Race-change and a new pet.

Unread post by Helio »

Hi,
I'm going to be doing a race change to a night elf within the next few days and I want a new pet...but I just cant put my hand on what I want.... Just cant for some reason.... Right now, I'm a dwarf, my main pet is one of those barking puppies from Mulgore, but I dont think it'll fit the night elf all too well for some reason.... Nor do I want a cat....and so...here I am completely stuck...

The Night-Elf I'm going to make is going to have a generally different personality from what a traditional Night-Elf should have(What player-NE isnt right? lol) He's an engineer, doesnt quite flaunt it but has all those gadgets hidden up his sleeve, a gunslinger(can never get my hands on a good bow...they dont drop for me!) and has a generally rough personality with a few soft spots...especially for animals...but would still go out and hunt big game....however, wont ever catch him wasting it... If he doesnt cook and eat it himself... He would give it to his pet or take the food to some random Taunka or Oracle village, dropping it off on their doorstep before walking away.

I see him as clean-shaven, long blue hair, tight fitting leathers, big jagged knives and a pretty hunting rifle... but that's really bout it... perhaps maye y'all can toss me some pet ideas or hell..even character ideas... I'm all ears and in desperate need of some creativity...lol

Well, I have to say you seem to have your toon's personality pretty much set :D as soon as I saw the first sentence, I thought right, you need to go get the Ghost Saber, but then you said no cats :( so other than that I dont know, maybe a tallstrider?

For some reason I thought of a western look, even though your guy is clean-shaven (could be the whole "leather" bit and because I lived for a few years in AZ). Out there, the land is rough, the animals are rough. Your hunter sounds to me like a carrion bird kinda' guy. They're not as "graceful" and "pretty" as a bird of prey - they're tougher, leaner. But they're also intelligent and adaptable. Your bird would go into any land with you and survive. Not just survive, thrive. And he'd eat whatever you didn't eat. :D

They come in many colors and three different models, so you could find one that matches your personality! I had a carrion bird for a long time and loved him! Sadly, though, I had to abandon him to make room for some other pets. But he was a great pet!

My first impression is "Bear".

But, I don't know. You may find that your wolf is still suitable. Might want to run around and RP a bit without a pet, and see what sort of vibe you pick up from the character.

While this feature of the Grimtotem Spirit Guide wasn't exactly intended... - it will still be possible in future for everyone who wishes to tame this NPC to do so

Might I suggest a Moth?

Someone dig up that Mothra picture!

The raptor and vulture does have a bit of a -click- to it... I'll have to look into those two, meanwhile try RPing without a pet for a bit and see what happens... and yeah, I was going for a slightly western look...lol

If you're BM, a silithid seems pretty anti-elfish.

Ah, is that your avatar? The blue carrion bird, right? That's what I had in mind but wanted to let you choose the color. :P Are you high enough level to not have to try to get Vultros? I believe there are some blue carrion birds in...Desolace? I think that's where they are.

Mmm I love the avatar. I get the feeling he's in Northrend Edrawr, he mentioned the oracles/taunka.

I'd say to get this raptor if you decide to go that route. They're awesome. :D

I really like the idea of a bird, independent, swift and loyal.

That said I have always loved the Storm Crows. They have a strong raven/carrion like look to them and as them being the Druid Night elf flight form model. I think it would fit in with your night elf rather well.

With their AOE Screech ability they would be great for multiple mobs so you wouldn't pull aggro with a mend pet. The debuff that it gives them would defiantly not hurt either.
