Oil Stained wolf during quest

How do you tame the wolf to keep the oil during the quest? I don't want to use the abondon feature but every time I try to tame one of the wolves it dosn't keep the look.

The only way possible was to time the tame correctly as it disappeared, however with the latest patch Blizzard have made it impossible to tame in this manner any more.

Basically Blizzard have said NO to pets with visual buffs.

I saw someone state he was still tameable while doing the quest which is what I'mt rying too do.

Bah I give up I've had it tame right as he vanishes 4 times and still no look kept for him guess I'll just lvl to 74 and camp me a glow bear.

I helped a friend tame him the old way before we knew about the new way. It took him 2 hours of attempts to get it right. I did it in about 15 minutes. Another hunter took about half an hour. I've heard that it's still possible, just a lot more difficult.
