Seriously though, their sound is f*cking awesome...and the fact that the music video for that song is an Alice in Wonderland homage just instantly scored big points with me.

Sin with a Grin ~ Shinedown
Saw these guys in concert before I really started listening to them. Wasn't so fond of their songs. Then heard some of their music on my brother's cd's and fell in love. Too bad it was a bit late @_@

Wow, Oomph! is a name I have not heard in a long while. That one is going back a couple of decades. Which reminds me Nitzer Ebb have a new one out, surprisingly. I'm not so much into the industrial thing any more, I burned out on it a while ago but I still enjoy some of it, where there's true innovation and not just generic crap that really overtook the genre for the better part of the last decade.
But on that note, last thing I listened to was Die Form's Bach Project, pretty neat stuff though doesn't come near the depth and detail of Bach's actual pieces, and with electronic music making use of classical you never know what is actually played and what is sampled. Unless it's Wendy Carlos.
Still, I've been a Die Form fan for a very long time and I always appreciate their work.

Ooh, I've heard of Fever Ray. I listen to a bit of The Knife. Same singer, right?Anansi wrote:Live In Lulea by Fever Ray, the second disc in the 2 CD/1 DVD deluxe edition set.

Yes, Fever Ray is the solo project of Karen Dreijer Andersson (well solo studio, she took a full band to tour with).Jakkra wrote: Ooh, I've heard of Fever Ray. I listen to a bit of The Knife. Same singer, right?
Sound-wise, Fever Ray is not as "pop" like as The Knife, but at the same time it's not hugely different in sound from the latter's Silent Shout album. Fever Ray is more organic sounding, slower paced and darker, but if you like Silent Shout, you'd like Fever Ray.
Personally, I find Fever Ray to be more cohesive than The Knife, more focused but I love both to bits.
Although I'm not sold on The Knife's latest effort, a collaboration with Planningtorock and Mt. Sims called "Tomorrow In A Year", which is an avante-garde opera based on Darwin's Evolution of Species.
It's ok, the second disc is better than the first, but I think I may have to actually see the production to appreciate the music more, as the music, devoid of accompanying imagery and performance, seems a bit empty. Which, for something ostensibly opera-oriented, is largely a failure (ie should not need to see the performance to get the most out of the music, the performance is the delivery method for the music, not the other way around).

Anyway, I've been watching/listening to this. Samvel Yervinyan is an amazing violinist from what I've seen. I'm totally blown away when I watch things like this...
