Anyone else: New Rares kinda' ehh...

k' first & foremost I don't have the expansion yet, but I've seen videos & model viewer pics etc. of the new rare pets, & for me personally I think they're kinda "Ehhhh...."

None of them really appeal to me at all, which I know means more for you guys & helping those who do want them, but anyone else feel this way about them & don't really plan on taming any?

There's certainly a few that don't hold my interest at all. I don't like the lion model on Sambas. Just very odd looking with the large head and vapid expression. Karoma isn't my thing as I never saw the appeal of the ghost wolves personally, and Ghostcrawler likewise isn't something I feel the urge to get. Jadefang is pretty, but I can't click with Shale Spiders as pets at all.

I love Terrorpene and Madexx though. ^^

I love how everyone has differences in the pets they love. I can't get enough of Ghostcrawler and I'm more likely to die from exhaustion than give up on Sambas. Madexx however has to be one of the creepiest models yet, I appreciate how realistic they made the scorpid, and because of that I recoil in terror! Little scorpions are cute but he's so big and scary. I've run into him a couple times and I always whisper the hunters in the zone to find someone who wants him.

As for Jadefang, I really don't like the green colour. On top of that, the first time I went and hit a shale spider in Deepholm and heard that electricity on chalkboard sound come out I pretty much decided they would not be the pet for me. I picked up a purple one to harass my tank buddy with (and I suppose for the buff but when are there not paladins around), but it'll be the first pet to go if I get low on space.

Karoma is simply a trophy tame and for that reason I'll probably leave her until A) I find her and I'm the only hunter able to tame her in the zone, or B) the end of the expansion when most people have moved on. I've never been a huge fan of their old wolf model, but I will admit she looks sort of fancy.

Where Terrorpene is concerned, I'm not really a turtle person and...he has a hole on his nose that drips lava :/ and holes creep me out.

You know, as much as I've loved scooping up the rares, I do sort of see where you're coming from.

I love that they gave some unique models for non-BM hunters. Terrorpene, while originally not really one of my "must gets", has changed my opinion on tenacity pets and I love him. Karoma made me smile to see the ghost wolf available again and I'm happy I picked her up. Since the quests in Uldum I wanted a lion cat so I was happy Sambas was tamable! To me, Ghostcrawler completed my Spirit Beast set, and Madexx is also just an addition to my rares collection, albeit a really funky one lol (still unsuccessful there though).

If anything... well... I'm sick of Spirit beasts just becoming ghost forms of old skins. I'm not even asking for complete remakes like Loque was (ignoring Harkoa), but even sort of coloured models with cool edits like Skoll? What about a tribal wind serpent with feathers or something? Anything other than just ghost pets...

For some reason, the first pet I did tame once I was able to was Sambas. I love the regal look he has, and to be completely honest, I was getting tired of wolves. I only used wolves during Wrath for raiding, and it was time that I moved onto something else. Terropene and Madexx have found their way into my stables (and part of my heart) because I just love using those two pets for tanking when I'm doing dailies/questing. And their unique skins really set them apart from the rest. C:

As for Spirit Beasts... I personally like Loque and Skoll more than the 'ghostly' ones. Though, I do like Karoma, the only reason I'd be taming her is to have told my guild that I've tamed all the rare spawn pets so far in Cataclysm... minus the multiple colors of Madexx (which I will NEVER camp for again...).

Jadefang has also found a spot in my stables, though I'll probably not use her much because I don't go BM enough. And the only reason I /had/ tamed her was to match with the little companion pet I had gotten a few days earlier.

At first, I was 'ehhh' about the rares. Then...I saw Terrorpene. Same thing with Sambas, and Jadefang surprised me by being far more attractive to me than the other colors of shale spider. Still not sure about Ghostcrawler, because I haven't had more than a glimpse of him as a pet.

Karoma I'm only ambivalent on taming because I have one of the old ghost wolves, or I'd be on that like syrup on a pancake.

I am rather dissapointed with Ghostcrawler...although given the name, I can see why they choose the ghost model...but, its just...meh to me...you know, if they took Ghostcrawler and made him with the camoeflage graghics, then it might be a bit more appealing. but Gondria's, Artcturis and Ghostcrawler dont really appeal to me at all. I would like to see more original models like they introduced with the two turtles, and Loque. And certain pet families need some more love...there are two many cat/wolf models out there, we really dont need anymore.

I'm not a big fan of Madexx or Jadefang at all. The others I will need to get but I haven't seen any of them alive yet... I do have the time for the last Sambas death though!

Yeah. The Northrend rares - I'm like *squee* (STILL no Skoll) and Rain the Death parrot is something of a party regular. Sambas is alright and I wouldn't turn away a blue or green Maedexx if I ran into 'im. Karoma just doesn't do it for me - though I am happy Blizz brought the skin back for peeps (It broke my heart we couldn't get one for my friend). Ghostcrawler makes me giggle, but I wouldn't care to camp for it. Strangely, I didn't think I'd like shale spiders but I love the squeaking and YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAA charge into battle. So I think I will camp for Jadefang. Competition be darned...

I thought I'd love Karoma, but after seeing the spirit wolves in action in Ashenvale, I'm not keen on him anymore. I prefer the old lions over Sambas, and I don't like any sort of bugs and creepycrawlies, so Madexx leaves me cold.

I wasn't impressed with Terrorpene, but I love the new model Ghamoo-ra got. The colors are beautiful, and the model is such an upgrade to the old turtles! I adore his animations and pet emotes (which I assume are the same as Terrrorpene's) and together with the black striped sabercat (Shadowclaw) and the foxes he's the best thing for me to have come out of the expansion so far (pet-wise that is).

Maybe when the next expansion comes I might tame Karoma to see if it clicks anyway, just like I did yesterday with Loque. I simply don't have the patience to spawncamp rares for long, and I can't really be bothered fighting other players over them, so I'm glad that the only two rares I desperately wanted, Ghamoo-ra and Shadowclaw, are easy to find.
I haven't seen many of them around either (not a single Ghamoo-ra), they don't seem to be that popular the poor things, so I'm happy to give mine a loving home.

Terrorpene struck me as 'AWESOME!', but I'm a turtle hunter. Many, many, many years before the 'I like turtles!' meme my goal was to get a hunter pet turtle, a riding turtle (this is before the sea turtle you see), the turtle minipet, and a full set of turtle scale armor, just for a screenshot. I've *always* liked turtles.

As for the rest, Jadefang I want only because he's my favorite color of the shale spiders. Karoma is pretty, but as a spirit beast, I would be choosing between him and my Arcturis, and I think he would lose. Same with Ghostcrawler. Sambas, I *love* the model, but I'm not a cat hunter. I'd be happier if he was a mount. .... oh wait! I'm set! Madexx... I would never use a scorpid, and so getting him would be because of the skin. I still look for him, though. If I find him and the color appeals, my mind may be changed!

All in all, even if I don't want many of the rares, I have to say that I'm very satisfied with how they look and appreciate the work that went into them. And there'll always be next patch! ... I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope...

I tend to agree OP. The only new rare that I was giddy to tame was Madexx.

That said, there were plenty of non-rares that I have been enjoying, such as my green beetle, my yellow shale spider, and my blue jormungar.

Keep in mind I did mention that I don't have the expansion yet, seeing videos & looking at model viewer I'm sure isn't the same as seeing the actual pixelated animal in game... but like I said, none of the new rares with the expansion really appeal to me right now, & I honestly don't plan on taming any of them, but... if I see one up & a hunter's in zone, I'll whisper them

After watching a guildie tame Terropene, I must admit that turtle has it's charms. But, while it suits his character quite well, I don't think I'll ever camp it. The only new rare I can see myself camping would be Jadefang, for my troll. I absolutely adore shale spiders with her and would like to have the full set, at least for now. Maddexx and Sambas are pretty, but not for me, I don't think. I admit I somewhat dislike Karoma and Ghostcrawler....too see thru. So, just Jadefang then. And least I don't have to do a lot of camping!

Got Samba while questiong & Ghostcrawler within a hour.
As usual no camping. My theory still works - don't camp, just check locations time to time if you have a time.
Still don't know why I got Samba in my stable:O) Probably 'cos he was walking around for like 15 min and looks so lonely. And no one was rushing to tame him.

Ghostcrawler is just new add to my spirit beast collection. Still need Karoma to finish it.
Btw I love his model.

As for the rest of new rares... Not into scorpids. Or bugs or whatever.
Still need Terropene 'cos I love turtles and love this new model a lot.

So within spirit beast collections, turtles, pets with buffs, my old trusty pets etc etc...

I'm not into them either. I'm a huge fan of green, and I'm a huge fan of squee spiders, but that particular green is horrible and I went for the topaz one instead.
With the others... Sambas is another cat and I already have a couple that I neglect, Karoma and Ghostcrawler are far less cool than Loque (swirls are so pleasing), I like the Ghama'roo model better than Terrorpene, and scorpids are just pleh.

I'll probably tame all of them given the chance without camping, but...

Karoma is my least favorite. The more close up SS that I see, the less I like the look. (As with Gondria, I don't like that model either)

I tamed GC, but he's more of a trophy at the moment. But ya gotta tame GC.. just because it's GC.

I'm camping Jadefang at the moment, since it's a rare and only of that color. (And my wife's name is Jade... Jadefang is also a priority because of the need for a shale spider. I have other cats and spirit beasts, and don't really need a scorpion.

I'll certainly try for the others, but we'll have to see how they "fit".

I was a bit meh about Sambas, Ghostcrawler and Madexx from the modelviewer side and then the screenies started to appear as people tamed and I started to like. There's just something a bit more cosmical about Ghostcrawler than Gondria - who I never liked, never liked the bear either. Madexx was the last to win me over and I'm now semi-questing through Uldum and semi-camping for both red and blue. Sambas, well, I'm a leo and I've never clicked much with the old lion skin but I do like his model more. Even more so once I got to stand around and study the one with the King in Uldum.

Jadefang, bleh. I got a shale spider for the buff but I got a purple one because purple is my favourite colour.

As for Terropene. I love love love love him. I've always liked turtles and had one on my NE hunter for ages before having to get rid of him for other pets. So having a turtle back at her side feels right. Her dear Pryalis will remain at her side unless another pet is needed for some reason.
