New Tamable red Corehound (old skin, just higher level)

I didnt see this listed and my crazy self felt like getting myself killed.

Smolderos the Carbonizer is Tamable.

He hits like a TRUCK, but he is tamable. He is an 82 elite Red Corehound wandering around Darkwhisper gorge in Hyjal. And from what I can find, the highest level corehound you can tame.



If this has already been noted, I apologize, but I had not heard anything of it and couldnt not find any posts about him.

Hee, we've had a couple threads about him (here, and here).

I have no idea how one would get him, but I daresay that would be one of the hardest tames in game to pull off! Would certainly be exciting.

Oh really? Haha! I had only briefly perused the threads in the past and it seemed as though it would be quite the difficult encounter. ^^ Congrats on nabbing him! I'm sure that was still a thrilling tame.

Searching 'Smolderos' brought the other two results up for me, but no worries, the Pet Discussion threads in particular sweep by so quickly these days it's easy to miss.

Well, I tamed him again to get a screenshot, this was as close as I could get to show me still alive as tame beast fades. XD

Actually, Smolderos is trappable I remember someone talking about him many many days ago, so I went down and dropped a trap at his fewet. *shwoof* Simple!

Especially for me, he'll probably be my rading pet of choice, because my Worgen Hunter also has white fur.

As far as pets going when I'm out leveling or just running around? Sambas... hands down.

Does Smolderos have the standard core hound sounds of heavy stomping and bonfire flames?

is this guy phased? ive done every quest in hyjal. i remember a giant core hound somewhere but not darkwhisper gorge. im flying around where it shows in the screenshot and i cant find him.

I don't know, Minifig. Chromaggus, for me, beats Kurken hands down. No offense to the white puppy. But I love my Chromaggus' sound effects *SO MUCH*.

I hadnt done the very final quests when I tamed him, I will go back and check for him now that I have completed Hyjal and report back

Can someone confirm this? I haven't been in BRC for quite a while. If you're going just by Wowhead, then they're probably incorrect; they list a lot of things as tameable that aren't (yet).

I think when I beast lored Beauty she came up tamable.....but I don't remember for sure. I was more saddened that I couldn't tame one of the bigheaded pups.

It was confirmed in one of the latest patch notes

The only patch notes I could find that mentioned beauty were:

Beauty in Blackrock Caverns can now be skinned.

Skinned =/= Tamed. As much as hunters who see rare pets as corpses wish it did!

EDIT: Went to BRC. Checked Beauty. Still not tameable.
