World of Pokemoncraft
I've lurked for quite some time around these forums but never took the time to create an account, while I'm camping Jadefang, sitting here, bored to death, I'd like to introduce myself as I will most likely start posting and contributing as much as I can for the Rare Spawn community.
When my hunter first hit 80 in July 2010, I had no intention of doing anything but PvP. 4.0 came out and BM's effectiveness skyrocketed, so I took the liberty of finding myself my own Spirit Beast, Skoll. I camped him for an entire 30 seconds, it was pretty rough. After that, I thought, maybe since my MM pet was named after a Pokemon, I'd name this one after a Pokemon as well. I soon discovered an unknown addiction, I found myself camping day in and day out for all of the highest sought after rare spawns just to name them after Pokemon, how mature of me. I couldn't stop myself. I went on to tame all of the Spirit Beasts in WOTLK except Loque'nahak(sold it for 2k gold, wasn't worth it), naming all of them after Pokemon they closest resemble. Who'd of thunk a strictly PvP oriented player would even take the time to do such a thing, but I warn you all, if you chose this journey, you'll not stop until that stable is full.
Gondria - Espeon
Sambas - Eevee
Skoll - Raikou
Terrorpene - Torkoal
Madexx - Gliscor
Ghostcrawler - Kingler
Aotona - Articuno
Arcturis - Ursaring
I don't even play, watch or care the slightest bit about Pokemon...

Re: World of Pokemoncraft
I officially approve of this. :D
... Well, except for a couple of the name/beast combos. Sambas should be something like Luxray, not Eevee, as Eevee isn't really a cat. More of a fox. Though some of its evolutions have feline aspects. As for Skoll? I'd suggest something like.. Jolteon, instead of Raikou. Raikou just isn't canine-like in my opinion. Actually, my Skoll happens to be named Voltali, which is Jolteon's French name! XD (BUT, I do approve of the name Raikou on ANYTHING, as I totally adore the darn thing! *Huggles her Raikou* <3)
No offence meant by this nit-picking of mine. I just felt the need to point that all out.. Hehe. Sorry if I sounded mean or something like that XD;;;
(Also, I wouldn't say that naming pets after Pokemon is immature. I'd say it's awesome! No matter how old or 'mature' you are! Pokemon is a thing that ANYONE of ANY age can like! :D)

See.. I'd name Sambas, Raikou.. they're both Lions.

Surely you can see the resemblance here?

Re: World of Pokemoncraft
I named my Sambas Eevee because Eevee is the only Pokemon I could recall which had a mane. :p Plus, I only played Pokemon up to Ruby and Sapphire, I don't know any of the new names. Anyone have recommendations on how to make those awesome signatures, I'm not artistic but it just looks like a screenshot~ collaboration.

Re: World of Pokemoncraft
'Official name'? I haven't heard ANYTHING on the official name for them. If anything, they're Beasts. Not dogs. Not cats. Heck, they're technically BOTH. Like.. Suicune has the aspects of.. Let's see.. a Maned Wolf... A cheetah... A Unicorn (With its powers of purifying water)... Hmm.. I've always seen it to be similar to the Asian Lung Dragons, but that's propably just me. Anywho.. See? Not a cat or a dog, but both. And heck, even other things thrown in there too! And Entei is a Chinese Lion-Dog. Raikou? It's based on a Japanese creature (Who I can't recall the name of, but it's 'rai-something') that can turn into multiple animals, mostly the form on an electric beast of somesort (Whether it be feline OR canine). So.. Yeah. From what I've seen.. They're the Legendary Beasts.Taluwen wrote:Actually....Suicune, Entei, and Raikou are called Legendary DOGS, not cats. And thats an official name from nintendo.

Re: World of Pokemoncraft
Go look at Serebii.net if you dont believe me. They're considered Legendary Dogs as Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno were considered the Legendary Birds. I've played pokemon since it first came out. That was the nickname they were given. But lets not derail this thread. Pokemon thread is yonder...Senna-Umbreon wrote:'Official name'? I haven't heard ANYTHING on the official name for them. Re: World of Pokemoncraft
Serebii? That's for the in-game stuff, not the names of Legendary Trios. I'd suggest Bulbapedia. It's the site to use for things like this. Not to mention.. Legendary Beasts is the most commonly used and known name for Raikou, Suicune and Entei. And to be honest, I've never heard a THING on the official name for them. Whether they really ARE the Beasts is up to Nintendo, but calling them Beasts is the much more accepted term for them, as no one besides whoever created them REALLY knows what they're based on.Taluwen wrote:Go look at Serebii.net if you dont believe me. *EDIT* Also, I've just checked the Legendaries page for HeartGold and SoulSilver on Serebii... And what do you know. They're called the Legendary Beasts. Heck, even the news update for the event Shinies of them calls them Beasts. So basically, your arguement is invalid.

Re: World of Pokemoncraft
I've actually only ever heard people call them dogs in all official guides and even the unofficial ones. Their figures remind me more of a dog as well than of a lion or any other big cat. o.O And don't be rude please. They're fictional characters, so there's not much point in arguing what they really are meant to be.Senna-Umbreon wrote:*EDIT* Also, I've just checked the Legendaries page for HeartGold and SoulSilver on Serebii... Re: World of Pokemoncraft
Thank you on both accounts. My guide also calls them legendary dogs. People on Serebii forums refer to them as the legendary dogs but there isn't a point in arguing or getting rude over it. Hense why I told them the pokemon thread was over yonder. ^^;erwil wrote:I've actually only ever heard people call them dogs in all official guides and even the unofficial ones. Re: World of Pokemoncraft
I do think the naming theme is a really good idea though.
It certainly feels like hunting for pokemons with all the shiny rares. <3 Now we just need balls.. O.O /throws snowballs at her rares.
