Re: Which pet family is your weakness?
I've always been very strict with myself about one pet per family--I'll have at most two from one family while I'm trying to decide between them. There are some where the decision has been very difficult--birds of prey, spiders, and wasps all have such a wonderful variety. But if I ever were to break my rule, it would probably be with beetles--I have an inordinate fondness for them

Re: Which pet family is your weakness?
Both my upper level hunters have a thing about cats. I just like WoW felines I guess. But really, for me, it's warpstalkers. Across both Shaon and Sochi, I have all six colors, a complete "phase" of warpies.

Re: Which pet family is your weakness?
I honestly can say that Im not attached to any certain family. Each family has either models or skins that I just dont like. Dont care for the hulking cat or saber cat, i only like OCJ worg skin, taratula models i done care for, outland raptors, armored pigs (unless they are ablaze!) etc etc
i guess i have partiality to certain skins more than families as a whole.
well
the closest thing i can admit to is devilsaurs. its just that Krush is the only color I like atm, but i enjoy the model. i could see myself being obsessed with them if they had more appealing skins
(deep blue, bright red, purple, spectral)

Re: Which pet family is your weakness?
I'm going to have to say cats. I looooove cat! Their skins are beautiful, their sounds, everything! Even though my favorite is a Spirit Beast he is still a feline spirit beast.

This one I tamed waaaaay back in the day at around level 55 or so? She's among my favorite of all time as well.

And here are some more. Can you tell I like Saber cats?

Still hunting for Gondria, Duskstalker (as a Horde will probably be entertaining to watch me hunt for), Rakshiri, Human and Sambas.
I also demand that Blizz use this... it's just so beautiful.

Re: Which pet family is your weakness?
Doing the math across both my hunters, it's definitely winged things with a side of spirit beasts, cats, and beetles.
I have 5 birds of prey + 3 more planned tames (need to level up for Aotona, find the damn Brilliant Macaw in Deadmines, and the third is Hell-Hoot), 4 cats + 1 more planned (the shiny STV cat from next patch), 4 spirit beasts and 3 beetles. Plus 2 wind serpents, 1 moth and 1 carrion bird for good measure.
I might need to make a third hunter for all the owls I'm missing, as I'm running out of stable space on the second...

Re: Which pet family is your weakness?
Hrmmm this is a tough one for me. Mostly I think it because I've been tempted but not succumbed. When I have gotten a duplicate pet it is more a specific pet I've tried to get on a different hunter. To varying succes..
The first pet I hunted down and tamed was Sekai, my orange hyena. When I had to roll a new hunter on a different server I found myself really missing her, so I tried getting the same skin as Sekai, but it just wasn't the same so I let her go. I bawled tears. It made me so sad even though it wasn't really Sekai. I've got a white hyena called Ijaba on Akycha now.
The other one was Wolf who back in the day on my first hunter I let go of my first pet to keep. He always was second fiddle to Sekai though and I eventually had to let him go and cried. When I created Akycha I went out and tamed Wolf again and she's been with her ever since.
Finally there is my snow leopard Mauja. She was originally tamed on my troll hunter. When my alliance guild became active again and I knew we would eventually be raiding, I went and got Mauja from Dun Morough. Leveling a level 8 cat up was a pain.
Worms severally tempt me though, but I love Thor so much so he's the only worm for me. So, I don't have a weakness yet per say. But, it is early yet and I got lots of stable slots to fill now so we will see.

Re: Which pet family is your weakness?
This is pretty easy for me. While I don't necessarily get multiples of a pet family on one hunter, there are certain pet families that I get on alt hunters regardless of race or appearance.
I don't think I've ever had a hunter that has been without a boar. I adore pigs and boars IRL, and the boars in-game are just so freaking cute! I love their run, I love their idle animations, I love their stocky appearance, I love their squeal. Everything about them is just fantastic, I love them! My favorites, however, are:

And also:

But only because I have the flaming one. I don't *usually* go for the armored models. I've had them but typically release them not long after, and go get the un-armored instead.
My second favorite is carrion birds. I love how they look and fly, I think I especially love their long tail feathers. I love both the Outland and old-world models, though I'm not especially fond of the Northrend (condor) models. My favorites are:

While I like Trachela and Spiteflayer, they aren't my favorites.
And finally, I just absolutely love wind serpents! Their swim animation is beautiful, their scales are shiny and gorgeous, and they have such pretty faces. If they ever implement a wind serpent spirit beast (non-ghosty, hopefully), I think I would pee myself.
My favorites are:

Not real crazy about the Outland models as they don't look snake-like enough to me in the face.

Core hounds and Spirit Beasts.....but i love my new lava turtle.
Re: Which pet family is your weakness?
Would have to be spirit beasts for me. Seeing them in wotlk made me roll a new hunter and started me on my collecting.
Re: Which pet family is your weakness?
I think there needs to be a Shale Spider Spirit Beast!

Beetles.
And I have what will eventually become this guy...

I *had* this one, but made myself get rid of it, because PFFFFT, who in their right mind needs 6 beetles?

Yeah.... thinking of going back and retaming him. XD
Edit: Come to think of it. I kind of want to get this guy too, to complete the Uldum set.

I actually don't really connect much with the exotics. I only have 2 spirit beasts (Skoll and Ghostcrawler), and I've never used them. Probably because I really enjoy being SV spec. That might change if clefthoofs become tamable... >.>
Edit: This post made me realize I could make a beetle rainbow.

Re: Which pet family is your weakness?
Raptors and devilsaurs. Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of having my own, pet dinosaur, and these families make that dream come true
I wish the pterrodaxes in Un'goro were tamable as well, and came in a few more colours (red and white! I want my Terrorsoar!)
I also have a fondness for Silithids, the classic "zergling" models that is. I just wish they had a few more colour options. The deep purple and red used on the Un'goro Boss Silithid model would look really nice on a classic silithid.
Scorpids too. I love the cute little noises scorpids make, and have been trying to justify camping for Maddex and keeping Scorponok, my classic red and black scorpid, when I have him.

Spirit beasts and cats. It is an effort of WILL to keep my kitties down to Griever and Altan (Sambas).

Re: Which pet family is your weakness?
I never really thought about it, but... I guess I have a devilsaur weakness! I don't like having more than one pet of the same family, but on my troll, I couldn't bear to part with Bane, my black devilsaur, when I finally found King Krush, so now I have them both, and I'm currently hoping to turn up King Mosh, too. I'd complete the set with the white skin if I thought it looked good with her. I'd say I have a spirit beast weakness, but I don't. I just have a rare weakness. I have all the spirit beasts on my draenei even though I really don't want four ghostly pets with identical abilities just because abandoning a spirit beast destroys me.
Pretty soon I'm going to have to free up some space, though. Umm... I also have a mental warp stalker weakness, but I don't actually have more than one because I already have a billion tank pets. I definitely, definitely don't need more tank pets. XD

^This. My beetle and wasp both went silithid when I wasn't looking. I'd love to have a regular silithid in addition to my ant silithid but am so far holding firm, waiting to unearth my silithid mount. Who knows what will happen then!Raydex-of-the-dawn wrote:Silithids. I have four...plus a silithid beetle and two silithid wasps. xD
And yay, beetle rainbow! The scarab beetles truly are gorgeous.
