Forum Ranks - Brainstorming

I actually used the tag from a stock image found here. What I did do was greyscale it to make it a rare icon, and then removed the dragon/filled in where the dragon was to make a normal portrait circle.

If the decision is to stick with the <Title Here> images for the "special" ranks, may I suggest that the textual title itself is switched off?

Right now it looks a bit odd to have it say e.g.:

Previously the 'ranks' were actually each a separate group, so you could switch between them. (I set things up that way because I had no clue what I was doing.) Now all the ranks are essentially in one group, so you get the rank you get (or you can choose the Haiku Masters or Hunter Trainers group if you have access to those), but you can no longer choose to drop back to a previous rank. Does that make sense?

Another side effect of the change is that it's no longer easy to see what a rank means. Previously you could just go to the group section in the UCP and learn that a "Rift Stalker" meant someone who had a post count of over 450 (or whatever it was). Can I propose a sticky topic somewhere that has a cheat-sheet for forum ranks and their meanings, once the dust settles?

Ooh, here's another idea which might be of use to you Mania. Rather than relying on custom-made images for the <Some Title> tags, perhaps it's possible to say something like:

• <span style="color: blue; text-shadow: black 0.1em 0.1em 0.2em;">Some Title</span>

I.e. use the CSS text drop shadow support rather than have to hand-craft images? Of course, the neater way would be do have it as a style class rather than in each title string, but I don't know how impressive the theme support is.

I wonder if there's a way for post count rank (and the bar as well) to be independent of usergroup, with the bar able to be toggled on or off from the User Control Panel. Hopefully that's possible.

Ahh yes, overall Green would be most suitable, I actually tamed a Yellow Squee (looks more orange to me) to use as my DPS Squee build (Squee is kind of a hybrid right now) ... But I want to stand out!

I want to be able to see myself admist all the Droid v Jedi fighting so I'm going to make George Lucas give me a Purple Lightsaber so I will stand out even though its against all the SW LORE and they had to edit the Lore of Star Wars Canon around my ego!
