Still goin Old School

Unread post by Jonmcslain »

I have an interest in a few of the new pets. I got Terropene witch I love and I'm scanning for Madexx when I'm in the area.
Its always fun to have npc scan to go off no matter where you are :P

I really love bringing out my old pets now, King Mosh, Ironback, Oozeworm, Old Cliff Jumper etc.. and especially so for the now extinct pets.

These pets seem to be just be like old friends that I have had many battles and leveled with. Now I get to experience all new exotic places and new dungeons with them. My Oozeworm swims like a snake! neat

Just tryin to give the Old School pets some love.

Timber was literally my first pet, and he's back with me now. And Suresh, my Deviate Moccasin, was (and still is!) my treasure. Panzer may have changed shells (Terrorpene instead of a Mudrock Spikeshell) but he's still Panzer, and I'll always have a turtle with me. A few older pets really grow on you that way!

Yay old school pets!

My main pet who is always with me (#1 on my call pet list etc) and the first pet I ever tamed, Karma, is a good old Teldrassil Nightsaber Stalker. I have a few golden oldies, including Old Cliff Jumper and a pink Silthid... my alt has her Wailing Caverns raptor. :D

I still have my Humar, whom I tamed at lvl 70 back in BC and leveled all the way up from 23 by shooting casters from range in Terrokar. THAT took some work. I had lot of good times raiding and running instances with that lion - he was with me at my very first Kara clear, which was a big deal back then. He's still sitting in my stable, probably very confused about suddenly being Alliance and being owned by a human guy (my hunter used to be an orc girl). ;)

I'm trying to re-tame Old Cliff Jumper, but I haven't had any luck finding him after the Shattering. I had him for a while when I was leveling, but eventually had to give him up (lack of stable space and the fact that Bite just wasn't cutting it back then).

Heh. Actually, all of my favorite companions more or less fit this description.

First is my brown lynx Rakeesh whom I tamed back in BC when my RL stated, "bring a cat to raid and do it tomorrow". I didn't expect any bond but it formed within minutes - all of a sudden I had a perfect name for her and was totally in love. She's my one and the only cat - heck, I won't even tame Sambas whom I find really gorgeous! If I need a cat in a raid or group, that will always be my plain-skinned beloved kitty.

Second is Freki the barking coyote. He's an old skin but a new companion of mine. I always wanted this pet but something always prevented me from taming it. So he became the first pet I tamed when we got 25 slots and... the third member of my wolf pack (a happy family, not jealous of each other at all). He's my current main levelling companion.

And then, of course, is my turtle Chapa. She's an old friend with an updated skin, as had chosen Ghamoo-ra when I decided I needed a turtle for soloing old content. Needless to say, I was very happy when her new skin was announced! And again, as with Rakeesh, I'm not taming flashy Terrorpene - I'd rather stick with a long-time friend.

Red Hyena for me. Nanakia and I are inseperable. I think he might be the only old school model in my game as the rest are from BC+. I had a hard time finding a pet that clicked, at the time, everyone either had a cat, a bear or a raptor. And plains striders didnt interest me one bit. So when finally got to the barrens on my young NE and saw a Hyena for the first time, it really clicked with me, then later in a SM run I saw the red ones and that was that. Nanaki and I partners for life!

I just recently retamed one of the purple sabercats from Winterspring. I've tried many different cats, but she's the one that clicks with Sara. I'm also completely infatuated with the Clutchmother (as you might have noticed). :)

I found myself running with my old pets while leveling, plus one recent tame who's really worked his way into my heart. *pets Pygmalion the croc* I still turn to Atalanta and Hector for instancing (very rarely do I bring anyone else, Ursa for tanking, and Orpheus for PvP. Nothing really changed; I just have a lot more babies to swap in when necessary. I will definitely be running with someone new when raiding, since we're likely to be running with dk/bear tanks. I'm not sure who it'll be yet, though!

I'm on the same page as Allua. Back at level ten as soon as my hunter got the tame pet ability, I decided I wanted to go to Stormwind. I did the usual took a boat to Wetlands, then ran to Ironforge when I was attacked and killed by a snow leopard. I ran back to get my corpse and found another (possibly the same one) not too far but it appealed to me so I tamed it.

Cheetaro has been my pet since 11/25/2004, and like Allua I won't even catch another cat - not even Sambas. Another pet I'm attached to is my corehound, Doomsday. He was Uvoros in Shadowmoon valley in BC, needed the help of a priest to tame him, and after 4 attempts I did. I would never replace him with Chromaggus.

However I caught a scarab, Imotep, from Uldum to tank in Twilgiht Highlands for me, getting warmed up to him. From 10 to 84 Cheetaro had been my leveling pet, this is the first time he's being replaced. he'll be back just sent him off to visit some family in Loch Modan (stabled).

My oldest pet is the one I've just brought out to BG with again: Lord Lakmaeran, the now-nonexistent blue & white level 60 boss Chimaera.

I tamed him at 70 or so and it was just plain painful, but after a few attempts I managed. He hit like a TRUCK, and had an absolute load of health. I remember how awed I was by him, and I still am--he's gorgeous, the new blue flame effect is great, and his kiting skills are second-to-none as always :D

Long live Talisman! <3

My oldest pets are Goreclaw from dustwallow marsh and the white bear from Dun Morogh (whatever his name is) from the quest near the north (or is it south) gate. You know, the one where he eats that missing dwarf pilot whose life you must avenge. Even though I have shiny new pets like Ghostcrawler and Chromaggus, I still bring out my oldies. Goreclaw always has a spot in my team, no matter what we do or where we go.

What about Snarler? He was the original "sought after" pet imo. :D
