Pets in Avatars and Signatures

Unread post by Araela »

I had posted something about this a few weeks ago in the WoW General section, but did not get much information so I figured I would try here also since it does pertain to pets.

I know there is something called the wowmodelviewer that can be used to get pet images for signatures and avatars. My question is, what programs do people use for this? I don't have Photoshop or really any photo editing applications so any help would be greatly appreciated. I am a student teacher so I could definitely see myself purchasing some software for projects and also for this, but it depends on the cost. I am aware that Photoshop is several hundred dollars.

So to recap:

1) I would like to make a custom avatar and signature - using the wowmodelviewer but not sure where to get it.
2) What software do you, Petopians, know of that could be used for something like this?
3) As for the angles and positions of the pets, can this be altered with the wowmodelviewer?

Thank you all for your help.

I'd love one too, made a board in the avatar and siggys board but got no response for myself. I adore those animated siggys!

Anyways, I made my own from the loading screen, don't love it but it works well enough I guess.

And yay a student teacher, what grade are you going for? I'm a high school teacher myself. I can thus tell you that most adobe products can be bought on the cheap as a teacher or student-they are a great company for giving discounts. Prices here

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements which is a wonderful program. If you are not planning on doing hard core graphics on your computer but want a nice program to edit, layer images with etc, it is a very good buy at $120.

Good luck!

* The Wow Model Viewer isn't an official program, so it's updated and downloadable from a site that varies by how updated it is--but this site here is generally the right one.

* I use Paint Shop Pro 9--older program, but I like to use what I know. I would suggest you try out GIMP before you buy anything, though--it's a FREE program, and many people swear by it.

* With ModelViewer, you pick the NPC you want, you can alter the background/lighting, and you can choose from any of the animations available to that NPC. You can slow the animation, freeze-frame it, turn and zoom the model in any way you like--it's quite good :)

Hope this helps!

Thank you both!

I'm currently getting certified in K-12 General and Instrumental Music Education. My student teaching internship is a combination of elementary and middle school band and general music. It's a blast thus far- I was in a different internship for the first part of the school year but my university took me out of that one due to some issues with the mentor teacher not being willing to let me teach. Kind of counter-productive... haha.

I would like to teach high school band eventually, but for now I've fallen in love with those crazy middle schoolers so that's where I requested to be placed for my internship! :)

Totally not relevant to the actual discussion (I made my avatar and sig in some strange program I can't even use called "Seashore") but music has been prob'ly the single most consistently influential thing in my life. Although I started playing piano when I was 4, I only started to realize how powerful and amazing music could be in my middle school band (thanks mostly to an AMAZING band director). Just old enough for it to have started to occur to me that one day I WAS going to actually be an "adult" *shudder*, but not so old I thought I knew everything. =D

Thanks to Pengupuff for the sig!

Wanted to add that currently the freshest Wow Model Viewer downloads are from this Google-code thingy: http://code.google.com/p/wowmodelviewer/downloads/list

I've found that while the WoW Model Viewer site proper has its uses, none of the downloads offered are even sort of current.

I use Photoshop, and I recommend it if you can get it. The GIMP is a good and free substitute though. :)
