Kikanu wrote:Idea 1:
Release of Deathwing's raid
Deathwing-armored Outland-model Raptor "Failed Experiment"
Rarespawn Trash mob IN THE RAID
Can not be trapped, slowed, or feared. Randomly stealths and Garrotes a new target.
Changes targets to a random member of the group every 5 seconds.
No, no, no.

Why?

Locking spirit beasts away into raids destroys any and all chance outside of an elite few getting them. Blizzard only locked away a few into raids in OLD content because they knew everyone, given a chance, would be able to get them, hopefully, with little grief. Do you know how much you'd have to pay to run a raid to boost you for a chance for a rarespawn and then pray someone doesn't **** it up for you? No, no thank you.

Idea 2;
Next major content patch
Wooly Kodo with Arcturis-esque glow and coloration
Roams the Southern barrens as a neutral level 32 mob
We'd have to have kodo tamable first, and I don't see that happening... not yet anyways.
Idea 3;
Next major content patch
Slightly transparent Druid Bear form, randomly spawns in one of four variations (Purple NE bear, Dark Brown Tauren Bear, Yellow mane Troll bear, White Worgen bear). "Severed Bear Essence"
Roams Vashj'ir, walking on the water's surface. Level 85 non elite
Following a Demon Hunter Night Elf/Tauren/Troll/Worgen (Two glaives, blindfold, kilt, and rune tattoos)
Both attack at the same time. Demon Hunter is an elite and can be trapped.
I.. um .. what? This doesn't make sense, I mean maybe possibly for a -nelf- bear and -nelf- demon hunter seeing as most of Vashj'ir used to be ABOVE the ocean as they are pretty much high elf/night elf ruins everywhere in the place and they had to have been built before they were nagafied. But, to have 4 races spawn in a place where only one of them had been before, ever? It doesn't make any sense. Now I know you are just trying to offer suggestions, but this is just silly, sorry dear but it is O_o

Idea 4;
"Prehistoric Worgen", uses old white worgen model
Rare Spawn in Duskwood, roams among the other worgen. Level 34 hostile.
Noooooooooooooooo. Just nooo, please, no, no, we don't need to start up all the drama that happened last time about Garwal. I remember it, I was there for it, I had elitists attack me for it when I tried to defend the fact we ruined existing pets for other hunters who had tamed Garwal as the WOLF. And Blizzard has basically banhammered this idea of ever taming a worgen down with the fact that they are now a race. A race of humans infested by rabies, but a player race nontheless.
Idea 5;
Twilight Chromaggus - A Chromaggus with Twilight Drake coloration
Rare Spawn, Twilight Highlands roaming near the Twilight area. Level 85 Elite
Not trappable, does an AoE fear, and deals massive damage. Krush v.2
How about no to Krush v2 as Krush v1 is giving me enough heartache. And no to it being a spirit beast. Why?

I would love that as a NORMAL core hound. Gimme gimme gimme gimme.

Anyways my 2 cents on actual spirit beasts? Most likely an owl. There is a transparent blue-white owl skin already in use in a few places. These were in the caves for the old druid flight form quest- along with parrots and jade owls. Which I mind you DID become tamable. Now if these became tamable, yet the ghost owl has not, why? Most likely it is going to be introduced in a future patch, possibly.

Tbh I just hope for the other spirit cats that were datamined. As much as I love Gondria on my belf, I also loved the white and blue models, until well they showed such crappy rendering [transparent tigers derp]

Ryai, why would you have to pay a raid to boost you to it? Seems to me, getting to it would be the easy part, by either simply going there with your own guild, or getting friendly with some higherups in another guild. Actually succeeding in pressing tame the moment it aggroes you, and then gathering some haste would be the tricky part.

Otherwise though, I agree with you. Why would a worgen beardruid's ghost be walking around Vashj'ir, or a troll/tauren for that matter. Besides, we already have a druid model SB, and I doubt we'll be getting more than one mob of each model.

Something 'new' would be great. I'm rather disappointed with the two newest ones. I was hoping that Ghostcrawler was a gag much like "Epicus Maximus" It's otherwise a simple model of the new crab made transparent. Don't think I need to mention Karoma. Little to no effort put into them. It's like they were an after thought. =/ it really is a shame.

There are already several unused 'spectral' models in the game and posted here on petopia. I really like the look of the Spectral Bird of Prey. With a bit of glow effects it would be a great addition to the Spirit Beast family. Another idea would be a Wind Serpent. They have appeared many times in the game as a type of 'spiritual creature' in quests. Seeing one with a mix of Arcturis and Skoll's unique colors and effect would have me camping it 24/7 xD A true 'Spawn of Hakkar' ? D:

Personally I would love a Spirit Beast that just mixes well with the model type. Spirit Cats and Wolves go very well but have been used to death. Bear was a great choice. Even though I don't like them, A Spirit Gorilla would be pretty sweet. A great guardian of the forest. *nodnod* A Spirit Boar would be just as awesome only I would like to see a new model for it.

Because Kikanu mentioned a -raid- rare. And even 10 man, a raid on Deathwing or Deathwing's lair is going to be pretty insane, especially for a rare. I mean I doubt you could safely go 'LFG to pug Deathwing's Lair for rare tame' really. And then ontop of this, how would you be certain no one would accidentally kill it? Mean for those of us not in raiding guilds etc or those of us without the achievements? You'd have to pay for it.

There were people selling Ulduar runs for Proto drakes. This would just be Ulduar drake 2.0 :/

Edit: Also, why would hunters need to pay to tame Chromaggus?

Because people are greedy. If hunters had to shell out 1k gold to tame Chromaggus, I can only dread to think how much gold they'd have to bleed to tame something that requires actual effort on the part of the boosters.

The thing is, it wouldn't require any actual effort, other than getting to it, which you'll be doing anyway.

And I happen to like the concept of a raidrare.

Because everyone may not have a big guild? Because their guild might want to kill the shiny? Keeping goobers from healing aggro or punching it in the face can be tougher than one is willing to admit. Sometimes you just have to pug it and hope they're bribeable. How many posts did we see having trouble getting raids for folks to tame Chromaggus? A lot. Top it off with the fact that raids have 3-7 day cooldowns...

Lets look at scenarios for paying:

Scenario One: Hey, no rare, but you have to pay us anyways! hurdur! /sigh

Scenario Two: the rare showed up! But sorry, healer stole aggro and tank accidentally killed it, but you still have to pay!

Scenario Three: Either by luck or flying by the seat of your pants blessed by god, the holy spirit and jesus himself, the rare spawns and you get it.

Also, if it is in an endgame raid. What will you need to be in the raid, to survive the trash beating on you with no healer aggro and nothing protecting you as this will most likely be non CCable and etc etc to provide a challenge? Oh well you'll need endgame raid gear! And thanks to people crying about QQ welfare epix even tho I had to wait till end game wrath to actually enjoy my epics, I can't really gear up. And raids aren't really being pugged on Hellscream whenever I'm on anymore. Maybe here and there but yeah everything seems to have gone silent, outside of people looking to pug, gasp, northrend content...

So yeah I'm opting out on the chance of a pet that would require me to farm money, just for a chance of seeing.

Healing aggro and people attacking wouldn't be a problem, since the rqptor described randomly attacks people, IE, it doesn't have an aggro table.

And if you can't run with yourm own guild, nothing ism stopping you from going with another guild. And trust me, even pugging will be possible. Didn't you see how they messed up ICC with that goddamn buff?

Ryai: Why would you need to pay anyone!? You could just get friendly with people in a raiding guild, and do it with them. You are highly unlikely to need to pay a friend to take you to a raid every once in a while.

I see a raid rare causing a lot of drama. Even as a guild hunter, the GM will likely be frustrated with you, hunters will be fighting for it, and I don't even want to think about pug raids.

Tameables in raid are fine, but throwing rares in the mix that are highly sought after would be a mess.

Then you'd have to pray it doesn't get killed or burned down if it decides to jump the healer, the tank or some dps who doesn't realize it's the rare you want? And also if it was a rare at all, not just the one described. But any rare for anything, normal beast, spirit beast or normal exotic, having something that can go so wrong so easily ontop of being a -rare- is just wrong. I don't care about raid mobs, but a rare mob exclusive to the raid?
And if you can't run with yourm own guild, nothing ism stopping you from going with another guild. And trust me, even pugging will be possible. Didn't you see how they messed up ICC with that goddamn buff?
*facedesk*

Come to Hellscream sometime Saturo. I'm sure I told you how elitist it was during Wrath.

During Wrath with ICC 30% buff.

During Wrath when you could be geared, know tacts and Marrowgar was nerfed. But w/o achievement you were evidently a SCRUB AND NOTHING WOULD CURE IT. So I am betting Cata raids are going to be the exact same thing on my server.

Ryai: Why would you need to pay anyone!? You could just get friendly with people in a raiding guild, and do it with them. You are highly unlikely to need to pay a friend to take you to a raid every once in a while.
Because the fact is, chances are if you can, will, or did get friendly with people in a raiding guild, it's not sure fire that you will actually get anywhere with that. And i really can't make myself buddy buddy with someone when all I really did it for is for my own goal- ERGO became friends with them just for chance of a pet.

And the reason why people like me would have to pay;

A: not having enough friends in the right places
B: not wanting to make friends just for personal gain
C: not having good enough gear or a big or progressive enough raiding guild
D: not having enough of a guild even if progressive willing to waist time and a raidlock just for you to have a chance for a pet [especially since a rare raid spawn most likely would drop loot as it would be unfair to make such a thing exist solely for a hunter, right?]
E: People can be greedy bastards and demand money outside of enough to cover a few repair bills or a tip for their kindness.

Besides there's already enough pain in the ass tamables locked away in raids. *points at AQ 40*

I have still yet to get past the first boss ffs as there are probably a few countless other hunters on my server too. *lazer eyes the prophet*

Hmm... Not that I don't enjoy a good debate, but how about some more spirit beast ideas!

I like all that I've heard so far, except the raid rare stuff. :)

Hm tbh I'm not sure they'd put an SB/Rare in TB, since it's well a for the most part, majorly active quest hub [usually see minimum 25 each of horde and ally at the least e.e]

But. Yes. Gief shiny moth. Gief shiny sparklie moth.

I would like an eagle spirit beast. It could be affilated with a faction that starts out unfriendly and is untamable (even if you go to war with the faction) unless you get to exalted with the faction and challenge it to a duel and tame it while in the duel. I think having to wait for a rare spawn is too boring.

Hmm, from the point of view of an onlooker, I actually sort of like the idea of a spirit beast that is only obtainable through a high-end raid (aka you theoretically must play your class, and play it well, to tame the pet). However I do agree that leaving a rare in the hands of 9 other people and yourself is probably more harm than good. :( I also actually thought the idea of a spirit beast druid bear in different forms wandering around was a cool idea. Perhaps it could be like Madexx in that one of many forms could spawn in areas relating to their type (Nelf = Vash'jir, Troll=STV, Tauren=Barrens or something). But that might be too bothersome. Still, I really loved the base idea as it's a unique way to present a new pet in the game :D

As for the whole "too many pets too little stable slots" debate, as someone who is currently juggling an almost-full stable, I totally agree. xD Having said that though, it's not entirely practical to have every spirit beast and perhaps a little more limitation is a good thing. I'm levelling a baby Goblin who is going to adopt my main's Aotona and Ghostcrawler when she is high enough to do so, thus freeing stable space. But we've been given 25 slots, and in all honesty, there are only 6 spirit beasts; even if there were 10 spirit beasts we would very comfortably have enough room for all of them, plus 5 BM raid pets, 5 non-BM raid pets, and 5 "other" pets. I mean, we've been asking for space for so long and we've finally gotten it, but it wasn't long ago that we only had 5 slots! So I really don't think that adding more spirit beasts to the game is a bad thing in that area; we have the space, we just need to learn to make choices between "shiny pet" and "pet I actually love". I wouldn't give up my Gondria for the world, but my Ghostcrawler, as I said, is being passed on to my Goblin as soon as she's able to tame it.

New spirit beast models. I'm of the agreement that, really, the blue glowey spirit models were great but are just about overdone now. Loque and Skoll were amazing, even those who don't like cats, wolves or the particular models (vomitface, starved wolf) can appreciate that effort was put into the models, and the majority of hunters likes at least one of them anyway! Gondria was nice, a little less flashy, but still purple and black striped with a pretty ghostly glow. Arcturis was fine. A bit less effort, maybe, but still with a nice fade effect. But you know. It was very much like effort steadily decreasing on the scale of new SB models. When Cata came out - Karoma was, I think, a fantastic idea, and we all got the chance to get our spirit wolves! Again, sort of boring ghostly skin, but it's an old model and we all know that but we still loved it. Ghostcrawler... great, a crab. A difficult to kill one. One that is amusing for the hunter community/relates to the dev/etc etc. Ghostly. Spectral. Eeeh.

^ So from all of that, yes, NEW MODELS PLEASE :D

I like the idea of a boar SB. Or a beetle? The ninetails fox would be awesome. What about a bird of prey that looks like a) a phoenix or b) a peacock or c) some other pretty bird? We've got scorpions and turtles covered now with the non-spirit-beast Terrorpene and Madexx, which was great. Really nice models. I love the idea of an undead or hakkari/tribal windserpent with feathers and beads. Perhaps a raptor, mount model, that was "burnt by deathwing" or something funky. A warp stalker would be awesome. A glistening black and teal webbed spider could be nice.

~~

Yeah, please excuse my ramblings. Just... brainstorming I guess. xD TLDR; I'd love more unique model spirit beasts!

See, I'm a terrible hunter. I released my Gondria for Arcturis, and now in my stable I have Arcturis and Karoma. One day I know I'll need to trim it down to just one. I'm not a collector. I'm a pick-and-choose'r. So the concept of more spirit beast models doesn't terrify me. Rather, it gives me an internal happy. :D I look at spirit beast models the way I look at any models: give us a big variety for the multitude of people who want to have a spirit beast that they *really like*.

Plus, the more there are, the fewer hoarders will be able to camp them so everyone who wants one *can* get one more easily. ;)

If you really want a rare from a high level raid, then make it part of a epic quest line. That way the guild/raid has to help out the hunter with spawning the mob.

No contests, no drama.

My big idea that I want to pitch to a Blizz GM is a Fox Spirit Beast. But not just your typical transparent, ghostly one -- a nine-tailed fiery one. Something similar to how Skoll is blue and crackles with lightning. He'd be a red-orange with crackling flames and nine-tails.

I'm just being creative here. Who knows what will be next. But that's what I'd like to see. lol.
