A Sad Observation

Since finally taming my blue I have spent most of my time helping other hunters search for Madexx. I admit, I've been hoping a red would pop for me but no luck yet. However I have made some sad observations on the people of WoW on my realm. I've seen 11 Madexx's spawn, and of those 6 were killed in front of my eyes. Now this is not a rant about how hunters should have first dibs, because I do believe in the "he who tags has it". It's more about how the ones who have been doing the killing have behaved after the kill. When they've seen myself and other hunters surrounding their fresh kill (note* none of the hunters tried to steal and/or take Madexx from them) they have ALL been rude. Taunting us and sometimes admitting they knew hunters wanted it so that was why they killed it. Myself and the other hunters have tried to be polite and simply ask that they let us know if they see it spawn again, or at least the spawn time. One person went so far as to make an alt so they could whisper me after they killed it. The very important message they had? "Hahahaha go cry to someone who cares cuz I DON'T and if I see it again I hope you get to see me kill it again!" I don't understand why people feel the need to be so cruel about it. I'm happy to report my horde friend recently got his because a very kind dwarf who was in the process of killing it stopped and let him tame, unfortunately it seems nice people are in short supply anymore:( It has made me seriously doubt the basic decency of people. I know I can't change people, and it's "the nature of the beast" so to speak. I guess I just needed to get this off my chest to people who might understand. So thank you all for listening to me "cry" about this:) On a side note, this is exactly why I am FOR the possible color changing madexx skin models...it might not lessen the cruel people but it will allow those who really love the look to have it without spending hours on end only to be crushed.

God, people can be SUCH jerks. I had someone just today--well, here's a tale for you >.> I found two bots farming the area I was trying to check for Deathmaw. I'd been camping there but lowbie paladin bots keep killing everything; I flagged myself and managed to kill one, and some (so I thought) heroic warrior charged me and tried to kill me.

I emoted at him a few times to stop, but finally had to kill him (he was really terrible). Afterward, I came back, & didn't kill him though he was sat there flagged. I apologized, /followme, /beckon, led him to the points, /point /blame at them to explain. I did /sorry and /hug a few times, while sitting on the ground next to him (both of us flagged) to show good faith. He relogged, but instead of thanking me for not corpsecamping him or something, had this to say:

"hey scumbag.. you feel very safe foryourself? yuo cheat good when blizz makes hordies better.. isn't? why yuo avoid me and you dont stay and fight? but you jump like a ****ing monkey and do your bull****?" (my censors)

So uh... people are idiots >.<

Anonymity can be a terrible thing, sadly. I don't understand it at all, and it frustrates the crap out of me. I just can't fathom how people can be so terrible to another person. It literally disgusts me that our species is so petty and pathetic. Blah. But at least there are still a few good souls here and there, otherwise I'd probably just give up on humanity.

I don't recall seeing any of this shit when I leveled through all the Uldum questlines. I'm so sorry to hear that! Maye this was going on Horde-side, since I play Alliance on this server.

Anyways, among the Petopians on this forum, I know that both Azunara and I play Alliance-side on Cenarion Circle, and Aquillian plays Horde-side. So, you have kindred spirits

Just do me a favor and don't kill some silly-ass bear druid named Aquiyand if he manages to get himself flagged by flying too close to Winterspring whilst leveling

@Riftstalker...unfortunately it was both sides, horde and alliance. I was thrilled for Aquillian when I saw he got his:) I /cheered him when I saw him doing dailies the other day:) I'm a big softy, which is probably why these incidents bothered me so much. I play alliance and I have a baby horde, so in order for my friend and I to talk one of us would have to switch to an alt, lol;) I've actually been quite shell shocked because I've never encountered anything like this on CC before...I've camped almost every rare out there and it's only been with Madexx that it seems to have brought out the worst in people. Maybe it's all that sand making people a little crazy?? hehe Anyways it is what it is. I only shoot flagged horde or alliance if I'm in a battleground so your druid is safe from me:) (And I am TERRIBLE at pvp, lol) Here's to hoping for better camping experiences, and to nice people on both sides of the battlefield:)

I've seen this a few times, even from other hunters that wanted to kill it just so no one else could tame it, then taunting the rest of the hunters in the zone.

Some people just have nothing better to do than to taunt others, I contribute this to them having a miserable life....misery loves company right? Even if they have to drag others down to it in a video game.

I've seen it from either faction, it doesn't often matter.

But I've also seen some really nice people too. Takes all sorts to make the world go round I guess.

Yeah, I saw some real winners helping Mearra camp Sambas and camping my Madexx. One hunter was like what if I wanna kill it to make you mad? We were like uh. And she was demanding something if she did/kill tame it to tell us. Psh.

I've gotten to the point where (after only a couple minutes of yelling at my laptop ) I can be glad that having avatars to hide behind has allowed me such insight into what sort of people are really out there. One more name for my ignore list ... one more person that makes me appreciate my REAL friends (both in WoW and IRL) that much more.

Don't let the bad apples ruin your day. Be sorry for the people that have to interact with them IRL where there isn't an /ignore function. =D

next day see hord BE hunter we show off pets wave i hop on HORD alt we chat i explain i only want red and nothing else we xchanged words names had fun
i leave for raid come back .. some ali pally killed a black one she was taming THIS after we both had stayed up almost without a break 13 hours 13 hours Later so like 4 am green pops I yell on my alt for her to come get it she does ( i notices shes a lil slow taming probably shaking to death )
13 More hours pass 5 pm now and POP its the RED i have sat waiting for i hit tame after dumping sambas #2(dont ask)
And tame starts and then WTF some alli hunter shooting it then killing him his shout after i said THAt was mine " it happens" (Shame on me for first time) forgetting to tag i mean its madexx hes a pussycat dosnt hit hard at all I snarl at him in pms its someone whos been out of game a while but had asked me not a few days ago for help and tryign to reconnect I bitch him out he said i was trying to save u then said he was on phone and apology I saw no hearts he offer 1k gold i said not gonna make up the 26 hours now waiting
HE eventually admits cause i call him on it he was just hoping for a shiny blue and wtf is the grey thing i said YES thast all u get for killing a hunter tamable rare now jokes on you so see ALi kill hord tame aLI kill My tame Hord girl and me still friends both of us now have our madexx's

That is horrible! And yes most don't have the social grace to leave well alone when you start to tame thus the suggestions to the lurker about making taming non-interrupt-able by outside parties. You just have to breathe and remember that there are bad apples, and they don't need to ruin your day. I had a bad apple when i was camping Terrorpene the first time. Needless to say Terrorpene died. and i was angry at the person but then i let it go. I mean a 26hr camp sucks. But in the end all he got to see was what a shameful person he was. Later on in the week when i got the effort up into camping again. I caught Terrorpene as soon as the server was going down for Maintenance.

Plus you got lucky with Sambas. in all my hours of looking i haven't even seen him dead.

Well I think it's not so much that people on the whole are d-bags, but rather that things like rares act as magnets for the ones who are, and when you are focusing primarily on getting that rare, the prancing sh*tsacks can seem like the norm even though they're not.

And said individuals know this and count on it - I'm pretty sure they love the feeling of being able to dim someone's world outlook. They see someone trying to achieve a hard goal, something nice that they - even on a PVE server - have the power to mess up... and immediately they feel like their life has a purpose; you will now pay for every time their mom shut off their xbox and made them do homework, for every jock who put them on their ass on the school yard or b-ball court, and every girl who told them "sorry, it's not you - it's me".

I normally avoid these types by just checking & logging instead of camping (on a PVE server), but even that's not proof positive against the more determined nimrods - a flagged ?? level BE who already had Humar (or more likely Pitch) actually sat there for hours waiting for me to log in so he could taunt me, and kill it so I couldn't get it... I only spent a grand total of maybe 20 minutes checking in between playing my other toons that night, so mostly I just felt bad for the poor asshat (4 hours later I logged in to see him hearthing), and the next morning Humar was patiently waiting for me under the tree.

LOL at myself, so sorry Cialbi...I was on 2 hours of sleep and I just typed the first thing I saw;) Will definitely add you, will be nice to have some more decent people on my friends list:) I am THRILLED to report my faith in the decency of people is slowly being restored! Late last night I realized I needed to do a couple dailies and so as I logged in NPC blares...(of course I always seem to be in Uldum) and its a black Madexx, the one color that my husband has been dying to tame! He works second shift so his time on the game is really limited to weekends, but low and behold he had just walked in the door from work when NPC went off:) SO I tag Madexx while he desperately logs in to WoW, and as I'm attempting to freeze trap it one of those camel riders decides he wants to beat on me...camel guy ends up in the trap and Madexx is NOT happy with me! As I'm fumbling around trying to kill the camel guy and freeze Madexx while pausing to bandage myself and hoping like heck my hubby gets there soon I see a troll hunter fly by, land, and dismiss his pet. I think "oh no here we go again" but I ask the troll hunter to /wait anyway. AND HE DOES! He waited while I finally froze Madexx and waited while my husband (finally) got there to tame, AND he even /cheered at us when the tame was complete!!! I know his name started with an E...but that's all I know, I wish I could get on my horde and thank him properly. Whoever he is, he has no idea what a gift he gave both myself and my husband...so on the off chance they read this...THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts! You have no idea how much your kindness meant to us:)
