Possibly the first major Cata patch, I believe that's what they did with Wrath.
And I have no idea what they would actually pick to be the next spirit beast but I can say what I would like to have lol. My first choice would be a dragonhawk spirit beast and it would be nice for the next one to be like Skoll and Loque, who are not transparent but glow in some way. Don't get me wrong I love the transparent ones but I like variety! Other ones I think might be cool would be a wasp or a spider spirit beast. Just my thoughts , it would be pretty hard for me to not want it whatever they decide.
Thrall | Kormai - 100 Blood Elf Hunter | Kari - 100 Undead Hunter | Sintharia - 100 Blood Elf Warlock | Rhoxi - 100 Goblin Mage
Stormrage | Kormai - 100 Draenei Hunter | Kari - 6 Worgen Hunter
...and so many other alts!
I'm excited and looking forward to the next big patch including a new Spirit Beast, whenever that may be...
My big idea that I want to pitch to a Blizz GM is a Fox Spirit Beast. But not just your typical transparent, ghostly one -- a nine-tailed fiery one. Something similar to how Skoll is blue and crackles with lightning. He'd be a red-orange with crackling flames and nine-tails.
I'm just being creative here. Who knows what will be next. But that's what I'd like to see. lol.
Do we really need another one?.. We are getting to the point where you can't collect them all, without loosing some potential raid buffs in your stable.
Probably a flying spirit beast would make sense next.

Idea 1:
Release of Deathwing's raid
Deathwing-armored Outland-model Raptor "Failed Experiment"
Rarespawn Trash mob IN THE RAID
Can not be trapped, slowed, or feared. Randomly stealths and Garrotes a new target.
Changes targets to a random member of the group every 5 seconds.
Idea 2;
Next major content patch
Wooly Kodo with Arcturis-esque glow and coloration
Roams the Southern barrens as a neutral level 32 mob
Idea 3;
Next major content patch
Slightly transparent Druid Bear form, randomly spawns in one of four variations (Purple NE bear, Dark Brown Tauren Bear, Yellow mane Troll bear, White Worgen bear). "Severed Bear Essence"
Roams Vashj'ir, walking on the water's surface. Level 85 non elite
Following a Demon Hunter Night Elf/Tauren/Troll/Worgen (Two glaives, blindfold, kilt, and rune tattoos)
Both attack at the same time. Demon Hunter is an elite and can be trapped.
Idea 4;
"Prehistoric Worgen", uses old white worgen model
Rare Spawn in Duskwood, roams among the other worgen. Level 34 hostile.
Idea 5;
Twilight Chromaggus - A Chromaggus with Twilight Drake coloration
Rare Spawn, Twilight Highlands roaming near the Twilight area. Level 85 Elite
Not trappable, does an AoE fear, and deals massive damage. Krush v.2
lol. I'm not a fan of Naruto. I DID play Pokémon back in the day. However, nine-tailed foxes have existed in Japanese lore long before those two animes came around. I just like Skoll a lot and I'd just like to see more spirit beasts with elemental traits like him. /shrug
Kik i agree with most of them ideals ex the first it would be almost immpostible to tame him because he targets someone every 5 sec that means you have to have all the haste in the world to do him and then the garrote damage would be devostating
Born a lonewolf...choosen to be with pets! Thanks for the awwsome signature Pooksie!!

Well, I'll admit to not being much of a reader on Japanese lore.
But, I do think we are getting close to Spirit Beast overload. There are other neglected pet families that need new pets first.
Not sure Blizz would ever go for a Worgen pet idea. They're a playable race now and it's just never been their plan for "sentient" races to be tameable. They removed Garwal's worgen pet glitch for this reason.
But on a side note - I'm not sure their "sentience" argument can really hold though, because Raptors seem to be rather sentient with jewelry and social hierarchy and all that crap. I think Blizz just enjoys dictating what we can and can't do. lol.
On another side note relating to sentience - I'd enjoy Drakes (even though they are "sentient") becoming tameable at some point in the future. Maybe the next expansion.

That's the reason we'll never get drakes, or worgen.
Personally, I'd like to see a new owl spirit beast. Have Olm come back as an owl spirit. I mean, think about it: he used to be part of a druidic order back then. He was a named mob with a group. There must be *some* story there! A pure owl spirit in the corrupted area of the Felwood....
I'd like to see a flying spirit beast, and something "solid" this time, instead of more of the spectral ones. But even more than spirit beasts, I'd love to see more unique/rare skins for "regular" pets instead. A new Devilsaur would be awesome.
I agree, the next spirit beast should be an Owl or similar bird. The first spirit beast was put in the game 11/08 and the second 4/09. Guess we'll see around May/June.
Frankly, the idea of a humanoid as a 'pet' kinda freaked me out so it's probably for the best that worgen pet is gone. Sorry to peeps who liked him but ... the implications were a bit disturbing.
A wind serpent or a bird spirit beast would be cool, but augh. Even picky Novi's stables fill fast...
Sofia, the remarkably purple spirit cat as drawn by Ket Shi.

But it is possible. It's like the cats in Ulduar, just harder
Spirit Bird would be AWESOME. I have to admit though, I'm really hoping for a Spirit Boar. I used to have Snorts but I really want one that is unique and hard to get - and I love their animation!
