Re: Quick question [PTR]
1. Blizzard removes brown color in Madexx, and it just becomes regular skinned making those who have the brown angry because they now camped a common skinned mob.
2.Blizzard goes back to making the common a color changer, and removes the blue/brown from Madexx lineup. Some are happy, others are angry because now they cant get a stable blue color.
3. Blizzard removes the new mobs, people are angry cause they dont want to camp for Madexx.
4. Madexx spawns in 3 colors, green, red, black and the common mob comes in a stable blue and brown. Some are happy, others are angry because again they camped for a common skinned mob.
5. Brown and Blue turns red and green. Common skins are now brown and blue stable colors. Again those who liked the blue and brown are now unhappy cause there blue/brown changed colors, and its no longer unique or rare.
6. They change madexx to a color changer. People arent happy because he changes into a color they dont like and have to dismiss it many times to get the color they want. Those with multiple madexxs arent happy because they no longer have a stable color they like.
So really no matter what blizzard does someone is going to be unhappy. Even if they put Madexx on a five hour timer, people are trained that if they see the silver dragon they kill it. No questions asked. So really no matter what.. any camp you are lucky if your at the right time and place to get the rare. Madexx not only has 3 spawn points but he also wanders far from those points and pretty quickly.
I also agree that the brown should be removed from the madexx lineup if its made a commin skinned.
But really no matter what any time blizzard fiddles around with unique skinned rares, especially ones that are camped heavily its a lose-win, win-lose, lose-lose situation.

Case in Point, Humar, Takk, Sewer Beast, Terror Spinner, etc. I'd much rather get the rare than the non-rare versions.Rhyela wrote:After thinking about it, I'm not sure that removing bronze Madexx from the lineup would be so great, either. Believe it or not, there are people out there that prefer the bronze over any other color. Personally, I know I'd be annoyed if my favorite color of the bunch wasn't on a rare. I know that sounds ridiculous, but some people, when given the option, will get a rare over a non-rare even if they're the exact same skin.
So, I dunno. No matter what happens on this, someone's gonna get burned.

Yah but the thing is, that Madexx comes in 4 other colors so if your camping for a color and he pops up in brown some people will not be so happy. Especially if they have been camping for a long time and its the first alive Madexx they see.Gimlion wrote:

Won't they be unhappy if he spawns in ANY color they didn't want?Sasrei wrote:Yah but the thing is, that Madexx comes in 4 other colors so if your camping for a color and he pops up in brown some people will not be so happy. If you want black and he appears in green, you're going to be unhappy. Heck, I wanted green and got black, and was very unhappy. That is, til I spontaneously bonded with him during a pic-taking session. :O But that was just a weird twist of fate.
Really, if he spawns in a color you didn't want, regardless of what color it was, chances are you probably won't be too thrilled about it. Just because ONE of those colors is now on a common really makes no difference to me, honestly. Someone out there desperately wants a bronze Madexx but is frustrated because red popped up. And yeah, they could go get the common, but they're a masochistic hunter like me and they want the rare, not some run-of-the-mill common.
So.....yeah. Just because bronze is now on a common should not take any value away from bronze Madexx. Someone out there still wants him.

Re: Quick question [PTR]
Well unless they make the colors spawn independantly from eachother, it's somewhat stupid to have Madexx spawn in all five colors, when there is a brown scorpid just a stone throws away from him! Seriously it'd be different if they were color changers still, but they aren't. They're a solid brown/bronze. And most people tbh would probably choose a normal scorpion over Madexx because lets face it as you said what are they going to do, camp and pray? Or just go tame an easier to get Scorpid? Most of the time people will choose the easier to get pet because there's less grief, there's less hastle, there's less of a titanic effort and colossal undertaking of the stars and moon aligning for you to get your pet.Rhyela wrote:So.....yeah. Just because bronze is now on a common should not take any value away from bronze Madexx. Someone out there still wants him.
Example: if I had the choice to camp for Krush or get to 85 and get a common as dirt green devilsaur, you know what I'd do? Power level to 85 to get the devilsaur. Why? Because on Rosalyn, on the toon I wanted King Krush the MOST on, I was like lv 83/85 when I got him.
So if I have the choice of either camping until the next god damn expansion or getting a non special non madexx othercolor than brown scorpid, I'm going to choose that, you know why? Because I'd appreciate the damn skin because I want that pet. I would appreciate it as much as if it was special, but am denied that chance to do so because of;
A: How Madexx spawns. 5 Mobs, 1 respawn timer.
B: How Madexx opperates. 5 Mobs, 1 respawn timer.
C: Where Madexx Spawns. 5 mobs, 1 respawn timer, in a heavy traffic zone [even low time is 25 horde and 25 ally in the zone!]
D: That Madexx seems to be the most luck based tame ever, even MORE so than Krush.
If they're not even going to remove the bronze skin from a chance of spawning I don't see why I should even bother camping it, my luck has become absolutely horrid lately and my chances are that if I ever see Madexx, it'd be a brown skin. But I guess I should be happy I've not seen Madexx at all. I mean I'll never have to clear my cache ever at this rate! Score!
Now if you'll excuse me I have a corner that hasn't seen me be bitter enough to go haunt.

Actually no I really don't want to see it reimplimented. I actually heard that some hunters would snob others because said hunters had elite tames and other had 'normal' tames. There was even false confusion that elites were BETTER than normal tames, or rares, because not just the elite tag or boss tag but the fact, Oh elite/rare pets are more special and do more damage!. I knew someone who still swore up and down Brokentooth was the best god damn cat cause 'oh he has the bestest best fastest attackspeed ever!!!!!!!!' Even well after normalization. And like others who I tried to explain elite pets aren't any more special than non elite....Pwncess wrote:This is why I wish they'd kept the "Elite" part of their name even after tame.Gimlion wrote:Case in Point, Humar, Takk, Sewer Beast, Terror Spinner, etc. I'd much rather get the rare than the non-rare versions.

I mean idiots are already cropping up whining that pets that AREN'T wolves, cats or devilsaurs are useless worthless piles of trash that can't do dps worth shit. I don't think we need to go back to the era of elite > normal ontop of that cruddy mindset.
Btw why are people so upset over Pitch when Pitch is no different to Sian. It's silly.

My reasoning is because I camped Humar for a week when I turned level 23 so I could get him.
I liked having that thing that signified that I'd done actual work to get him, not just went and got any black lion in the game.
It meant something to me, not to be rubbed in anyone's face.
Even without the Elite status, you're going to run into people who will say their pet is better somehow.
Whether they got the blue Madexx instead of the brown, Shy-Rotam from a quest or the same (or used to be) skin of the rare spawn Rak'shiri.
To me it just comes down to showing that I had to work for mine.
That's why I only go for special skins now, like Sambas. People look at it and know it's the only one and I had to work for it.
If it has another tameable mob in the game with the same skin, I don't even bother.

A five hour max timer would mean he would spawn 3 times guaranteed within the amount of time he has spawned once and MAYBE twice now. So if you are camping Madexx and you see it killed or tame, you know he MUST spawn within the next 5 hours... no more guessing between 6hrs and 24hrs for the next one to show up.
BTW... Madexx has at LEAST five (!) spawn points... I know because I have seen him dead at each one... Know how I know he wasn't wandering around? Because I have been in the area for almost a MONTH and I see people jump him before I even see him spawn... right in my face.
Blizzard should just put all colors on non-rare scorpions and then we'll see who really cares about his looks without the "rare" tag hanging over its head. I would be getting a green and a red one... and maybe even a brown.
Re: Quick question [PTR]
I camped Humar for a week when I turned 23, too (and I actually lost him once to another hunter who shot him while I was midtame and tamed him for himself) - before they even added Pitch to the game. That's not why he matters to me - he matters to me because I've had him for years now and he's been by my side throughout playing my hunter.Pwncess wrote:My reasoning is because I camped Humar for a week when I turned level 23 so I could get him.

(And it's not like he's so very rare. You can't throw a rock without hitting a black lion pet these days, and it's not because of Pitch - I see the skin all the time on sub-76 hunters.)
The most recognition he's ever had from other players is people laughing when they see the name (my hunter is named Problem, and Humar, being my first non-temporary pet, got named Solution).
Funnily enough, of all the pets I've tamed, the one that's gotten the most attention is Gosh-Haldir, the green Cataclysm-model rare croc from Loch Modan. Everything else, no matter how rare or unique - and I have a lot of rare skins on my lvl85 hunter - has gotten so few comments that I might as well be having a featureless black square for a pet for all people care. Even Lone Hunter with the sword in has only ever gotten one comment, and that was a "wtf is going on here" when I'd just tamed him and had yet to leave his spawn location.

Re: Quick question [PTR]

Ryai, I understand what you're saying, I really do - but there are people out there who have had the opposite experiences and don't have pathetic luck, and maybe those folks do want a Madexx spawn to be bronze.
I understand your frustrations (trust me, I'VE BEEN THERE, so I'm not patronizing you), but unfortunately we can't let our individual experiences, for better or for worse, determine what we think is best for others and determine what Blizzard should or should not do. Especially when said decision will affect millions of players (granted not everyone plays a hunter, but we are still many). So, what is unfair for you or Bob or Jill may be great for my friend or Sally or Joe.
I'm not really sure what my point is. I guess that I see why you feel the way you feel, but that there are other people who haven't been through what you've been through and would be happy with the changes. /shrug

Or does my arguments for certain Madexx changes actually hold water and can't be argued with?
I am not "out" to change Madexx for my personal reasons... I am stating what anyone with sense of what a "fun' camp is sees Madexx camping and how it is nowhere near being "fun".
I can't deny that some people just get lucky and get the Madexx they want on the first try after only camping for two days, but what percentage of hunters is that? 1%? 5%?
I just find the camp to be horrendous and I really believe that the people who are happy with their Madexxs would be feeling the same way me and Ryai feel about the situation if they didn't happen to get lucky and be at the right place at the right time.
I wouldn't go so far to say the Madexx camp has the odds of a lottery, but there are so many circumstances against people who want Madexx in general that something needs to be done... and if they want a certain color the time they spend there drastically goes up too... unless they just get "lucky" (or have help).
On a side note, I believe Blizzard is trying to get people to stop complaining (via tickets and emails) about Madexx by putting the common one in the game so the hunters who can't get a rare one will stop saying how hard the camp is... because now Blizzard can just say... "If you don't want to camp, then tame the common one". Which is entirely fine with me, but why keep the common color in the Madexx spawn table when anyone with any common sense would get the common scorpion and not go through the torture of camping a rare for MANY hours that looks just like the common one.
Normally I am all for "get the rare and not the common one", but with Madexx he doesn't just spawn in one color so in order to get a brown Madexx you have to camp for him... and HOPE HOPE HOPE that he will spawn in brown... but why?

There is a common solution to this and it will only upset a very small section of people with Madexx... Let the ones who have a brown Madexx keep him brown, then take brown out of the Madexx spawn table so the people who don't want brown can safely camp another color, and then give the common one the brown color... and then for good measure make the camp just a little bit easier (one location spawn point or a smaller spawn timeframe).
I totally sympathize with Ryai and I believe he/she fully understands what I am saying... I just don't get why no one else does.

Oh yeah...selfishness.

My want for Humar's elite status to return is for people to see that he's the real thing and not just easy-to-get Pitch.
It's just a thing I have and will always have. It's like a peeve of mine, for people to see my pet and not be able to tell he's something you have to work for.
I strive to get only the pets who don't share skins so people can know they're different. It's not that people actually care, it's that I like to think they do. I like to imagine that I can tame a pet and stand in Org for everyone to gawk at me and go "Wow, that hunter just got a rare pet!"
I've had Humar for so long and he will continue to stay by my side. He's my Cata raid pet ^_^
[I"m currently suffering from a huge neck headache, so my thoughts on this subject are not coming through my fingers as well as they are in my head.]
Bottom line, I value my pets based on how much work they take to get them. The longer I have to camp it, the more it means to me. My favorite right now is my King Krush. Only ever seen him up twice: first time dead, second time tamed.
If I can just walk there and get it, I don't want it...unless of course it's a rare spawn that just happens to be up when I arrive; like this morning when I flew to Winterspring to see if Rak'shiri was wondering or not (since I dropped Bangalash. I wanted a more rare tiger skin) and BAM, there he was just cruisin' past where Shy-Rotam spawns for the quest. All hail my new pet, Montecore*!
*Cookies if you get the pet name.
* I'd also like to apologize if it seems I've hijacked this thread with a different topic. I really didn't mean for it to happen. D: *
@Pent: All I can say is that people will complain no matter what you give them. You could make it baby poop green but if it's rare and takes a long time to camp people will go for it. I really have no response to what you've said, don't think you're being ignored.
I've never looked at camping as fun. I think it's work, and if you really want the pet, you'll put in the work for it. Nobody ever said the thrill of the hunt was easy. That's why they're rare spawns and some are rarer than others which makes them more special.
