Raptor Fans?

Unread post by Andiama »

I'm still a lowbie (level 37) so I can't tame any elite pets yet, but right now I think the Raptors are my favorite! They come in so many cool colors. I can't make up my mind which one I like best. Not to mention they have awesome dps and tear through mobs quite nicely.

Right now I have the raptorskinorange. I love how wild his coloring looks in different light. It's quite vibrant.

Any others loving the little lizard? :D

I like 'em as mounts. They are second on my list of favorites, right after mechastriders. They've never really clicked with me as let's tough. Dunno' why, they look very cool.

I think I'm with Saturo on this one. I like them much more as mounts, but they make pretty neat pets, too. However, after having devilsaurs for quite some time now, nothing else seems to compare. And I don't mean just because of the damage, I just love the devilsaurs. :D

I can't have a Devilsaur yet, I'm too little. (cries)

But when I'm bigger, I'm TOTALLY going to get a Devilsaur. I guess I was wondering if anyone would ever keep one beyond the lower levels? Maybe I'm just dreaming, lol?!

Ryai the first had a purple raptor right up untill lv 40+ Rosa had a green one untill she hit a certain level.

I do love them tho it's just hard to find an alt that works with them; most of my toons are BM so I don't really want a raptor when I can get a devilsaur that is cooler and does more dps than a raptor. And alot of the skins I like irk and annoy me with how they seem to have some graphical glitches or like the red outlands raptor, some wierd shading on the face. Or how the back armor is never truely black but an offshade of it and I'd perfer the armor as black then burnt faded brick.

Edrawr: same her too- do love them Devilsaur's :)

I still see plenty of level 80 raptors in Dalaran. While I love my devilsaur to death (and am likely to get another....), I am fully intending to level another alt so I can get a raptor. I've never had one before, but I think they're cute. :) I won't know how I truly like them until I play alongside one, but from afar, I like them. ^_^

In my short period of self-pity after having lost King Krush the first time, I went and got a green raptor from Outlands to fill the void. He was pretty cool and all, but I just don't really like their racial. It's either awesome or crappy. When it crits, he gets a 10% boost to damage for 30 seconds, which is awesome! When it doesn't crit, it's a rather lackluster ability in my opinion. I much prefer the devilsaurs' 3% boost to damage, guaranteed after every Monstrous Bite that stacks up to 3 times for a 9% total boost (on a 10 second cooldown without the Longevity talent - 7 second cooldown with Longevity). Savage Rend has a one-minute cooldown (42 seconds with Longevity), so if it doesn't crit that's a looong time to wait before its next Savage Rend. Hope all that blathering made sense.

Basically, I think raptors make excellent pets up until mid-50's because when Savage Rend crits, it really is a beating. But when devilsaurs become available to you, you should definitely at least try one out. Spirit beasts come close in awesomeness but I just love having my big green dino chomping on everything's face.

I love the raptors! My only horde toon high enough to do the dailies got herself the raptor mount from Un'goro (I love that skin, btw!), and my main hunter has had a raptor for most of her /played. Right now she has the black spiky one, but I had the red one from Duskwallow for maaaannnny levels. *sigh*

Edit: I agree on the lackluster racial, Edrawr, I'd love to see it buffed a tiny bit. Shorter cooldown, perhaps, or a chance to proc regardless of crit? On the other hand, raptors are holding their own fairly well against other non-BM pets.

Oh, definitely! I am not trying to take anything away from raptors. For a non-BM spec they really are very good pets (or even for a lower-level BM spec). To be quite honest I was impressed with my raptor's damage at times, he was landing some big hits. I just like more reliable damage which to me is what the devilsaur is. Its buff is nearly identical to the raptors', just that it's not as "chancey". Well, that and I just like devilsaurs better. But for someone who doesn't have that option, a raptor is still a very solid pet to go with instead. And I love how they come in so many colors! The red "vanilla WoW" model is especially striking, if I might say so myself. :D

I am a raptor fan. My main at 80 has the color changer blue/ gray mottled skin. I have released her several times to the wild, but always come back to her. Love the color change, and the way she looks in different lights. I always wanted the blue one and waited until I was level 16 to go into WC to get her. I would release her for a different pet (stable was full) then missed her enough to go back and get her.

I have done other skin colors and the outland design, but I keep going back to my favorite blue. :-)

My raptor Muldoon was my first ever tame, and I still have him :) I got one of those red ones in durotar, and I even have one of the little Razzashi Hatchlings to match him. I take him to a lot of heroics with me, and I've considered using him as my raiding pet, instead of my wolf, but I'd have to check out femaledwarf first, or something...

His colors just look so good next to my troll, and I love the fact that they're supposed to be intelligent, what with all his beads and feathers <3

I know what you mean Foru! I have released my Raptors but keep retaming them. I think I'm going to be that way about this orange one. The coloring is so dynamic; almost iridescent. :)

I've always liked raptors, but never had room to keep one in my stable. My favorite is the red outlands skin, as it kind of reminds me of Raptor Red, a favorite book of mine.

I do like the look of raptors, and I love the fact that they decorate themselves with feathers and stuff. They're very cool. They make awesome mounts too.

The one time I tried taming one, I really couldn't get into it though. I think this is probably just because it didn't seem to match my character, Taigi, who struck me as more of a cat person (or cow, as it were). Nor do I think they'd fit on my main hunter. But they are very cool looking, I agree :D

I LOVE the raptors, and according to some reports i've seen, apparently they're even better dps pets than Wolves... But unfortunately i lack stable space... so I don't have one, yet =)

They're not better than wolves. But raptors and cats are right up there behind the puppies.
