Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
I tamed him at level 85 without potions or anything fancy. I had a core hound already and popped his wanna-be BL, abandoned and tamed. I think if you're quick you shouldn't have much of a problem. Don't just pull the level and stand around! rofl.

Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
Tame him solo? Yes. Get to him solo? No, because Razorgore requires at least 2-3 people due to the mechanics...and make getting the rest of the way there a lot smoother/faster.
Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
I'd suggest 1 for the MC orb and 4 people to deal with the trash. You can use less people but 4 is a safer number to fall back on, especially if you have hybrid healer/tank classes. Also 4/5 people to kill Vael makes things easier.Ziarre wrote:Tame him solo? Yes. Get to him solo? Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
He was a straight forward tame at 80 for me (t10 gear). I had 4 guildies with me to deal with the first boss and to help me clear the way to him which was quite handy (didn't really need 5 of us but meh, the more the merrier). Once at Chomaggus they all stayed in the previous room and I ran in, hit the switch and started taming him.. it really was that easy. With the reduced channeling time on tame beast now it shouldn't really be a problem for an 85. Bring buddies for the first boss and / or to clear to him faster. Make sure they wait outside the room with the switch as you don't want him going for one of them instead and you're set. I would recommend bringing a healer if you can just to make life a little easier and another dps or tank, it doesn't matter. Like the other guys have said you do need at least 2-3 people to deal with the first boss.

Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
Just go prepared with haste food, flask, elixer, and a throwaway core hound. Make sure you shoot him a bit first, esp with Distracting Shot.
A word of warning though, his sound is messed up. It is very loud when he attacks and zone wide. I stopped using him after a few nasty tells. So until Blizz fixes his sound, he is pretty much unuseable unless you don't mind annoying everyone in a zone.

Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
2 maned the instance my 85 warrior and a guildies 85 dk all the way to him. got on my hunter didn't do anything walked in clicked the lever and when he hit range for it tamed him no potions or anything. Did it at 83.
Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
Tamed him with 9 other guildies, its the smoothest way to do it. 2-3 to get past Razor? Not gonna be fun at all!!Xakaal wrote:I know he has a chance to MC, Stun, whatever to screw me up but can i get to him at lvl 85 solo?

Click name, click ignore. Or if they were being civil, explain to them that hey there is an option to download an addon to disable the sounds -or- check pet emotes off.
I hate worgen sniffing but I don't give nasty tells to the 500 worgen players running around netrual cities or worse, the 500 AFK in netrual cities.
It's doable with 4, we found out. And it's not that hard at all really. By the end sure it does get a bit hectic and I was having to protect Aria's mother solo as Aria, Tailcoy and the hunter we were helping, Rabid, kept the boss safe, but it IS doable with 4 people, [3 if lv 85 probably] and this does help if you can't round up many kind people willing to help, guildies or not.Tamed him with 9 other guildies, its the smoothest way to do it. 2-3 to get past Razor? Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
I tamed him with just three of us going in there--was a fun run, and takes some mechanics strategy, but worth it. And I must have just missed his annoying sounds. Will pull him out tonight and check.

Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
I did it with 7, but to be fair, some of them just wanted to go to BWL for the achievement (just after 4.0 so we were all lvl 80 as it was pre-cata release). As for Chrom, I just got a shield from the priest, ran over to the lever pulled it. Targetted Chrom and hit tame. 7 seconds and a blue debuff later I had the first Chromaggus on Blackhand.
As for "annoying sounds" he just makes the basic Core Hound stomps for the most part. The trick I really like to pull out when there is another BM hunter with a core hound is to get Magmadar out of my stable and put him out there just to show what a non stomping fire only smoldering core hound sounds like and how he's superior to regular core hounds in every way because of it.

Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
No, his attack sounds are zone wide and very loud. I was in Org on a training dummy with him and tons of people in trade were complaining about a "loud roaring noise." Blizz needs to tune his attack sounds down a notch or two.

Ahh, I don't take mine out very often so I've never noticed his attack sounds.

Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
I've only had one complaint about his sound, and it was from someone next to me. I'm pretty sure it's not zone wide, but just anyone within seeing range of you, it sounds like he's right next to them.
I tamed him soon as I could when the patch came out. Did it with 4 other people (3 of them pallys, ha! and 1 dk). Went very smoothly, even the first part. Had one of the pallys do the MC, while the rest of us stood on the platform next to him and aoed everything that came. Everything else went smoothly, til we got to Chrom. Someone ran in and pulled the lever before I could say anything and he was attacking the group. It took many arcane shots spamming to get Chroms agro again (and I almost had all 5 debuffs), but I managed to, and get the tame off (with no macros, cause my haste and stuff got blown trying to tame him first and loosing agro). Healer popped one heal on me cause I was gettin a lil low, but still got the tame.
If yer prepared to tame him, it'll be easy...just getting to him is the hard part.

Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
I managed to get up to Chromaggus with my guild, but I needed a priest to shield me so I actually survived the tame.
My group just had two dks and a pally, and the dk and priest the second run in.
You might also want a rogue to disarm the suppression traps, or just play Chariots of fire in the background like I did

Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
Taming him at 69 was certainly a challenge.
The hardest part, as everybody has mentioned, is Razorgore since you can't simply 'outgear' the mind control mechanics of phase 1, while you can kill all the adds which makes life easier, you still have to Mind Control the big brute.
For Chromaggus himself I used a Corehound (The Beast from UBRS oddly enough, who I tamed while we were doing the BWL attunement quest), popped Ancient Hysteria, Priest shielded me and the tame went smoothly.
If I had been 1 level higher I could have used the haste pots and probably wouldn't have needed the shield but he still hits pretty damn hard.

I bet it would have been, considering you need to be level 70 to tame exotic pets.BaldingBarry wrote:Taming him at 69 was certainly a challenge.

Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
Ah, really? I thought your 31st point was at 70. Shows how many characters I've leveled from anything but 80 since the new expansion! i.e. none.

Re: Advice for Chromaggus tame?
Thank you all for the tips
i got a bunch of guildies who have agreed to help-- actually its my Shale Spider that'll do the tanking, my guild leader who is a lvl 85 mage, and her hubby who'll be using his 73 rogue and i a pew pew, pop all cooldowns 85 hunter xD I'll def be sure to buy some flasks and heal pots for everyone seeing as i dont think we'll be able to aquire a healer
I used my healer for first boss with a full 5man party with my guild, brought in my hunter after that and we went-- for the most part smoothly all the way to Chromaggus, i tamed, and then we killed Nefarion without a healer
was epic fun and i got a killer axe, a gun that looks like a red dragon head, and 3 pieces of dragonstalker outfit
