Ghostcrawler too easy?

I've been to Abyssal Depths 4 times and I saw/tamed Ghostcrawler 3 times of those 4 - that can't be random luck. (No hunters were on any of those times or I'd let them know, I checked) Is there a such thing as too easy for a spirit beast?

I love the thrill of a rare find and usually look for a second when near a rare spawning point for the heck of it, but this is too easy. It took me over a year to run across 3 Loque's while getting my Bummer Egg and heavy mining, and I looked every time I flew near a point.

Is it that GC doesn't de-spawn at all and nobody knows or cares about it?

For a spirit beast and a rare it sure seems to be highly available, whatever the reason.

Wish you could bring some of that easy GC to Thrall That reef will get to your mind after swimming in circles so long. Start screwing around with Kolorath just to pass the time.

One of the issues is the only way to get rid of him is to have a hunter tame, as they do NOT despawn. With Nerf bat GC is simply impossible to kill solo, and with him being rare it's rather hard to build a raid around the purpose of killing him, especially as he likely only drops one of the tears, which is a major turn off in means of 'PhaTz LewTZ! LAWL!!' raids on rares.

I think it all depends on your server, the size of its population and how many other Hunters are after the mob.

GC wasn't easy for me at all. He took days of camping, swimming in circles around the reef, including a near-miss where I spotted him just as another Hunter finished taming. I got lucky and caught Sambas and Karoma within a few hours of looking for them... but Ghostcrawler was very hard for me.

Interesting, Sambas was a real pain on my server and it seemed there was always a hunter spamming 5K for information leading to the whereabouts of... Our server does a lot of raiding though so BM pets can be looked down on, even by other hunters.

I told one hunter who was camping Sambas that I'd let him know if I saw Karoma and he wasn't interested at all. That surprised me, considering the history of the skin. 'Can't raid with it' he said, yet he'd been posting a reward for Sambas for 8 hours.

He does seem fairly simple to obtain on my own server, but I do look for things at odd times.
Picked him up once around 10pm server just to check on a whim, then got him again for another hunter around noon sever. Checked, called a hunter guild mate over to tame

On the other had, Sambas and Karmoa are camped constantly on my server. Manage to get both, but every time I fly past those areas I seem to see a hunter in every spawn point.

Yes, Ghostcrawler is too easy. Feel free to leave him for hunters that appreciate him for something other than his rarity

Yes GC was very easy for me, infact he was the easiest of my Cata Rares to find, I looked for him for about 30seconds..and BOOM NPCScan went off, and there he was.

Of course it could be because it was 6:50am on a Sunday morning, and nobody was around, I don't know...but I've looked for quite a few rares in the past few months since Blizz gave us 25 pets..and it usually takes days even weeks and in Madexx's case it took an hour ..lol But never in a matter of seconds.

Yyyyyyyyyyyes it can. (I mean, I get your point. But when people say things that violate very basic statistics I go "GNRGH" and chew on my desk.)

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if it was "easier" to tame spiritcrab relative spiritkitty or spiritdog or any other charismatic megafauna-based pet, just because there seems to be less of a market for arthropods (or mystical arthropods). Like how there's a million hunters deeply in love and utterly loyal to their one cat, but I knew exactly one guy who was long-term devoted to his pet crab.

Though, as I just wanted the dumb thing so I could have the benefits of the cat/spirit beast ability without the drawbacks of owning something dumb like a cat or a wolf*, I am perfectly ok with all the hunters camping Sambas and Karoma instead. Really. Worked out awesome for me.



*Not a judgement of other peoples' pets. I just don't want them for my own.

man, do I wish I had your luck with finding GC.
I've been camping him off and on for a few days (Been about a week, maybe?) with no luck of ever seeing him. Though I could be just having bad timing. Earlier today infact, my friend told me that someone tamed GC roughly a few minutes before I came online, so eh. xD

Sambas, Terrorpene, and even Karoma were quite easy for me, surprisingly. I got Karoma first, then the same day I got Sambas. Terrorpene was a few days before that.

I think I used all my luck on getting the cata rares I have now, GC is just hiding out since he's the last one I need.

It's honestly random luck. There's NOTHING out there but nodes, so short of hunters and gatherers, the sea is yours. Some people spend ages camping, some waltz out and get peenched. I stumbled onto him herbing and was like OMFGWTFBBQCRAB! And tamed like no tomorrow. The odd part is, I didn't really want him until I saw him in person. So no, GC is NOT too easy to get and should be left as he is. It's nice to have a rare that some narb can't run up and murderize.

Edit: And yes, as a BM only not-fluffy cat/wolf/bear, he probably is just less popular.

Ok honestly, in a game like wow, even Sandstone Drakes aren't going to be rare for long. If people wanted rare and special pets they'd go and like, tame the rare white wasp that only uses that skin. Or attempt to tame Lord Kri or Huhuran. Even Terrorpene and Sambas are starting to get as common as Loque was in early Wrath when he was the only SB [I've seen about 6 Terrorpene's and 10 Sambas, my own including]

Ghostcrawler did 50/60k damage on my orc [I decided I wanted something different for Rosalyn. And a crab spewing stars and ethral matter from its shell is... different. SailorCrab away! anyways I digress] and probably would have done more if I hadn't of used the haste pot. He'd probably be untamable with a tamebeast of over 10 seconds.

Besides the real problem is Tame Beast being 10 seconds now- with the change I managed to solo run a lv 69 Dwarf into UBRS, get to the Beast and after 4 tries, get him. Solo. No haste, no bubble, no nada.

So yeah, anything can be to easy- and given enough time nothing is going to stay rare. So if you're going for something that's 'rare' because it's 'rare', well tough luck, by the end of a few months undoubtedly others will have it.

Odd... while the mobs -do- get cached, I've never had NPCScan go OFF due to a pet. It only goes off if I see the actual mob. Have yet to test if it goes off when someone with the pet is in the area it spawns.

While I can agree GC is easy to tame, with the short tame timer and people not beign able to kill him, I don't think he's easy to find. I saw him and tamed him out of pure luck, and after that I've helped no fewer than 3 other hunters camp him. I've also done random checks for him and nothing. Haven't seen his ghostly butt in the wild since the day I got him. D:

Ah xD Well then, that happens to me too. I guess it doesn't bug me that much, as I'm so used to actually looking for the mobs using macrospam, flying in circles around their spawn points, watching my screen like a hawk... I get bored looking at my screen for so long and not doing anything else, but I get extremely anxious if I'm not there, watching, the exact moment it spawns. All NPCScan is good for, to me, is giving me a heart attack Dx Like, flying through Netherstorm, looking for Nuramoc, nowhere -near- any of his spawn ponits, and BLUGHABLAMBUH you've found a rare blood elf! Least it got me Medium Rare.

i have seen Ghost twice on my hunter once to tame once just passing by now mind u My dk who herbs and keeps watch out for the 10 other hunters i know who all want him i never see him up on her i talked to a girl who camped madexx with me about her 15 hour circles session she didnt herb so it was a total wast with nothing but a few critters to kill around as bad as camping jadefang as fro a chucnk of time with little to show if Your rare dosnt pop

I think I have to agree with this I was farming herbs not even looking for him and ran across him... of coarse I had to tame him.

he is always up on my server lol. helped 7 other hunters get him. but he has become the most common spirit beast i see.

My server must be the oddball. Of all the spirit beasts Ghostcrawler is the one who eludes me. Been wondering if he's affected by phasing or if there really is just nothing there on that reef. He's the last one I need and I'll have all of the SB's. Surprising that the one I'm missing is the one everyone says is the easiest one to find.

I initially thought that Ghostcrawler would be easy as well. Though when I finally found him down in the depths then I already had most of the other Cata rares and about three weeks had passes since release.

Hope I never see that part of the zone again.
