A tale of three Spirit Beasts and a Crab

Unread post by Vorel »

I was a fresh dinged 80 huntress when i came across my first and most loved spirit beast,Loque'nak.I was actively looked, camped, praying for him that eventually i was able to tame him, thanks to a kind paladin that asked in /general before proceed to kill him for that stupid achievement.By that time Loque was the only spirit beast at the game. Then Blizzard introduced Gondria,Skoll and Arcturis. With exception of Skoll, whom i liked quite a lot to hunt him,i took no interest of the other two.Unfortunately i was unlucky. The one and only time i saw Skoll and attempted to tame him another hunter (alliance as me,probably frustrated because i hit "tame" 1st killed him in front of me).

Months passed and i was casually looked for Skoll. The Shattering happened and i proceed to level my Hunting skills. Was freshly dinged 85 by now and i was questing at Twilight Highlands with my all favourite Sjach (that is the name i gave to my Loque'nahak, means shadow as he was and is my shadow at my adventures) when i was lucky again.A kind Shaman asked once more at /general if any Hunter are interest for Karoma.I replied yes and rushed to her spot, while shaman have invited me and kindly said to other people that replied her that already found a person that is interested. That was my second spirit beast i tamed and named her (i always wondered if Karoma is "she") Ulhar aka blue as she is glowing blue.

And then it was when i decided to "catch 'em all" and the true story begins. While i did surveys for archaeology at Northrend i had a dig site at Valkyrion.I said to myself what the heck let's go and in the meantime let's check for Skoll.Well as you all may know by now,Northrend is like a ghost town, and behold Skoll was wandering at Harpies' plateau just below Valkyrion.I got a light heart attack but successfully dismissed my Sjach, laid a trap and tamed him.Now he is besides me named after his lightings Kepesk which means Storm.Few hours later and still while i was doing surveys two dig sites opened at Zul'drak. One was at Kolramas so i went there 1st.The other was at Altar of Quetz'lun,so after i finished up with the 1st mounted up and headed towards there. Then i saw her wandering around in the middle of my flying route.Gondria was there, quick land and dismissed my freshly tamed Skoll.Same story repeated laid trap (fingers crossed for none comes around and interrupt my tame) and bang,Sverak (darkvision due her glowing eyes) was mine.

I said to myself "wow you were lucky so far,why not try for Arcturis now?".I decided to finish my Zul'drak surveys and take a break instead. Two hours later i logged back in the game and head to Grizzly Hills.Went to Amberpine Lodge, but no luck.Took another break to go to the market and about 1 hour later i just logged back to see him standing next to me.Another small heart attack (i'll die young if i continue play this game).Long story sort,Sverak dismissed,Isk (means star reference to Major Ursa) was mine.Well three spirit beast on one single day was a big achievement for me even if i know that is a lot easier these days since none are after them.

The very next day with my active pet slots filled with spirit beasts i decided to go for THE CRAB.Parked Isk at my stables and head to Vashj'ir.Read up the forums here many times before i start my hunt (some of them twice or more) and finally start my hunt.(I want to thanks all people of Petopia's community here for the loads of infos and the amount of tips/screen shots/videos/guides etc they kindly share.)Thanks to all the people that cared to share their knowledge here i was able to locate and tame Hesjing (means water) within my first half hour there.

Now as a proud owner of all 6 spirit beasts i want to thanks all of you guys and girls for sharing such a huge amount of infos and experiences with people like me,keep on with good work and i apologise for my text wall but i was so excited that i wanted to share it.Happy hunting to all

Congrats!

Now here is the problem I have.

I have 6 spirit beasts and only 5 active pets slots that I can use. Who to take with me?

I suggest Loque, Skoll, Arcturis, the wolf, and Ghostcrawler. Personally Gondria doesn't do much for me.

I share the same dilemma with you Merlynshade, which spirit beast to keep always with me and which have to stay at my stables.Although Ellaran's suggestion is quite intriguing (though i prefer Gondria over Arcturis) i came up with a simpler plan to organize my active pets' slots. So i decided to kept with me always (and i mean always) my Loque'nahak,as he is my companion for nearly a year now and take turns on the other Spirit Beasts week after week. That way i will have always two Spirit Beasts active, while i can have also a tank pet for my solo projects and two trivial pets (for utility purposes).Though i am strongly lean towards to have Ghostcrawler always out when i will doing whatever will doing at Vashj'ir and the instances related with that area, hehe.

Skoll wins hands down. I filled my rare stable two days back with Madexx completing the six Cata rares but my pride and joy is having all six spirit beasts before anyone else on my server. WTB six slots to take the kids with me haha

I have 5 out of 6 Spirit beasts now after taming Karoma at 4 AM today. I'm only missing Arcturis who I have yet to see up. In order of getting them:

Gondria ------ now known as Shadowfang
Skoll----------now called DathShando (wolf spirit in Darnassian)
Loque---------called FaerDelu (deadly spirit in Sindarin)
Ghostcrawler--renamed Nerfbat for obvious reasons
Karoma--------named Wolfbane for now because I couldn't think of anything else

For looks I think I still prefer Skoll over all the rest.

I'm on the hunt now for Terrorpene and Sambas.
