The Razza and 4.0.6

Unread post by Skyshot »

Quick question here for those of you that might know.
With the skin change coming to The Razza next patch, does anyone know if it'll be like The Shattering was with pre-tamed pets changing over to new Cata skins?
I'm just wondering if I could get a head start camping her spawn now and have it change to the new white/blue Outland skin on patch day. :)

He'll convert over both in the wild and in yer stables and since he's one of the Rares alive and out in the big wide world at the moment I'd go abuse it.
My main's a Druid so I of course love critters. That counts for something right? Right?

Doesn't hurt that he's tucked away in a very remote campsite (with all the campers slaughtered - eerie...) and therefore won't be killed or tamed too terribly often at all.

I was going to post about this myself, that I was on the hunt for him (her?) in the hopes that I'd tame Razza before 4.0.6

It's VERY important to note that Razza no longer spawns in the arena in Dire Maul. That's where I was looking, so not surprisingly I didn't find anything. I am glad I read the wowhead notes which directed me to the right spot. After I returned from a dungeon or battleground, there Razza was!

There was a practical element of this for me - I am starting to raid again and the froststorm breath will be helpful at times - but it's always important to have a snazzy-looking pet. :)

Warning: it will be *VERY* infrequent that slowing will help in raids. Not saying it'll never happen, of course, but if you're after 'raid-helpful' then there's others you should peek at first!

That said, a chimera (or croc) are invaluable in Heroic Grim Batol, at the last boss. The mobs there need to be slowed down before they reach the eggs, and The Razza has been an absolute *treasure* for that when I've been there.

.... of course, the fact that he's an awesome skin is reason enough to tame him, yes. ;)

Maloriak in Blackwing Descent has a crapton of adds that could use the slowing, but it's still not worth being BM in a raid at the moment. Been going with my sporebat for the casting speed slow on the boss instead. ^_^

Right, that's not an AoE slow. Just a small bonus debuff; you'd mostly just be bringing one for the AoE damage.

Frost Breath is the ranged slow; Froststorm Breath is the channeled AoE ;)

Ah yes! You're right. They totally need to give that a name that's a *little* more different than the slow-breath. :P

In which case, yeah. AOE is *much* more useful. ;) As long as the Froststorm Breath is 'working as intended'. I know there were a lot of issues with it! I think those 'issues' is what kept me from thinking of it in the first place. Fortunately Razza's breath seems to have been a bit more effective, if rather harder to work and aim than, say, Worm's Burrow.

Well, the only one of the current chimaera models that's still having issues AFAIK is poor Nuramoc.

You're right! And I could easily have typed the name of the wrong ability.

Specifically I wanted a pet to help kill the worm adds in the Magmaw fight.

My Odin's been working fine. I press the button when we're in combat and he froststorms mobs. He even turns around to hit them if they aggro on me.

Odin should be able to cast while out of combat, and keep channeling while on the move.
