Why do you like your class?

Unread post by Redith »

This is an idea I had, all of us play hunters and we know why they rock, but what about the other classes you love? Heres your chance to say why you love your class. Be as descriptive as you want. Explain why its fun, if its easy to level, maybie the challenges.
WHo knows, maybie someone will see what you wrote and it might inspire them to roll that class

Only two classes I've ever really gotten into outside of hunter are warlock and priest. Pets and dots I guess. I suppose the multitasking aspect of all 3 is what I enjoy. CC is much fun, standing back and keeping everything moving along, catching that stray that's going for the squishies. Tossing that big heal at the right time, keeping all the balls in the air during those ohcrap moments. I hark back to vanilla when CC was a must, and I was pretty good at it. "Save the healer" is engraved on the insides of my eyeballs from all the mmo's I've played, and I like playing classes that let me do that.

I really like a lot of classes in the game. In fact, I think I only despise rogues, probably since I both suck at playing them, and because the whole sneaking around idea is repulsive to me, except in an RP sense.

Favourites are Elemental Shamans and Balance Druids. I love being able to do decent damage, but also have the ability to heal, and because of greater armour, having more survivability. I've come to realise that ranged is definitely my thing, but not really cloth wearers (though Warlocks are alrightish), unless I'm playing a healer. Most melee classes leave me a little bit cold. I also adore totems, which are a bit like pets without a personality.

I've really enjoyed healing too, though I first swore after deleting my Holy Priest long ago in disgust that I'd never do it again. But so far I've tried Discipline Priests and Resto Druids, and both have some definite charms. Am really looking forward to trying out Pally healing and Shammy healing too, so I can decide a favourite. :)

I've played and enjoyed all of the classes in-game, but there's two aside from hunter that stand out as making me say I LOVE THIS CLASS.

First off, rogue! Being able to spy on people, see things I'm not meant to, watch my target and follow them until they've left safety; being able to play around with friends by stalking their alt and messing with them, SHADOWSTEP in all its glory (from reaching unreachable wall-jumping jerks to skipping fall damage by casually shsing a neutral mob), and making sure that my real enemies aren't safe -anywhere-... Well, this was my main in TBC, but it all still applies. Being able to beat people purely by outskilling them always felt great, as I never felt rogue was really easy to master.

Second, FIRE MAGE in PvP. *OoOOoOOoo creepy music!* Scary at times but mostly pure awesome. This was a massive challenge, but I played fire PvP throughout WotLK. Portals, slowfall, free food, and then the pure unadulterated FUN that fire involved. The survivability was frustrating as hell, but the RNG reactivity was just great. Back when Blast Wave was REALLY a knockback (lol Thunder Bluff raid? ...BYE)... and when it dismounted flying players... <3 I stopped playing this just because of the Blast Wave change & change in RNG playstyle. You used to play by controlling a fight basically by trying to run away and lock someone down while stopping to Scorch, and then slamming them with whatever procs you got. Hot Streaks, Blazing Speed procs, using blink-Dragon's Breath to stop a last second heal when Impact (Fire Blast) was on cooldown... it was so much fun :)

Nowadays, I play my hunter. I can track everything (without Blackened Worg Steaks!), I can SORT of stealth (I'm one of those who LOVES Camouflage), I can permanently stop/snare everything, I can use Master's Call, AoE slows, Deterrance, BW, PvP trink, Roar of Sacrifice, Scatter Shot and Intimidation--among other things--to help myself and allies stay safe... The utility and playstyle is really quite fun, although I'm not yet having as many "OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS CLASS" moments -yet-.

Warlock: I've always had a little fascination for necromancy, thinking it's way cool and such, so naturally I'd want to play one. Back when I started, in vanilla, we didn't have any actual necromancer class, the closest we had was warlocks. In lore they're kind-of necromancers, but sadly not in the game. I' grew to love my lock and her DOTs, though, and when she got into a raiding guild she became my main quickly.
Death Knight: Imagine my anticipation for WOTLK, then. A whole expansion focused on the undead! I was so excited! The expansion itsel turned out to be a downer, but the new class was more than worth it. An undead warrior/spellcaster. That practises necromancy. First thing I did was roll up a DK, and I liked it from the start. The playstyle was fun and new, and I squeed every time I saw my own little pet ghoul running next to me.
Mage: My undead mage was one of the first characters I rolled. I liked him from the start, even if I thought the class was a pain initially. He was awesome, he danced awesomely, he laughed awesomely and he simply looked awesome. Eventually I learned the class properly too, and got him to 60. If my warlock hadn't gotten into the aforementioned guild the little magic zombie would have been my main. He was my main before that, and recently he's been reclaiming the position.

I liked DK too but I was terrible with it :D Question, if you play with sound, Saturo--what'd you think when they changed the ghouls' voices? (From "Give... or... or take" to just grunting, etc)

Pretty much exactly how I felt 'bout mine :D

I was a bit sad, but it didn't really make sense for him to be talking about trade. He's still my cute little ghoulie! *Hug*

Other than hunter, the only class I've got more than one of is druid. I think because they're able to keep up with how indecisive I am. =D

I absolutely love tanking, and druid tanking is a hoot. I was in a very very nice guild at 60 who let me tank some stuff while our guild was progressing in MC, and I loved being a rawrbear. Almost indestructible plate armor? Nope. Ability to use every weapon in existence and shiny shields? Not so much. Neato tricks to disarm or confuse my opponents? Um, no. Mastery of a number of diff'rent fighting stances, each of which allows me to use a number of abilities that I've trained ... Hey guys? I'm a freakin' bear. I have metric butt-tons of armor and stamina coming out the wazoo. Point me at the bad thing and I will maul it in its ugly face, OK? OK.

Of course I had to heal/decurse too (lol @ old fear mechanics with no fear ward XD), but thanks to having one set of tier gear and only 3 druids in guild I quickly had a very decent set of healing gear. And I had FUN leading the healing channel. And provided I had time to drink before a pull, I could fill either role adequately. And I always had rebirth and (eventually) innervate if somebody needed a little help or a "do over" button.

There's also the fun of being able to fly directly to a cave full of nasties, turn into a kitty/rogue and sneak past all the annoying little mobs, and then turn into a bear/warrior once I've found my target. Oh, and tracking. I'm addicted to tracking. XD

Hunter; ...Well, let me put it this way. I have 115 mounts, 135 vanity pets, and my stable is full. I think you get the idea. The playstyle is also the one I do best with.

Mage; I SET STUFF ON FIRE. I SHOOT FIRE FROM HANDS AND YOU DIE. The end.

Priest; Shadow priests are just so... dark. Sure we have warlocks, but I AM shadow death itself as a shadow priest.

Shaman; Well, it WAS fun to heal. Now it's stressful (to be kind) and while I can do it and do it well... healing has really lost its fun for me. But the idea of a shaman, so natural and earthy, was just so... calm and comforting to me.

Rogue; They are fast, efficient, fluid killers. They come, they kill, they're gone. It feels like I'm part of like, Secret Service or something o_O

DK; ...I dunno. I literally push whatever lights up and 2 - 3 shot things. Also, pet zed. Rad.

Druid; See hunter and shaman. I'm in tune with the earth, and I can be a cute fuzzy aminal. I was a bear tank, but bears are awkward to tank with. (See the latest patch notes; reduced reduced decreased decreased down from....)

Warlock; See shadow priest, mage, and hunter.

Warrior; I RUN UP TO YOU AND SMASH YOUR FACE IN. What's more fun than mindless face bashing???

Paladin; Well. It was the only class I didn't have yet. And I HAD to use the name Oximusprime somewhere. I actually don't really like Paladins. I've tried to play several, I wanted to be ret but he's ended up holy (all of my healing capable classes are off spec healing. 'Cept the shammy. Main spec migraine. I mean resto.)
