Before I got my Soloflayer... er, Soulflayer, my first raiding pet was a black raptor named Kuroshi. Loved him, and kept him around for a long while as a solid DPS pet even while I had the snake for raiding.Wark wrote:5. A raptor for every stable! (No, really, they're fantastic pets. And so sleek!)

Yeah, right now, it's about the buff...Kurasu wrote:Before I got my Soloflayer... er, Soulflayer, my first raiding pet was a black raptor named Kuroshi. Actually, both serpents and raptors are in need of a fresh look. Nothing really new in Cata except for that one serpent, and the raptors are getting kinda old..
Too bad they didn't make a new model for that concept art that was floating around. That would have been nice.
But, if I start seriously raiding, I'll pick up a raptor so I have that debuff available, but otherwise no.

I love raptors! Taigi has a black outlands raptor named Velocity. They're charming, intelligent and powerful creatures that look great alongside pretty much any race of hunter....they can be sleek and elegant while still being dangerous and ferocious.
Game mechanics wise they're also quite useful. A while back about ten of us Petopians did a Tempest Keep raid with all the hunters bringing a wide selection of pets. Since we were all hunters (except our two healers), all of us basically took an additional class's roll with our pets. Mine, via Velocity, was the warrior--his ability as a raptor is basically Sunder, which made taking bosses down much easier.
So yeah....great both aesthetically and for gameplay. Keep your raptor!

Way more than nice - I would have loved to see the spiny raptor make it into the game (e.g. as depicted in the cata concept art, not the Outland raptor, which is a placeholder at best)...Slickrock wrote:Actually, both serpents and raptors are in need of a fresh look.
