To do it correctly though you would need to tame the color you want, and then just kill all of the colors everytime one of them spawned... EXCEPT brown.

Or I just kill the new scorpids with Deimos, my King Krush, and show them and Madexx I don't give a flying **** about his model anymore.

Wow, to leave the Madexx spawning in brown is just effing eftastic. Seriously! I really like the model and was praying that they would make the blue common one a stable colour because then I wouldn't have to do the camp from hell again. But now there isn't even going to be a blue common one Maybe I'll just skip having a pretty scorpian on my other hunters. It was the only Cata rare I was considering getting more of.

Sure, maybe as months go by there will be less people in the area. But some how, I doubt that. The sheer number of bots there is hardly likely to decrease.

some people a rare is a rare no matter what color and some people a rare is rare only when its unique
I dont see why one should be so extreamly upset that a color was made common i do agree the who madexx thing with his really long seeming respawn is a bit duanting

It would have been cool if they had picked the most average color and the most desired color and made it a common but then people would be pissed for their hours of camping for their unique animal to be come common this was seen in

Personally I am glad they are adding a special look to a common mob myself, it would be nice to have a pet that is really neat looking without getting bashed on that I messed up their npcscan

As fun as playing a hunter is... and as many rare pets I have... I think it may be time to not play the class anymore... I have never been this upset (game-wise, not real life upset) over something so small.... and to think I use to tell people who was upset how their class got "nerfed" to just relearn it and they would do just fine.

This is a slap in the face to a lot of people not even including myself. Why not make every rare in the game respawn every 10min. If they are going to do this with Madexx just think what they COULD do to all of your pets that you have acquired since you started playing. Just desserts, people... Just desserts.

If you are that pissed off, then yes, you should stop playing the hunter, and perhaps the game for a while.

Some camp and don't get it, others drive by and get lucky. Frustration is fine, I've certainly expressed my fair share of it, but they've made the best possible change in light of the complaints.

And your 8-hour timer?.. Then I would be pissed, because I put the time in. Let's put them all at a pet vendor for 50G each shall we?..

It's a rare that spawns in FIVE colors still. FIVE- this means in theory you could camp until Blizzard seals paths to have your Taurens come home into the Barns, but you might never see the color you want. And I'm pretty sure Pent said he/she ran into nearly 20 killed Madexx's, along with what was it, 4/5 tames? That is just insane. And that is more than enough reason for someone to actually be pissed off/pissed over/mad as hell.

Brown scorpid is still common.

Madexx can still spawn in 5 colors.

Madexx spawning in 3 colors would be sane- but no it's not to be, it's still remaining five. Not even a slightly less insane four. And with a respawn time averaging 12 hours in a small area that is more heavily farmed, quested and people running about in camping for/looking for grey camel figurines, and the fact that Madexx can't spawn independantly from eachother...

It's sad to say I've seen more people getting TLPD since Cata hit, then I have seen people claim/tame Madexx.

Not seen it in BG.
Not seen it in LFD.
Not seen it on the 4 servers I frequent the most.

Actually I wouldn't mind seeing a scorpion trader, if you have your Madexx you can go to the scorpion trader and trade it for the color you want. Therefor you did your time and still are able to get the color you most desire.

That works to Kalli! And I will admit, the idea with madexx spawning in that many colors was pretty neat, but I can say after camping one color for awhile it does get kind of old having all golds appear XD

"Just rares" are a big deal to most of us, and will probably continue to remain so. Finally obtaining said rare is finding hapiness for us. The problem is, most rares boil down to patience. This one boils down to pure, dumb luck. I didn't even see a -corpse- for over 40 hours, likely because it always spawned in a spot I wasn't. It doesn't take long for a mob to be killed and skinned or tamed. When I finally saw him, it was in Brown. I had been camping for black. And that's not all. I have seen three other hunters with Madexx, total, on my server. All three of them have the red version. I've also tamed the blue. I've never even heard of the black spawning, let alone seen it dead or tamed ( and the same goes for the green ). I do not credit both tames of mine to patience. I credit them to dumb luck, because even though both tames were during the deadest hours of the morning, there were still other people there, and I know they wouldn't hesitate to kill him.

Getting the one you want, even with hours of camping, is the equivalent, luckwise, of flying right into the TLPD when you're not even looking for him. I kid you not. To those who managed either, how in the world did you do it? Did you have a genie grant you three wishes? Catch a leprechaun? Did you also happen to win the lotto that day? I really envy you D:

I don't mind sitting in one spot waiting for hours on end for a rare to spawn. I do mind waiting at one spot for hours on end for a SPECIFIC one out of FIVE mobs, praying said SPECIFIC mob spawns right underneath me, praying no one else is there, praying that if they ARE they won't kill him. This is not fun, or anything close to the definition of fun. X_x

Hello, this is my first ever post on Petopia (please be gentle with me ), I have been following you guys avidly for years and I think the website/forum is great! Anyway, please bear with my short story and I will get to the point of my post. I also have camped Madexx for weeks on and off, I spent my time getting other pets to level while camping him, killing scorps and skinning. After working my way to the west side I killed 2, skinned, hopped on my mount... 2 secs later npcscan went off, blue Madexx dead on the floor.... one more savage leather later... I decided the only way to go was to heavy camp and spent my next day after work doing nothing but circling, ignoring every skin... *twitch*. I did this for 7 hrs solid with nothing but quick toilet breaks in which one of my sons took over for me, half an hr before I called it a night, npcscan goes off, swoop down, start to tame....Bronze Madexx... my least fave colour. I know I'm boring you all, but I will try to get to the point real soon While I was taming him I thought, actually he is quite a pretty colour, right up untill he was tamed then shrunk... *slow blinked, oh dear* I can see why hunters now want the brighter colours.

Anyway! my point is *drum roll* I was thinking maybe we are all barking up the wrong tree with the colour situation, for me, this would be more easily solved if (a previous poster touched on earlier) the tamed Madexx were actually a good deal bigger, maybe about Terrorpene or warpstalker size, this way Bliz could still introduce a common blue and bronze at the size they are at the moment, but for anyone allready owning a bronze or blue like me it would be obvious to anyone looking that we have a Madexx, that way all 5 colours can still spawn, peeps that don't want to waste half of their life camping like me get to own a Horde style scorp so they will be happy, bronze and blue Madexx owners will own a nice size scorp that is obviously a Madexx (and tbh, I think you will all agree that Madexx is a magnificant rare at his full size and deserves not to be shrunk down to the size of a domestic cat) and not a common so they will be happy!

This was not one of the 5 options posted to help solve this crisis, but I personally feel it would be a great problem solver for all.

Let me start off saying that I am seriously not trying to make you upset. Even if it seems that way.

Then let me say that I think you would be thinking differently if you didn't already have a Madexx tamed that you liked.

If you tame a rare and from that point on act like you no longer care about others getting the color/skin they want because you got yours... that is called selfishness.

You have one less thing to worry about. Congratulations! It still doesn't help out the rest of the hunter community that are having problems getting their wanted color/skin.

And what makes you think that your time spent camping a rare is more important than my time spent? Dec. 18th. was the beginning for me. I have been away from the computer three times when Madexx has spawned in the green color. Once I was helping my wife wrap Christmas presents, second time was when I had to goto the drugstore to pick up some antibiotics for my little boy, and the last time about 4-5 days ago I was up making my little boy some chocolate milk and turning on Nick Jr. for him.
Also, I have only left Uldum on my hunter TWICE since I started to camp... both times were after I heard about one being tamed or killed... I went to Orgrimmar to buy the 310% flight speed, and the other time I flew to Un'goro for a quick hop over to Sholozar to get an Oracle egg.

Hell... even my wife has offered to help me camp when I am at work and she had NEVER played WoW before... EVER.

I will touch on two more things before I have to head off to work...

If Blizzard makes Madexx too much bigger he'll be as big as the Horde scorpion mount... I just don't see that happening.

Wain has said that brown will be common and rare, while the other 4 colors will stay rare only... he has not said why Blizzard choosen to do this (he might not be able to), and he has not said that the spawn time frame is staying the same, or if the location is staying the same... OR if Madexx's stats pre-tame will be staying the same... he might not be able to comment on any of that because Blizzard's Noah might not have told him OR told him not to say anything.

Lastly, (I need to hurry up or I am going to be late) what makes you think lowering the spawn time frame to 8hrs cap will bother you? It shouldn't bother you at all, because I and many others would still need to camp for our's, and you are finished camping with the one you want. Remember... some of the old world rares are going to be showing back up and a lot lower spawn rate than what they had before... I don't see anyone complaining about them spawning too fast.

I am trying to be as calm and rational as I possibly can over something like this and all I am getting (mostly getting anyway) is replies back from people who don't care anymore because they camped for 1-2 weeks and was lucky (yes, I said LUCKY) enough to get the Madexx they wanted... while I am moving to my 4th week in a row.

Think about it. No one will be 100% happy. I have said this before.
