Renaming Gosh-Haldir...again

Unread post by Varethyn »

That's right, again :P As soon as my little goblin hunter Kwillix hit lv15 he made the long trek from Azshara to Loch Modan to tame this lovely lady. I had named her Ripfang, the first name to come to mind. While it suits her, I later decided to have a mythical name theme, so she's sort of out of place.
I can only find one female mythical crocodile/aligator and can't seem to think of any other mythical names that might suit her. Help please :D
Here's a pic:

Yup, made that same trek on my Goblin when I was leveling her, but oh boy, was it worth it! This is the nicest croc skin in the game, for me. Mine had a sex-change and became Coin.

Now, back to the task at hand. Firstly, congratulations on taming your beauty, you guys look fab together! The only two crocodile goddesses that come to mind are Sobek and Ammut, both Egyptian. Ammut is not fully crocodile, but has the head of one, so I suppose that might work.

Unfortunately, those are the only two I can think of!

There's the Aztec Coatlicue or Kipaktli 'serpent lady' who takes the form of a crocodile.

Grats on your own croc, thanks and glad you think so :) My little gobbie's going for an all- or near-all-green theme so hopefully most of them will match ;)
Not sure but I thought I read on Wikipedia that Sobek and Ammut were male, though I'm not against using male names for female pets. So those are possible :)

I must have missed those  but they don't seem to click. Thanks of course, I might use them for my upcoming Worgen hunter's croc :)
Also, the name doesn't necessarily need to be of croc/gator gods/goddesses as long as its mythical and fits the croc :)

You're so right, Sobek is male...buuuut, Ammut is not. She's a female demon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammut

Also spelled Ammit and, my favourite, Ahemait. The name means "Devourer" or "Bone eater", so that sounds pretty appropriate!

I named mine Sebek, just another spelling of Sobek, maybe thats more feminine?

Same person, different spellings:

Sobek
Sebek
Sochet
Sobk
Sobki
Soknopais
Suchos

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sobek

Sobki is kinda cute for a female I think.

So many good names :D
I ran them all past my croc and Auraka, Hina and Kuula seem to stick most. Leaning more towards Kuula.
Thanks for all the help guys and girls, I'm gonna bookmark this page for help with future croc names :)
