faction change I plan on working on Argent Tourney things again to get my Crusader title back and maybe another mount or two.

But TLPD first, then work on SALTY title (mainly need Mr Pinchy), then CATA ~For Main Hunter

I'll level my mage in between these things

For 80's who don't want to deal with the population emplosion in 81-85 content, there is always:

--Profession Improving, Skinning, Mining, Fishing, Cooking, etc.

--Archeology, which will need ground up from 1 in old low-level content zones to start.

--Tame/Kill old rare Mobs now that less are there camping for them (esp. Spirit Beats and/or TLProtdrake, etc).

I don't know, Hyjal on my server was certainly crowded, but seemed like there was alot of phasing, and a decent here, then here, then here questing design that broke up the mob of players somewhat. Dinged 81 last night.

I plan to quest at my pace till 85, max my skills/professions, max archeology, tame the three spirit beasts I lack (Acturis and of course Ghostcrawler and teh Spirit Wolf), then PvP for gear.

I've been ignoring my main for quite a while now, simply because there's not been a lot of stuff to do on her that interested me. Now, there's tons of stuff to do again, so out comes the main. Almost 82 and I haven't even left Vashj'ir! It's going too fast! =) That said, I did start a goblin and a couple worgen to play with as well. I wanna see everything!

I love how the phasing helps it so 5 mobs aren't targeted by 20 players as much. I felt almost alone leveling my Goblin (which made it go smoothly)

but...

Still waiting for my copy of cata, once I get it I might get my placeholders ready, pick their colours and faces and such, but I’ll wait a bit to play them. I have a Troll Druid and Warlock to play, and an Undead Hunter. The last I checked those leveling areas are pretty low pop. I also have a lvl 40 Hunter that I’d like to take through the new, improved Plaguelands. (I recently ran through there to get the worm pet, and had so much fun that I wanted to do it from a level appropriate perspective.) Other than that I’ve got a couple of things I want to do in Northrend :P But I probably won’t do much with my 80’s, too much fun stuff for the low lvl’s!
