No sambas... but a new spirit beasty... but I feel bad I do

I want Sambas, more then I've ever wanted another pet before. after camping for loque for months and finding him dead often ,I decided to pay this time, 2500g for him if some one lets me tame him.

so I'm flying around, hit my macro that tells general what I'm up to. and I get a whisper, 'it's not sambas, but Karoma's over here'

we all know the feeling, a rare, waiting there untouched, I hesitate, but said person goes' come quick, I have him taged but there's a horde here'

so any doubts vanish I rush over, freezing trap and tame him. I give the girl the 2500g for the trouble and she flys off. so I'm left there looking at this spirit beast

and it hits me full on.

I don't want him.

I just released gondria from my stable as I have loque, never wanted 2 spirit beasts as I don't use them. Never intended to go for this guy, never really clicked with the skin.... I don't know what to do... I don't want to release him but I feel bad that I didn't tell her to find someone else to tame him....

It happens, don't beat yourself up over it.

You can never tell how you'll feel about a pet until they're at your side. I've tried out various rare pets only to give them up later, realizing they don't click at all. You can't have known, and who can say they haven't felt the adrenaline thrill while coming upon a rare creature like that?

I'd suggest keep him for a little while, just to make sure he doesn't suddenly bond with you, but honestly don't feel guilty. He respawns, others will get him, and it's not as though you tamed him with any sort of ulterior motive in mind.

this is true, I'll probably chill out with him while farming skins for a bit, I want to want him you know? I just hope he click's with me

so I just pulled him out to see if I could love him, and he caught me off guard, the sounds of his growls really clicked with me, I feel like he's a ghost watching over me as I fight silly as that sounds, but he's staying for sure

I'm planning to start a topic when Cata has been out a bit longer just to hear peoples stories, what became their new favorite and who did they not like.

Currently I use Sambas the most and I wasn't even planning on taming him ever :p

Yeah, don't feel guilty at all. Fair is fair and you tamed him - even if the Hordie wanted him, at least they have a spawn time now, and to be honest I'm pretty sure 99% of hunters would rather the spawn go as a hunter tame than a pointless kill, regardless as to whether the other hunter keeps it or not.

As Veph said, give it a go, but certainly don't feel bad if things don't mesh between you and the pet. I guess it sounds really silly but to me the pet is a huge part of the fun in playing my character. It can make or break my dps, playing with a pet I like or don't like. I'm sure it's similar for many hunters. No foul in testing something out.

I had this happen to me with Ainamiss. From the first day I heard about her, I wanted her in respect to our Mania. And I had her for quite a while.... but she just sat in my stable. See, I also had a Silithid Swarmer, and even after they became common (and I told myself I'd release it if they did), I couldn't give it up. Bandersnitch had totally and utterly bonded with me, and my big, pretty Mania... well... she never did. I ended up releasing her. And it was one of the hardest things I ever did, because I *wanted* to want her so much!

It's always a risk, I think, for people getting rares. I don't know about other people, but I always get that sinking feeling in my stomach that says 'What if I don't like it?' *every* time I tame one.
