My main's a Druid so I of course love critters. That counts for something right? Right?

Oh yes, he's murder...couple guildies and I went in to play around before 4.0.1 and he'd MC right out of FD while trying to watch, then gank and reset.

Re: Like hell you can solo Skeram.
A friend and I tried duoing him, we ended up bringing in more people. The magical number was 5, with one dedicated healer (druid with HoTs so when she got MCd it didn't kill anyone) and one "tank" (arms warrior I think). We never tried the FD trick though, just tried zerging him and invariably killed each other... I do think the soloing method requires quite a bit of luck.
Much gratitude to Spiritbinder for the signature and Vephriel for the avatar! <3
Re: Like hell you can solo Skeram.
Did you even read my first post? And here let me explain;Dr. Rockso wrote:there is no luck to it all you have to do is Tag him with a couple shots get LOS then let the pet do the rest hes one of the eziest raid bosses out there
The resets happened without me tagging the boss initially.
The pet deaths happened when I actually TAGGED the boss.
It took an hour for me to get lucky enough to not get MC'd because you can get mc'd even before FD is up it seems. FD only lowers the chances, and it only works if you NEVER TOUCH THE BOSS.
I FD'd as far away as I could, and I never did anything on the last try, no TBW, no mend pet no shots no nothing.
I'm sorry that you seem to think that working on Skeram for an hour+ nearly and only getting it to work once out of so many tries that trash was respawning, is easy and not luck based :/

Re: Like hell you can solo Skeram.
your doing somthing wrong then this boss took me like 5 min. I got all the way to the twins now those i doubt are soloable
Re: Like hell you can solo Skeram.
How the hell did it take you five minutes? It took five minutes for Banshee to not only deal with him and get him to like 30% health but to take care of the adds. I'm sorry but you clearly either got extremely lucky on your first run or you're 'better geared' than I was. But I still don't see how it only took your pet five minutes to deal with him PLUS the adds.Dr. Rockso wrote:your doing somthing wrong then this boss took me like 5 min. But here as I said: when I didn't tag the boss at all, atleast initially, I was not MC'd. But after FD wore off and I did attack the boss I either feared my pet until it was dead, feared my pet until Skeram thought my pet was dead, or Skeram just decided you know what fuck you guys, I'm resetting.
When I attacked Skeram before FD and or after FD wore off, my pet usually ended up dead, there was only one reset.
Skeram also decided to reset AFTER he died because I was somehow MC'd still and killed my pet.
The only thing I found that worked, with luck more than anything was to not just unequip my bow, but to also move my staff to my bags too and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

IL explain it again...
Send Pet in Get a couple shots in then get behind a Pillar and let the pet do the work, Kill command can be your friend

Re: Like hell you can solo Skeram.
If he can port you from the Instance entrance to you for a mind control, I am pretty sure he can port you from behind a pillar, for an MC. Yes he has done it, twice infact when we thought if everyone else stayed out of combat at the entrance, no harm would come to it, right?Dr. Rockso wrote:IL explain it again...

Nope.
MC'd paladin oneshotting friends.
MC'd druid oneshotting friends.
Then you know you kinda ignore the fact when I said whenever I took a popshot at Skeram he broke FD or he never let me have a chance to use FD or the best part was, I used FD as I was MC'd. Oh that was fun. Or chain MC's because I stupidly decided to popshot before FD so I could get loot. Nope, can't let you do that.
As I said whenever I didn't attack him that was what worked the longest- the last time I got lucky enough for it to work I stayed out of combat as far as one in combat could. No spells used, no TBW, no mend pet nothing outside of FD. That was I found the only way to keep Skeram and his clones from trying to MC me long enough for me to actually you know, FD and not kill my pet.

Re: Like hell you can solo Skeram.
Uhh im with Ryai.. that boss sucks.. managed to do it with a group of other hunters, my Karoma tanked him.
But solo? Nope I get mc'd.. kill my pet.. then he either resets or I try my best to kill him.. sadly no luck either way. Even if I didnt tag him, or anything he would still MC me and have me kill my pet.. was.. annoying so I said screw it and left haha. I actually got the boss further down in health bu just doing it myself and kiting.

Re: Like hell you can solo Skeram.
in case your intention was to get past Skeram deeper into AQ40, there are 2 ways known to more or less use an "exploit" to mount through a wall and skip him.
Since im not quite sure on how the petopia community feels about exploits tough, ill best not post it here.
OT: He is indeed often a pain to solo for us hunters becuz of MC. Hope that blizz someday decides to fix this and not let our pets count as a second PC, making bosses that do MC on groups of 2+ not do so on us hunters when we are soloing them just with our pets.

Re: Like hell you can solo Skeram.
Sorry, it is not BS. I have done it many times for loot since I solo tamed both Huhuran and Kri, and will be doing it again this lockout. When I said patience, I meant patience, bear in mind Skeram is a raid boss intended for FORTY Vanilla players! Blizzard has been living dolls for making some of these guys tameable, but they aren't going to just HAND them to us.
I'm fairly sure this is a response to my post on Kri, so I will attempt to post my method here with a little less tantrum and a little more productivity.
As the other poster suggested, I also went onto the platform behind Skeram. I had to fiddle a bit to find a place to target my pet at his feet with Move To, but once I did....
1) Set him to Aggressive as he goes down.
2) Set him to STAY once he's down there. This is rather important, as the duplicates can drag your pet out of range.
3) Scurry to your position and FD. Or if you're feeling lucky, tag him first, quickly, so you can loot him after.
Lay there like a slug, target your pet, and every time Spirit Mend pops, have him Mend himself. As I posted in the other thread, I am now 85, with an average gear level of 338. And so, my Spirit Beasts now hit hard enough to finish him in FD's CD. However, I did my first solo when the Shattering took place, desperate to have a giant Skittles wasp for my pending Goblin hunter. Level 80, ICC25 gear.
http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6842
It took me four hours and frazzled nerves. Again....patience.
If you want them the way I wanted them, it's worth it.
Or xfer to Moon Guard and I'll share this week's lockout.

Re: Like hell you can solo Skeram.
I've posted this on my Crazy World thread and on a few NPC's for WoWHead, I'll post it here too.
EDIT: Adding a little bit more information, try to keep your pet in the middle of the top platform as well, don't bring your pet around the pillar to you. Basically in short always keep the boss LoS'd from you via moving your pet.. Also kill the "fakes" they always have less total health than the actual boss (Boss has 466k total health).
Managed to solo tame this guy and solo Prophet Skeram today..
My strategy was Spirit Beast for Prophet Skeram with this spec.
Go up to the top of the platform and Feign Death behind the Pillar in the back right, make sure your pet stays up on the top and just do Spirit Mend when it's off CD, also have Cower on autocast, takes roughy 6 - 7 minutes for your pet to kill Prophet Skeram.. May take a few tries, but you'll get it.![]()
Now for the trash leading to the Trio.. I recommend using a Turtle(or Beetle) with this spec Kill the Vekniss Guardians first.
Now once you're at the trio simply run in and use a Potion of Speed, pop Deterrence and begin Taming.
Once this is done you can simply run out of the room and the they'll reset, congratulations on your new pet.
This is word for word.Managed to solo tame her and solo all the way up to her..

Since the trio is optional you don't have to go to them, that's unless you want to tame one of them. (Lord Kri, Princess Yauj and Vem)
(I did put a detailed guide on how to tame the trio up on their pages too)
Once you get to Battleguard Sartura.. Make sure all the trash in the room is clear then proceed to pull him, I personally used my Spirit Beast again for this while I was in Feign Death, cast Spirit Mend when it's off CD and have Cower on autocast, will take you about 5 - 7 minutes for your pet to kill Battleguard Sartura.... May take a few tries but you'll get it.
Now you're at the hallway with all those bugs... Dismiss your pet.
Simply run through the hallway now all the way to the end and to the right past Fankriss the Unyielding.
Once you're in the other hallway which is to the right of Fankriss the Unyielding use your Feign Death.. You might disconnect here but as long as you hit Feign Death before you do you should be fine.
Now call your pet, I recommend using a Turtle(or Beetle) with this spec.. Go to the end of this hallway and clear the room with Princess Huhuran in it, now that this is done, Dismiss your current pet.. Run up to her pop Deterrence and begin Taming.
Congratulations on your new pet.
Edit: If you want your raid group to hate you, this pet is for you! And it can be yours for the low price of only 9.95$ + Shipping and Handling. We are not held reliable for you going blind or being kicked from your raid group, you have been warned.
Edit: Added a more detail on how to tame her solo.

Re: Like hell you can solo Skeram.
*scratches head*
I've seen him soloed by a <i>resto shaman</i>. While two other characters stood back and watched, out of mind control range - they didn't get teleported or anything. And they both actually did do something to the boss (it was an aborted solo-by-hunter attempt).
Before that, I got him to ~50% solo as a hunter <i>without</i> a spirit beast (I didn't have one), and that was back at 80. He never MC'd me as long as I was out of range (outside of Mend Pet range seems to equal outside of MC range), whether or not I was FD'd. What failed my attempts was that when he split, his damage output increased and I could no longer keep up with just the heals from Silverback (doesn't help that my only tank pet at the time was a rhino - if I had to try it all again without a spirit beast I'd use a turtle or beetle), and whether I risked getting MC'd and ran in to Mend Pet or didn't it usually resulted in pet death.
Now that I'm 85 and have a spirit beast I'm tempted to go try again...

Re: Like hell you can solo Skeram.
I soloed him back at 80 with the pet glitch that let our pets never die. >_>
I cleared the place of trash and just stayed as far out of range as possible and let the pet do all the work, using KC on CD and FF when it procced.
I didn't use the pillar method, stood on the stairway as you walk into Skeram's room. The little nature shock thing he does will still hit you at that range so staying FD'd at least for that helps mitigate some of it.
I'm not sure if this method still works or not, I'm guessing not since everyone here is using a different method and I haven't tried soloing him since 80.
