Re: cursed tiger from uldum
I got my shiny tiger from the Lost City of Tol'vir instance. It's really easy to do - just go in by yourself on normal mode, pop a freeze trap ideally on the patrolling catman, cast tame from a distance and when it's done either dismiss/fd, just fd and let your cat die, or run out. A hunter friend and I both went in and got our cats at the same time at level 85, I have 100k health and he had ~85, and we both survived easily (as did our new pets).
Good luck, those cats are absolutely *gorgeous*, I couldn't be happier with my Flint.

What are these tigers called? (Looking for both names.)

Unless you are level 85 before you start questing in Uldum, you will have to get yours from the instance, as the ones in the area disappear after you do a series of quests for the King.
The entrance can be found here, circled in green, if you have not yet been there.

A fellow hunter and I ran into the instance just by ourselves and the cats are off to the left and right right as you walk in. There is a pack of 8-10 of the Tamed Tol'vir Prowler (level 85) sleeping and one of the instance's mobs there on either side. Circled in red here.

Pick a side. Pick a beast back up as far as you can and still be in taming range and start a tame. Once your tame pops-and if you have not yet been killed by the rest of the tigers, feign death and then run out while they attack your new pet. I didn't even bother with traps when I did it and survived.
Having someone to distract the others or a tank to pull all but one away from you would help-but a fellow 85 hunter and I did this by ourselves without dying the other night.
Good luck getting them, they are truly gorgeous cats and I have not seen many hunters out there with them yet. The photo on Petopia doesn't show the way this tiger glimmers, which is one of the neatest things about him to me.

This tiger is gorgeous. The name of the Lost City one is just Tiger I think. It has a really glossy coat that the screenshots do no justice. I gave up on trying to get Simbas for now, but I'm just as happy with this beauty at my side to represent the cat family. Imagine that, a pet you can rave about without it being a rare.
I got one of these from the instance yesterday. It's very easy to do solo. I just went in looked to the left, threw a frost trap down between myself and the mobs and started taming the closest one. They all came running at me and the humanoid mob got caught in the trap. I didn't take too much damage, and after the tame I ran into the entrance room with the quest npcs and dismissed my new tiger (who was valiantly trying to defend me at this time).
The mobs won't follow you into that room, so the safe zone is right there without even having to leave the instance.

I love my black panther Nemaeus, but as soon as I tamed this beastie I fell in love. They really are beautiful. Nemaeus is still my "main man", so to speak, but I'll definitely be pulling out my yet-unnamed tiger as well.
