Addons you use!
Greetings, Petopians and Petopia Lurkers!
I was curious as to what addons people use, and why? This included UI arrangements too. The reason I'm asking is because I generally like my set-up, but I'm sure there are other addons out there that would be extremely useful to have. I am also not limiting this to hunters - any addons you use for any of your characters would be cool to know about!
The addons I use (and why!) are, in no particular order:
NPC Scan is a great addon for keeping track of npc rares that you are searching for. It will notify you if you are in the vicinity of a rare that you are tracking, and will pop up with a target window of the rare you have found. The only problem with this is, of course, that once you have seen the rare in the game it becomes cached and will no longer notify you with a triumphant calling of horns that makes you jump out of your seat if your volume is up too loud! To remedy this cache problem, delete your Cache folder in your WoW folders. I like this addon because it is easy to use and helps me find rare pets that I want to tame!
NPC Scan Overlay will mark where certain rare mobs spawn on your map and minimap. Again, I like this addon because it is easy to use and helps me find rare pets that I want to tame!
Silver Dragon Similar to NPCscan, this addon will notify you if you mouse-over a rare, and pops up with a target window of the rare you have found. I like this because sometimes I don't notice a random rare (like a humanoid) at first, but I'll mouse over them and suddenly I am notified that they are nearby.
Auctionator
Like many people who play WoW, I have a bank alt that sells things on the Auction House. This addon makes finding the prices for buying or selling quick and easy. It makes posting auctions easy too, and allows you to do a scan of the Auction House so you have a rough idea of what prices on certain items are.
Postal is a great addon for organizing mail and allowing you to open multiple messages with the click of a button. I like it because I can sort between "open mail from AH" or "open successful auction mail only" etc. It's very easy to see what mail you have, and even refreshes your mailbox while you're "Opening All" so it still only requires that one click of a button to open hundreds of messages!
Bartender4 is the addon I use to customize my bars. I like it because you can change the rows/columns of each bar, as well as the size and number of the buttons, and spacing in between them. It also allows you to move the bars wherever you want, so if you don't like the Blizzard UI you can change things around. They even have an option to keep the Blizzard Art Bar if you like the traditional look of the bottom bars.
Sexy Map is a customizable minimap addon that allows you to see coordinates of your current location, show or hide buttons (both Blizzard UI and addon buttons), and you can change the size, shape, and appearance of the minimap itself. It also allows you to move the minimap and other windows such as the tracking of quest logs and achievements.
Recount is great for keeping track of dps and healing in particular. It will show you all kinds of data on various encounters you and the group you are with have with bosses, trash mobs, etc. This includes overall damage dealt, damage taken, healing received, healing dealt, dispells, pet damage, etc. It's nice to organize and get an idea of your own data so you can see how you measure up to other people in your group.
HealBot Continued is a very customizable addon that helps with healing. It allows you to cast various heals depending on what mouse/button combination you have set. I also like to use it when I'm healing as my raid frames, so I can see the entire raid but have it smaller or larger, depending on what I am doing. I personally usually have it set as a small window so I can easily click everyone's names for heals, but also can see what is going on in the fight. It has various fonts and colors you can use, as well as the ability to track and heal pets if you desire.
Deadly Boss Mods is a must-have for raiding and heroics in my opinion. It helps you to keep track of what the boss is doing when, when to dispel certain spells or interrupt them, etc. It also allows you to keep track of what is going on in a battleground and gives you "timers" for when certain bases like in Arathi Basin or Alterac Valley, etc.
GearScore This I may or may not be keeping. At this point with everyone going off of item level instead of gearscore, it's sort of obsolete. That being said, this is a very nice addon for organizing people's gear and inspecting what they have gemmed or enchanted.
SellJunk I love this addon. I can set it to either automatically sell junk (grey items only) when I visit a vendor, or I can click the "SellJunk" button at the top of the vendor window to manually do this.
I'm pretty sure that's all that I use regularly- I've used the Peggle addon in the past, but don't use it anymore because I have the full game on my computer now if I want to play it.
I may be forgetting a couple, but my break is just about up so I will come back to this later and edit if I have any that I forgot.
Anyway, just thought I would share and find out what the rest of you use also!

I've been enjoying RandomCompanion for minipet and mount summoning. It has an option to auto-summon minipets, and you can choose the summoning frequencies right in the spellbook interface.

Excellent, thanks! I heard of another one for mounts - but I cannot remember the name. Omnipet.. or something like that. I'll definitely check out RandomCompanion!

Re: Addons you use!
Okay regarding this- is there a button somewhere? I can find when I look in the addons or type /randomcompanion the list of commands- do I need to make a macro for each command or is there some button/bar I'm just not seeing? Thanks!gormanghaste wrote:I've been enjoying RandomCompanion for minipet and mount summoning. Re: Addons you use!
yes, it just has commands, not buttons--if you want to put it all in one macro, you can use:
/rc [nomodifier] mount
/rc [modifier] pet
Most of the time I just have the minipet on auto-summon. if you go to the add-on section of the interface menu, you can set up some basic preferences.

Re: Addons you use!
I use feed machine to feed pets...very handy
Titan Panel, (Recommended Zone)..shows co-ordinates where you are plus shows the levels of the zones
on the world map.
Button Forge...doesnt change Blizz UI but lets you add bars, buttons, rows, columns..as many as you wish.
Npcscan and overlay.
Didnt know you could use npcscan and silverdragon at the same time

Re: Addons you use!
It's actually recommend that you do cause SilverDragon will pickup any rares and dont need cache clearing like NPCScan does.takaeza wrote: Didnt know you could use npcscan and silverdragon at the same time

Re: Addons you use!
Things that tell me stuff: Deadly Boss Mods, Omen, Recount, Titanpanel (mostly for the durability meter, tbh)
Things that make my UI tell me more things: OmniCC (puts cooldowns on buttons), Aloft (new nameplates)
Things that just make my UI prettier: Bartender (action bars), Xperl (unit frames), IceHUD (player/pet/target info), Skinner (with SunnArt, for the viewport)
I also use Clique on my healing chars.

Re: Addons you use!
For me, the prominent ones which I find worth recommending are Bartender4, _NPCScan, EnergyWatch Reborn, Quartz, RaidChecklist, Deadly Boss Mods, OmniCC, Skada, and GTFO. Bartender4 is great for cleaning up your UI and conveniently making your keybinds. EnergyWatch Reborn creates a movable bar that shows your current energy or focus level, along with your current number of combo points if applicable; very useful for quickly seeing whether a Cobra Shot or Arcane Shot is a good idea. OmniCC shows the remaining CD on an ability in seconds or minutes, right on top of the ability's icon (it is compatible with many common actionbar addons). Skada does everything that I need out of Recount without taking up all that memory space.
Finally, GTFO is a recent find that is incredibly useful. If you're standing in AoE damage, an alarm is sounded. What's more, a different alarm will be sounded depending on what kind of AoE you are standing in; it will distinguish between standing in a void zone and standing in a campfire, as well as being hit by avoidable AoE versus unavoidable raidwide damage. Makes me look all smart and competent when my bear druid is the only melee that runs out of AoE damage that would have otherwise killed him and caused a wipe.

Thanks, I'll go do that!Taluwen wrote:It's actually recommend that you do cause SilverDragon will pickup any rares and dont need cache clearing like NPCScan does.takaeza wrote: Didnt know you could use npcscan and silverdragon at the same time

Re: Addons you use!

Dominos - Bar addon easy to move and edit bars. Can change scale, size, columns, spacing, padding and opacity. Also allows me to change my EXP bar/REP bar.
D3 orbs - Health and Mana orbs shows % and number count not really needed but something nice to have.
IceHUD - Those bars in the middle of the screen, I only have them to see % of my hp, pets and bosses it has more uses then that but thats just me

Chatter - Simple chat addon can copy and paste saves chat logs allows linking and nice lil' box for it all.
Grid - I just don't like the ingame version much ... You can see debuffs and its nice for healing.
Shadowed Unit frames - Uint frame addon shows anything you want basicly and comes with a 3D icon, again better then the ingame one.
Guppet - Comes with collect me another addon to help you find where a certain mini pet / mount is apart from that I mainly use it for the random mini pet and mount buttons.
TipTac - Allows me to fully edit my tooltip boxes.
Minimap Button frame - Allows me to have my map back away from all those silly addon icons you can even add the ingame ones (such as mail, zoom buttons etc.)
Chinchilla MiniMap - Simple map addon comes with loads of fancy graphics but Im simple ;D
ButtomFacade - Just simple button graphics to give tints and such colour to my icons.
Satrina Buff Frames - Edit-able buff frame addon again only got it dont like ingame one you can do anything to this ... but atm I think blizz have changed how it works as I cant right click buffs : /
Quartz - Nice cast bar addon.
Ghost Pulse - Shows when my CDs are ready comes up with Icons and such very flashie :3
MSBT - Scrolling battle text addon so it doesnt go over my characters.
Bagnon - Bag addon also shows my gold on that realm on all characters.
And ofc your 'YOU NEED THESE TO PLAY' addons .... which no one actully needs -.-
Omen
Recount
Deadly boss mods
If you dont know those then .... yeah

Might of missed some but I did have a topic on here going over all my addons and since I use teh same ones ... Ill look for the link in a sec /slacks

LOL! I forgot about BadKitty and HearKitty for my druids.
Also Gryphonheart Items(GHI) is incredibly popular on Moon Guard.

Re: Addons you use!
I love Badkitty. Made feral-ing that much easier!
I also use Xperl occasionally when I get less lazy and put it up, but it always explodes with the big content patches, so it takes a while for me figure out I miss it and pick it up again.

Re: Addons you use!
AtlasLoot-Shows me where my gear is, what mats an item requires, etc. They are taking a HELLACIOUSLY long time updating it, saying "it r hurrd, u can helps if u wants!!11!1" so I may be looking elsewhere for a similar addon.
ArkInventory-Sorts the stuff in my bags proper, and the bags all open into one window.
Bartender-Makes the bars a lot cleaner looking.
ButtonFacade-Now my clean bars are pretty!
GupPet-Random mount summoner!
IceHUD-So I can see my mana being drained more clearly when I heal. I mean bash my face on my desk. ...Same thing.
NPCScan-Because I'm a good little hunter
Omen-Because I like pulling threat, apparently.
PetLeash-Random pet summoner! (I like it better than GupPet because you can set the delay on the summon)
RatingBuster-Yes, WoW tells you that BootA have -35 agility and +45 crit chance, but how much attack power is that? How much %crit would I gain/lose? Would A be better than B once I gem it? RB is MUCH more clear about if an item is an upgrade or not.
Recount-I must know my 1337 deeps.
SpamMeNot-No lvl 1 gold sellers asking me "u want buy golds?"
TitanPanel-Almost forgot this one! Tell me how much gold I have, and reminds me to vendor/repair by showing my bag space and repair cost. I'd never remember either without this addon.
X-Perl-I HATE seeing my entire raid group on my screen. X-Perl shows just my party when I'm in a raid or BG. Yay X-Perl!
