When catacylsm came out i started questing and every level i would look up all the new pets and tame a few. Just recently i hit 83 and as soon as i did i remember a pet that was my level that i was always interested in level, the shale spider. As i was flying to the location i started think and i haven't seen one person with one, and why no one ever had one. After my tame i fell in love with it! its model is very unique and interesting. The best part about them is there tenacity pets, i always loved spiders but being cunning they would die in dungeons and having to res then feed them all the time, now i don't have to worry about it anymore

They have a very cool running annimation and attack style and i highly recommend taming one. I want to see more people running around with there new spiders!

They're amazing pets, and I absolutely adore their little sqeaks and sounds when they walk about and trash mobs for me. <3

If I'm not mistaken, they borrow the crab model. I could tell by their idle animations. But at least their skin/sound/etc. are completely unique. I adore their noises, I don't think I could get sick of it.

I too am hooked on the shale spider. I was exploring and grabbed a red one, and thought he was awesome. Went back and grabbed the purple and topaz one, ended up keeping Chip the yellow one. Heck with dps, I love him to bits(chips)?

Yeah. When I first saw the screenshots, I was like meh. Then I saw them in person and was like. hhmmm, pretty cute... I ended up taming three of them. SQUEE ARMY.

You can actually get a Rock Borer from Stonecore at lvl 82. They run in packs and have low health so you'll want to icetrap/tame one of them (perhaps let the group know in advance so someone doesnt AOE it all down)

God I planned on using a crab for nearly all of Cata after taming one on them right away and Going all the way through Vash with it, then I get to Deepholm and spot the shale spiders. I nabbed one and will never go back. XD I mean come on, the Squeeeeeeeee. God they can take alot of punishment too!

I think that they're at least based off the spider model, maybe modified for four legs instead of eight. These guys even got a decent swimming animation (again based off of the spiders), which I was pleasantly surprised by.

Yep, did that myself. It's not a good idea to try and tame the borers that spawn during the first boss fight; it's best to wait until you reach the spot in the tunnel that said boss bursts out of where packs of rock borers will come scurrying along. At that point, you have to ask your tank and DPS to hold off until you can get one trapped well outside of their AoE range. My group was nice about it (although I had to explain to the tank that I can't tame a spider while he has aggro), and thoroughly loved the newly adopted member of our pick-up group.

Hehehe, my Jadefang ended up tanking heroic Foereaper. The paladin was like 'holy cow, your pet is EPIC'. <3 these lil guys.
