Vengeance of the Soultakers

A Pokemon roleplay

Story inspired by the Secret Texts trilogy and the subsequent prequel Vincalis the Agitator

Vengeance of the Soultakers is a continuation of the long-running series of pokemon themed roleplay threads hosted here on the Petopia forums. As with the others, this is a darker, more “adult” variation of the pokemon world. Death can and will happen. Complicated themes may crop up. This isn't to say we don't appreciate pokemon in it's more light-hearted form, but we find roleplay to be more compelling in this sort of a setting.

This particular story is set 4 years after the War of Shadows; where a ravenous horde known as the Dusk almost took over the world. The humans have mostly finished rebuilding and a sense of peace has begun to settle upon the land once more.
But a chance encounter has awoken an ancient order of magic users, known colloquially as the Soultakers, who seek to resurrect their glorious empire.

This thread will be used for general discussion of the roleplay, a place to store and update character bios, and as a recap of all the major plot points.

BACKSTORY

Only a few remember the Soultakers, fewer still think of it as anything but a fairy tale. They were a civilisation of humans who were able to use the souls of others as a source of energy. Using this forbidden art, they rose to power, conquering most of the known world. Those who stood in their way were used to fuel the magics that sustained their civilisation. Their populace lived in a virtual paradise, free from disease and misery, their very needs provided by the upper class, oblivious that their utopia was built upon the corpses of thousands.
By chance, one man learned the secret of the ruling class and their soul magic. Horrified by this, he formed a rebellion, gathering aid from the wild creatures of the land. Creatures who had, until then, been ignored as simple beasts. Creatures that would eventually be called Pokemon.
Despite the power his rebellion had gathered, he found himself on the loosing side of a war. As a last ditch gamble, the man pleaded to Giratina. He told the lord of the reverse realm about the Soultakers, how they were using the spirits of the dead to fuel their own greedy desires. Angered by this perversion of the natural ways, Giratina used this unnamed hero as a vessel, bestowing upon him all the powers of the pokemon god of the dead. Using this power, he was able to destroy the Soultakers and their distorted empire.
However, it was not without personal cost. The hero's body simply was not able to withstand the incredible power bestowed upon it. He lay dying as the final remnants of the Soultakers were eliminated. Once more he bargained with Giratina, seeking some way to return to the world of the living should the Soultakers ever return. The great dragon reluctantly agreed, promising to reincarnate the hero should the perverted magics once again return.
Humans continued their alliance with pokemon, which eventually formed into the symbiotic relationship seen in the present.

As for the Soultakers themselves, they too had a contingency. As their empire crumbled around them, they crafted two great objects of incredible power. Two mirrors; one of silver, the other of obsidian. These two mirrors, when reflecting off one another, allowed them to store their very souls in a pocket dimension of their own making. Then, when the time was right, they would reactivate the mirrors and use their power to steal the bodies of others for themselves, before setting off to rebuild their great kingdom.
Before the mirrors could reactivate, the obsidian mirror disappeared. Why and how is not known. And so, the trapped souls of the Soultakers lay dormant, waiting for their chance to return.

CHARACTERS

Currently, there is a suggested limit on main characters of five plus one Soultaker Character. You're free to go above that limit, HOWEVER keep in mind that doing so may slow down the game, force yourself to ignore your other characters to keep up with the flow of the story and/or create a less fun atmosphere for other players.
You're free to have a few side characters, but keep in mind they will not be influencing the plot in any major way.
If things get a little too confusing with your characters, other players reserve the right to tell you so. Please don't get bitchy with them if they bring up their grievances.

Soultaker Characters:
Ultimately, we're going to need some people willing to play antagonists for this to work. The Soultakers are unique in that, at the start of this story, they have very little actual power. Trapped as they are within the Silver Mirror, the only thing they can do is communicate psionically with their chosen prey, so to speak. So their first goal for the ancient soul magi is, first and formost, to find the Obsidian Mirror so they can free themselves. They are also on the lookout for hosts to use when they are finally freed from their prison. To achieve both means, they seek out beings they can manipulate. The Soultakers will do anything to convince a host to do their work. Some choose to impersonate the dead, asking loved ones to find this miraculous mirror which will allow them to come back to life. Others may promise power or knowledge. They will say the mirror can cure disease, grant wishes, whatever it takes.
When creating a Soultaker, keep in mind that when they lived, they were the upper class of their society, with knowledge of power beyond that wielded by normal mortal men. They see themselves as the rightful rulers of the living world, possibly even the land of the dead too. They are ruthless and sure of themselves, proud and powerful.

Non-Soultaker Characters:
As with the previous pokemon roleplays, the focus of characters is more on pokemon than humans, although human characters are certainly more than welcome. Legendary characters too are welcome, although as with RotS they're not the focus of the story. Old characters and new are welcome, although a brief bit of history for them is always nice, especially if some new people are interested in joining.

Bodystealing:
This is where things can get a little tricky and, hopefully, interesting. For the second part of the story, we need people willing to offer up their characters as hosts, willing or unwilling, for the Soultakers. Naturally, one can just take over one of their own characters with their personal Soultaker, however I'm hoping that a few of us are willing to “lease” out our characters for other people playing the antagonists.
When you are writing your character info, if you have a character you'd be willing to have somebody else take over once the Soultakers are let free, make a note of it. Place down ideas that could be used to entice said character to help with reclaiming the mirror. For a person playing a soultaker, keep in contact with the person who's character you're thinking of borrowing. Use this thread, or PM to one another. Make sure you don't do anything drastic with the character without asking for permission first. The last thing we need are unhappy players because someone else just killed their favourite character. If, for some reason, you do not like how somebody is treating your character, you are always free to wrest control back from them. This should always be a last resort. Gaining control back form a Soultaker is meant to be a very difficult task.

For example, say I'm happy to have someone take over Character “X” and go nuts with it. When writing up the bio for “X”, I add a paragraph underneath saying that “X” is afraid of his own mortality. Somebody else, with their own Soultaker, likes the idea of taking over that character once the mirror is reclaimed. So they let me know about it in this topic and we start collaborating, finding out how to get this to work. In game, their Soultaker contacts “X” and promises that the Obsidian Mirror has the power to grant immortality and other such promises, eventually swaying over “X”. When the Mirror is returned, the Soultaker takes over “X's” body and control of “X” is handed to that second player. Once the story is resolved and the Soultakers destroyed/banished, or if control is wrenched from the Soultaker somehow, control of “X” is returned back to me.

A Bodystolen character still exists within their body, although their personality is suppressed by the Soultaker in control, shoved to the side as it were. If they are forced to attack someone the love, then they may try to fight back against the Soultaker. Other than that, they are mosly unaware of what their body is doing, images floating past their consciousness as if they were trying to remember a forgotten dream.

SOUL MAGIC

As much as I would like to just let our imaginations go wild with this soul magic concept, I feel I need to set down some rules and definitions to make it fair. Introducing this sort of very powerful magic can easily lead to god-modding and some very upset protagonists. It's one thing to have the odds stacked against you, it's quite another to face an enemy that can kill you by ripping out your soul without even blinking.
Soul magic is exactly what it sounds like, a mystical art that draws power from the very essence of what makes a living creature alive. Learning how to control soul magic takes a lifetime and manipulating it without the aid of specialised tools, known as focuses, is both dangerous and exhausting. But when properly used, the craft has limitless potential.

In game terms, it's impossible for a Soultaker to just rip out someone's soul and use it to fuel their magics. Doing any real damage to something without the aid of a focus will more than likely cause the magi to be heavily injured from the effort. A Soultaker can draw power from a number of sources:
1)From his own Soul. This is the most reliable way of powering something, although it comes at great risk to the Soultaker. Spend too much of his own soul to fuel something and he may faint, or burn himself out of existence.
2)By using soul magic they have taken from others. This is the safest way of powering their spells, but it takes a lot of time to amass the energy to do so. Soul energy can be stored in the Soultaker's body or in a focus. However, storing excess energy in one's body for too long can cause side effects, including but not limited to; spontaneous injury, transformation and explosive release.
3)They can use the soul of another. This is the fastest way, but unless the person supplying the soul is willing, then it has a high chance of the Soultaker being hurt in return.
Each “spell” cast requires a certain amount of soul energy. Simple tasks and small changes don't require much power and can be cast without much worry. Larger actions will require a virtual font of soul energy to draw upon.
A Soultaker can absorb a little soul magic with each attack, storing it to use for future spell casting. When hit by a Soultaker, an attack feels more painful than normal, although the body suffers no extra damage. You can prevent damage to the soul though abilities such as Safeguard and Protect.
Damage to the soul, in the context of this game, manifests as lethargy and a loss of personality. As with the body, a person's soul will restore itself over time and with the aid of healing abilities, such as recover.

Soul Magic can be used in a number of different ways, restricted only by the imagination of the player and the power reserves the character has. The most commonly used powers are:
-Increasing the power of an attack. When a power is infused with Soul magic, it will burn with a bright blue flame.
-Healing and protection. Likewise, these powers manifest as blue fire.
-Transformation. By using a large amount of power, a Soultaker can transform their bodies. The transformations are always temporary, as soon as the energy for the magic runs out, the body returns to it's natural state. Major transformations not only require a lot of energy, but are also quite painful

Focuses are used to enhance or stabilise the power of soul magic. They can take many forms, although the most common are jewels and pattern.
A jewel is a specially treated gemstone used to store and focus soul energy. They are remarkably hard to produce, but allow a Soultaker to use their magics much more freely
Patterns are drawn sigils and runes, generally arranged in some sort of circle. Like jewels, they can be used to focus magic into a much more stable form. However, they take time to draw and can only be used once. After the spell has been cast, the Pattern vanishes in a burst of blue fire.

SOULTAKER SOCIETY

Back when the soultakers were in power, their empire was structured into a Magocracy, where the most powerful Soul magic users were given positions of power. Almost all those within the Mirror are of high ranking.
At the bottom of the “Nobility” were the Augurer, those who showed an eptitude of Soul magic, but perhaps weren't quite masters of their craft. They acted mostly as landholders and soldiers, but did not have a voice in governing the empire.
Next up were the Sorcerers. They were given lager holdings than the Magus, and who were quite proficient in the use of Soul magic.
Those in the topmost rung of the Nobility were called Magi. They had dominion over the Augurers and the Sorcerers and could cast Soul magic as easily as they could breathe.

Finally, at the top of the empire sat the God-King and his two servants; Sinistra and Dextra.

The God-King has unrivaled power over soul magic, so much so that most Soultakers consider him to be a deity more than a mere human. Rumours surround how he achieved this power, more so about how long he has been in this position. Any who have tried to dethrone him have been killed remorselessly. He inspires a zealous devotion in his empire, and it took the fury of Giratina himself to even damage him.

Sitting to the side of the God King are the twin titles of Sinistra and Dextra, his left and right hand respectively. They speak and act with the voice of the God-King and any orders and actions from them are to be interpereted as being directly from him. Although the titles have been passed down many times, the roles they fill have always been the same.
Sinistra is the hand in the shadows. They have freedom to do whatever needs to be done to ensue that the empire lives and that the God-King's will be done. Be that by lies, poison, sabotage or simply the right word in the right place, Sinistra makes sure that it happens.
Dextra is the hand on the sword. Sworn to an oath of fidelity, Dextra is there to dispense the God-Kings justice, to fight his battles, to kill his foes with a merciless blade.
Both Hands generally act separate from one another, although there have been rare few times when both have joined forces for the God-King's cause.

Protagonists

~Azunara~

Solara: Solara is a psyceon, mate of Soundwave the Yanmega and Mother of Lyra the Yaneevee. Her family was taken from her when she was young, and she only really knew her sister. When Shadwyn died, Solara focused on one thing. Revenge. She hunted down her killer, only to watch him redeemed. Despite making friends along the way, the espeon drifted away, leading to her capture. Dusked, the Espeon switched sides multiple times before what was a betrayal in her eyes caused her to return to the Dusk for good, where she met a new family, Buzzard the Charrosaurus and his brothers, Vulture and Carrion. In the end, the Dusk were cured and Solara still sees that as her fault. If she had protected Carrion and the crystal better...

Note: Solara will be given up for body stealing. She's protective of her family that's living, but furthermore wishes her dead family members were alive. She has a mistrust of the Dawn, but trusts members of the former Dusk. If you want to use Sol as a host, PM me so we can work it out and I'll give you more info or something useful.

Ivika: Ivy is a fairly average leafeon. Nothing to special of note. She is outgoing and tends to be loyal, but she has a slight independent streak. She's fended for herself the majority of her life, not remembering what happened to, or if she had a family. She's rather cheerful, likes cracking jokes and generally is rather decent to know.

~BrickWall~

Draxis (Male Golett): Draxis is brash, foolhardy and quite energetic. Never one to back down from a fight no matter how desperate the odds look. In fact he seems to enjoy the challenge of it even more. Yet for all his love of the pugilistic arts he will stand up for though who can not defend themselves and fight on therir behalf.
Background - Draxis was a grunt for The Dawn. He never managed to rise to the lofty hights that some of the others did. Yet he has never been bitter about that just glad he could help where he did. Even if this meant smacking down some Dusk infused Rattata's and Bidoofs. At this time he is wandering Sinnoh with no real goal in mind.

~LupisDarkmoon~

Buzzard: The Charrosaurus from RotS.
Personality: He's an idealist, but a cynical one. Buzzard's kind to most, and is fairly forgiving. He doesn't extend full trust until he sees real proof of trustworthiness, but he's got an iron loyalty to his friends.
Physical: Shaped like a Tyrannosaurs with wings, he's got grey/black scales with bright orange skin between them. A trail of fire runs from the tip of his tail to his head, where it forms a floating "crown" above his two horns, which sweep back to meet at the tips.
Notes: "Brother" of Solara and Soundwave, Lyra's uncle.
Totally open to being controlled. PM me and we can work something out!

-

Summer: The Glaceon from RotS.
Personality: She's typically calm and kind, very loyal to those she sees as family. However, her trust can easily be broken and she has a hard time forgetting bad events, holding grudges against those who she dislikes.
Physical: Just a Glaceon.
Notes: Mate of Sosa, mother of Lark.
Also open to being controlled, again, PM me!

-

Lark: An Eevsol from the Christmas RP.
Personality: Independent and a bit rash, Lark's got her own goals and she doesn't much like anyone interfering. She's not afraid to fight, and can cause them with her no-nonsense behavior. She doesn't like wasting her time being fakely sweet and says what she means. Despite her rather sour exterior, though, she's mostly just trying to prove herself to herself and has the capacity to be very caring - even if she insults you while trying to help.
Physical: Like an Eevee, but with the blue face of an Absol, and a head/tail scythe. (See Fanart thread.)
Notes: Daughter of Sosa and Summer.
Not as easy to control, knowing her mind. You can sure as heck try, though, and maybe succeed. PM me, of course.

~Kira~

Aeris: A shiny Dragonite, and a complete goof at times. She's finally gotten used to her final evolution, and is content in her skin. This doesn't stop her from being a klutz. She was in the war of shadows, helping out in the final part and evolving as she helped protect her soon after mate Pinsir. Mother of two she adores children, and will take great care to protect any child she happens across.

Soultaking: Most Definatly. Her biggest things are protecting her family, seeing her father again and finally meeting her mother.

-

Arkon: An Espenine that was born just after the war of shadows. He takes after his 'Uncle' Baaz and does his best to protect and care for those around him. That being said, there are times were he feels as though he fails completely. His appearance is that of an Arcanine, but his fur is purple and dark brown for his mane, while it splits into two for his tail. His slightly larger ears make him hear a bit better than most.

Soultaking: I'm a little iffy on Arkon...PM me and we'll see if I can do it or not.

~Magnakilro~

Chomp: a feraligatr that has fought in 2 wars. His house tends to be a common hangout for his many friends. He is the husband of Rikki the Zangoose and father of Rocket the Zangator, Zap the Raitune and Scythette the Sneasel. He also cares for Lily the Poocheyena as per her mother's last wish. Chomp is a very kind and gentle reptile. He tries to help with problems, he's always offering shelter to those that need it, and he's generally there for everyone. When in combat, he likes to hit hard and fast with powerful attacks such as Waterfall and Dragon Claw. Chomp has experienced death's embrace once, and he wishes to never put his family through something like that again.

It'll be interesting watching Chomp be evil....so I'll put him up for bodystealing. PM me if you want him!

-

Jaws: a garchomp with a cocky attitude. He's snarky, he's a wiseguy, and he loves to fight. He is known for almost never referring to others by name, usually naming them after a product that their hide can be used to make. Shares a sort of brother/sister relationship with Ghost Girl the umbreon, though he'd never admit it. The two can usually be seen bickering. He is the husband of Olivia the Blaziken and father of Dimitri the Giblic. He's also the adoptive father of Terra the Sandslash. Jaws may have an attitude problem, but he really is a good guy if you get to know him. In combat he's a fierce fighter, using a repertoire of dangerous and powerful attacks like Draco Meteor and Earthquake.

Definately up for bodysteal XD

-

Ironskull: a Rampardos that can't speak. He gets his messages across with pictures and words scratched onto the floor or walls. Ironskull is a very defensive creature. He will willingly take a fatal hit if it means his friends will be unharmed, something that cost him his life temporarily during the Dusk war. Iron is close friends with Soundwave the Yanmega, and is the husband of Ghost Girl. He is also the father of Rust the Rampardeon. In combat, Iron is slow but if he hits you, you WILL feel it.

Iron....I'd rather he didn't get controlled XD

-

Spear: a rather large Beedrill. He played a minor role in the Dusk war, though he was a messenger between the Sunrise and Dawn teams when they wanted to merge. Spear recently lost his entire swarm, including Dart, his second in Command....and Trident, his son. He's willing to do anything to bring back his family. Spear is a ok guy, but he can be a bit arrogant and stuck up due to his former leadership role.

Mostly meant to be one of the guys that helps with the mirror thing XD

-

Genosect: a mechanized bug. He does not feel any emotion whatsoever and is confused when others show emotions like love or excitement. Genosect can scan his surroundings for danger, and so far its never failed him. He is not afraid to blast opponents with a powerful Techno Buster.

Wanted to do more with him XD

~Moonlost~

Baaz
Arcanine
Backstory: A police Pokemon at one stage of his life, Baaz's squad and trainer was killed by Dusk during the War of Shadows. He was infected and absorbed into an elite suad of Dusk known as The Hounds, created for the purpose of bringing down tough opponents such as Legendaries. He broke away from The Hounds when he was asked to kill innocents, joining up with the Dawn not long after. Plagued by guilt over breaking his word, the Arcanine set off on a sojourn to find himself, discovering his true nature in the mountains near Snowpoint City. With his new found strength, he returned to the Dawn to become a makeshift leader, and to find love with the Houndoom known as Lilith. He currently resides with his mate in their home, not too far from Chomp's farm.
Personality: Baaz has an old fashioned sort of Chivalry, inspired by the tales of Knights from the past. He's kind natued, but he won't back down from a fight if he has to.
Soultaking?: The big Arcanine has three major "ticks" which could allow a Soultaker to take over him. Firstly, he is enamoured by knights, paladins and royalty of yore. A spirit telling him to go out on a quest to seek a holy artifact would easily set him off. Secondly, he feels for his dead trainer and brothers-in-arms of the police force, although he doesn't mention it often. Finally, he is concerned about the fact that he has sired no children with Lilith yet.
Unfortunately, Baaz has already been reserved for soultaking. :3

-

Venin
Vaporeon
Backstory: Once a carefree soul, Venin was subjected to experiments late during the Dusk Project. She became bitter and savage, almost on the verge of sociopathy. As part of the Dusk, she joined with The Hounds, but became resentful of their leader, Seventeen, for keepign her on a short leash. Venin left the Hounds, as soon as she could, running into her future mate Phantom not long after. The two returned to the Dusk, only to cause havoc. They then fled to the Dawn, where the aided in the final battle before wandering off on their own.
Personality: Venin has a sharp tounge and a sharp wit, although it has been dulled a little in recent years. She enjoys mocking her enemies and teasing her friends, and it a little bit of a prankster. She loves her own sense of freedom and will fight tooth and nail to keep herself and her family free.
Soultaking?: Ehhh, honestly Venin is content enough, I can't really see the Soultakers using anything against her. But if you can think of something to entice her over, please feel free to go ahead and PM me, let me know what you think.

-

Asher
Eevee (Delta-type Fire)
Backstory: The child of Venin and Phantom, hatched not long after Christmas. He has yet to evolve, despite a few attempts to do so.
Personality: Asher is a carefree soul, happy and remarkably gentile considering his parents. He enjoyes exploring and is insanely curious to everything about him, with little caution to danger.
Soultaking?: I really dislike the idea of this little guy being Soultaken, although I can easily see how one would do it. He wants to evolve, but all his efforts have been for naught so far, one could easily entice him with that. PM me if you're interested, we can work something out.

-

Psychosis
Remku (Evolved Hypno)
Backstory: Psychosis was once the pokemon of the Scientist known as Insins, and a devoted pokemon he was. However, Insins killed himself with his own ambitions, leaving Psychosis alone in the world. The Remku destroyed the work of his master to stop the same mistake from happening again, before setting off to find meaning for himself once again. Four years of wandering and he has found nothing.
Peronality: Psychosis is a lonely and misererable pokemon, even moreso after wandering the lands and finding nothing to fill the hole left after his master died. He is a devoted compantion to any who deserve it and will do anythign it takes to achieve hsi goals.
Soultaking?: YES. Please do. Psychosis more than anything would want his master to be brought back to life, and his search for that actually activates the mirror again. PM me if this guy takes your fancy. :3

~Rubybeam~

Cherrie: Cherrie seems to be a outgoing, overall hyper and bubbily choroneko that isn't really afraid of much. When in the face of death she seems to shrug it off, she loves to fight, only good clean ones though and tends to think of them as another way of socalizling with people. little is known about her past execpt a mysterious black cloth raked with realistic purple scars that run down it, light appers to be coming out of the streaks. The only other thing known about her past so far was that she was mysterious found unconcious by the sunrise army in the dark wars, becoming a sunrise scout she more used to using her senses to find things, after the war was over she went to live with her dawn friends

-

Sephira: A mysterious flying type eevee evolution.she appered once during chrismas but was mysteriously gone ever since, some think of her as a subject of the humans in order of trying to find a way to evolve more eevees, but to pokemon and humans this is only a rumor as she is now used to hiding and running and only appers if she wishes. due to being a cryptid in a rumor she hides the fact that she was naturally evolved after she had a huge wish to become stronger to protect her family after they were all caught by trainers, she then came into contact with a dawn stone becoming how she is now
NOTE: Sephira will also give up body stealing, she has a High interrest in finding other evolutions that aren't suppost to exsit

-

Yuki: what appers to be a male shiny kanmimpi, he's very timid considering the fact that everything he see's is either trying to catch him or kill him even though he was just a kid, due to this he also has many scars making look as if he was in many battles although its only from escaping from so many he got so many scars. He wishes for the day to find someone who actually cares and doesb't want to kill him

-

Deppy 'cola': Deppy is a sabre-tooth like species of pokemon that dr.zyhne created known as a 'bikaoth', an ice/ground type. Due to just recently ressurecting from a fossil Deppys thoughts are rather...primative but she does seem to know how to speak well and knows helpful tips on what to do to survive in the harshest times as well as being a good fighter she might make a decent comrade

~Saturo~

Darkrai
Ghost Darkrai obsessed with kidnapping. Fought against Deoxys and with/against the dusk for a bit. Believes that kidnapping is the solution to pretty much anything. Commands the Unown.

-

Unown Leader
Unown fiercely loyal to Darkrai. A good liar with a hobby of interrupting tender moments, he's been following Darkrai's orders for as long as he can remember, and usually likes them.

~Senna-Umbreon~

Ghost Girl (AKA Ghost): A female Delta Species-Ghost type Umbreon. Fought in both the war against Deoxys and the war against the Dusk. She's prickly and, at times, can be a jerk, but to people she's close to, she's really quite sweet and will protect them with her life. Due to being a Delta Species, she can fade out of sight completely. She is immensely protective of her family, even people who wouldn't consider themselves to be so, but if she sees them as family, like hell she's letting anything happen to them. Despite her normally fairly cheerful attitude, she can get depressed very easily, usually due to events that happened during the Dusk war that caused her to lose her friendship with her best friend, Solara the Espeon (Well, Psyceon now). She is mate to Ironskull the Rampardos and mother of Rust the Rampardeon, both of which she loves dearly.
As for Soulstealing..? HECK YES. I completely and utterly support the idea of Ghost getting Soultaken. Her biggest wish would be to be friends with Solara again, so that could easily allow her to be controlled.

-

Rust: A male Rampardeon (Umbreon-Rampardos hybrid). Rust is mellow, calm and cheerful for the most part, but will show his playful and kiddish side when he wants to (Usually when playing games with family or friends). Despite being fairly young still, he is surprisingly powerful, though he doesn't show it unless he's protecting people he cares for. He has a habit of saying 'meep' or just plain out squeaking. When he was younger, he loved pouncing on (And even biting) others' tails, and while he doesn't do so much now, he will sometimes do it for fun. He is the son of Ghost and Ironskull, and like his mother, he is able to fade (Though he's still trying to get the hang of it).
As for Soulstealing? Hm. It'd be interesting.. But honestly, I doubt it'd happen. If anyone wants to control this little guy, well, just PM me and we can try to find some way it can work =P

Phantom: A male Smoldereon (Dusk evolution of Flareon). Phantom is rash, hotheaded and a bit of a jerk. And can even be quite the idiot at times. He is the older brother of Ghost, and was quite the antagonist in her life, making it his goal to hunt her down, and well.. Kill her. He had a good reason for it, he can assure you that much! But in the end, after meeting, and eventually falling in love with, the Dusk Vaporeon, Venin, he decided there were much better things to do in life than to spend your whole life trying to get petty revenge on your sister. He is the mate of Venin, and father of Asher.
Soulstealing? Hm.. Not sure, but hey, it'd be interesting, that's for sure! If someone wants to control this floof-faced doofus of a Smoldereon, then feel free to PM me! XD

-

Millie: A female Zorua. Millie is bouncy, childish and naive. She loves to use her abilities to disguise herself, and is usually found under the illusion of a young human girl. ... With a Zorua tail. Which, of course, usually gives her away. But it doesn't really bother her. She's an orphan, but to be honest.. She doesn't even know it. Her parents were captured and killed before she even hatched, so she has no idea she really even had parents. She just assumes that she's special and didn't need anyone to raise her.
Soulstealing? Not really sure. Well, I'm mostly not sure if there'd be anything to entice her to end up Soultaken... But maybe something will pop up later. As said with the others, feel free to PM if ya want to control her :D

Soultakers

~Azunara~

Kerym Bane: A Soul Sorcerer, Kerym had been rather quick in learning Soul Magic, moving quickly through the ranks. A determined fighter, she will stop at nothing to destroy her prey or corrupt them to her own purposes. She's quick to act and easily angered, but she's extremely loyal as well.

~BrickWall~

Dextra Soren
Taciturn and cold. Dextra has only one desire in this or any other world. The fulfillment of the God-King's wishes. He stikes down all those at stand in both the God-Kings and therefore his path without a hint of mercy. Those who have seen him fight and lived (Because they where not the objects of his wrath) would think wrongly that he is a defensive fighter right up to the first opening that allowed him to pour the God-King's Rightous Fury into the now fatal blow. He has been waiting millennia to once again enforce the God-King's will upon the world.

~LupisDarkmoon~

Sinistra (She has a name. >.>)
Personality: Sly, cunning, and ruthless. She doesn't mess around, and doesn't tolerate idiots. Her loyalty to the God-King is absolute. She takes over her foes with an eye for mental weaknesses, paying on any fear or weakness until it drives her foe to letting her use its soul.

~Moonlost~

Vethor Brightblaze
Soultaker
Backstory: Once a Sorcerer in the Soultaker Empire, Vethor wasn't one to take his duties seriously. Although a skilled practicioner, he wasn't perhaps as devoted to the Soultaker cause as others were. He still performed his duty when needed, but was more than willing to kick back and enjoy the finer things his position afforded him while he was still alive.
Personality: Aloof, suave and with a good taste for the finer things in life, Vethor comes off as not being a worthy Soultaker to many. He especially rubs his fellow wizards the wrong way with his dismissive attitude of the God-King. But he is a stalward warrior for the empire and will do what needs to be done, just so long as he finds a little enjoyment for himself along the way.

The God-King
I sense him even now, although he slumbers deep
The waking dream my peers call it, I know not what it means
But he is there, trapped as we are, he hears our thoughts
He rumbles in our minds like a volcano
When he rises, I fear for all who stand in his way

~Saturo~

Nametobedecided
A fairly powerful soulsorcerer, she quickly followed into the mirrors. After all the years that have passed, though, she's grown incredibly bored. Sadistic, and a great liar, she will stop at noting to regain her body.

Side Characters

~Moonlost~

Seventeen and Gamin, the last two members of The Hounds. They are up for Soultaking if needed, but if not they'll be remaining out of the story.

~Rubybeam~

Boku: a orphaned charmander that was taken in my chomp and the others when found carolling for food on chrismas. He states that his mom died of a mysterious illness although from what he described she had the same death and symptoms as ripetide. he was born with two pwerful moves :flamethrower and counter, may seem good but it weakened his stamana thanks to that and he will faint randomly and needs more sleep than usual, he laso gets sick more easily

~The Story So Far~

Psychosis, after wandering alone for years, discovered an ancient artifact which contained the essences of an ancient race of humans known as the Soultakers. The soultakers, now able to reach beyond their prison mentally, start to track down potentual hosts in order to get them to find the second half of the Mirror of Souls, which'll allow them to escape their self made prison.
Leysaari, a soul mage, contacts Darkrai. Sensing in him a kindred soul, she convinces the bored legendary to help search for the mirror.
Sinistra contacted Buzzard and Solara, both ex-Dusk, and convinced them to reform the old Dusk army to search for the Mirror. Buzzard amassed the dusk into an army to begin their search.
Phantom and Venin catch a fragment of Buzzard's call to arms and decide to warn who they can of the Dusk reforming.
Meanwhile, Dextra contacted Baaz and showed the Arcanine half-truths, convincing him to start searching for the ancient foci of the Soultakers. Baaz believes that he is doing this to keep these artifacts away from the Soultakers, unaware he is being used.

---

Wistala: Wistala, or Tala, is a shiny Staraptor. She was raised to be a fighter, but she loved her trainer and her family. As the youngest among them, she was determined to prove herself and led her team to numerous victories. When her trainer and most of her team was killed by Deoxys, she and two others of her team, a wingull and a skarmory, escaped. They were on the Dawn side of RotS, but the wingull and skarmory were captured, and Dusked. A nameless fighter amongst the Dawn, Tala flickered off to find what remained of her team, only to find them dead. She returned to the Dawn troops, opting to stay with them instead. She's still young and immature, but she'll fight to keep her friends alive after seeing her team die. She can get irritated easily, and doesn't like being poked, touched, or prodded in anyway, but beyond that is a rather light-hearted bird.

Yay!

And lastly, my Sinistra. (Got permission from Moon to play a Sinistra, I'm not stealing it I swear! Much <3 to Moon!)

That banner is awesome by the way. And, I love this idea.

Ironskull: a Rampardos that can't speak. He gets his messages across with pictures and words scratched onto the floor or walls. Ironskull is a very defensive creature. He will willingly take a fatal hit if it means his friends will be unharmed, something that cost him his life temporarily during the Dusk war. Iron is close friends with Soundwave the Yanmega, and is the husband of Ghost Girl. He is also the father of Rust the Rampardeon. In combat, Iron is slow but if he hits you, you WILL feel it.

Iron....I'd rather he didn't get controlled XD

Spear: a rather large Beedrill. He played a minor role in the Dusk war, though he was a messenger between the Sunrise and Dawn teams when they wanted to merge. Spear recently lost his entire swarm, including Dart, his second in Command....and Trident, his son. He's willing to do anything to bring back his family. Spear is a ok guy, but he can be a bit arrogant and stuck up due to his former leadership role.

Mostly meant to be one of the guys that helps with the mirror thing XD

Genosect: a mechanized bug. He does not feel any emotion whatsoever and is confused when others show emotions like love or excitement. Genosect can scan his surroundings for danger, and so far its never failed him. He is not afraid to blast opponents with a powerful Techno Buster.

Wanted to do more with him XD

Thank you, it took me ages to make that banner. :D If I ever had the inclination to get a tattoo, I would so use that. Minus the text.

It should be mentioned that the role of Dextra is reserved for another player. We sorted this out while the plot was still in development. Sorry :<

Now, let me see....

Baaz

Venin

PM me if you're interested, we can work somehing out.

Others
Seventeen and Gamin are up for Soultaking if needed, but if not they'll be remaining out of the story.

The God-King
I sense him even now, although he slumbers deep
The waking dream my peers call it, I know not what it means
But he is there, trapped as we are, he hears our thoughts
He rumbles in our minds like a volcano
When he rises, I fear for all who stand in his way

Okay lets see if I create characters that could go to use, i'm making an interresting vareity here:

SIDES:
Boku: a orphaned charmander that was taken in my chomp and the others when found carolling for food on chrismas. He states that his mom died of a mysterious illness although from what he described she had the same death and symptoms as ripetide. he was born with two pwerful moves :flamethrower and counter, may seem good but it weakened his stamana thanks to that and he will faint randomly and needs more sleep than usual, he laso gets sick more easily

Aaaand I'm pulled back in. BUT! I make a promise Now...NO DELORA! She's retired now. She's got Seven kids to look after (I enclude adopted) so she needs a really long nap.

That's it for now...once I come up with a Soultaker idea I'll see about posting one. I like being a bad guy...it's fuuun.

I'm getting a very strange sense of deja vu here ...

I didn't get a lot of time to play with him so

At this time he is wondering Sinnoh with no real goal in mind.

I would make some other char's to be soul taken but I haven't been playing long enough for it to really have any meaning.
I may make other characters later but for now I think this one and my Soultaker will be enough to occupy me for a while.

Soultakers

Dextra (Yes he has a name too and it's ... ow stop hitting me Moonlost ok I wont tell then)
Taciturn and cold.

Yaay!

Darkrai
Ghost Darkrai obsessed with kidnapping. Fought against Deoxys and with/against the dusk for a bit. Believes that kidnapping is the solution to pretty much anything. Commands the Unown.

Unown Leader
Unown fiercely loyal to Darkrai. A good liar with a hobby of interrupting tender moments, he's been following Darkrai's orders for as long as he can remember, and usually likes them.

Nametobedecided
A fairly powerful soulsorcerer, she quickly followed into the mirrors. After all the years that have passed, though, she's grown incredibly bored. Sadistic, and a great liar, she will stop at noting to regain her body.

I also exist on DeviantArt.

I hate to say this.. But I'm sorely tempted to just stay out of this RP completely. Maybe I'm just feeling stupid because, unlike others.. I can't just put aside my long-time character. Ghost's been kind of overused in these RPs.. But I'm way too attached to her to leave her out of a new story. I want new characters.. But I'm afraid I'll end up ignoring them in favour of Ghost..

*Sighs* Maybe I'm just overreacting.. But... I just don't feel right going into this new story with only three characters that I've already used a lot. I mean, I can create new ones.. But like I said, I don't want to end up ignoring them cause I'm too busy with characters I'm familiar with.

Senna? No one is asking you to put aside your characters. Really. I CHOOSE not to really bring Sol back because I want to try new things. I'd imagine the same with Kira. But others are bringing old time favorites back. Darkrai, Chomp, Iron...

And frankly, for your delimna, I think give it a shot and if you end up ignoring characters, oh well. It happens. Maybe you could can let Ghost be Snatched, that way she's still around, but you don't have to worry about ignoring your new chars?

*Blinks, then facepalms* And this is why it's a bad idea to post something when you're both half-asleep and sick.... Bugh.

So yeah, feel free to ignore my little spazz out there. >.<;;;

And yeah, after thinking through it for a bit, I ended up going 'WAIT DUH. Ghost'll get Snatched! Then I won't end up ignoring all my other characters!!' Soooo... That kinda fixes that problem. Now.. Hmm.. Perhaps it's time to work on a new character or something... XD

So, yes, I'm gonna be in this story after all.

Smart, Senna. Real smart. ;)

I'm thinking though, if no one takes Sol I'll just keep her out of it. I've found I heavily focus on one character (Azu and Kozri being the only real exception. I think I'm pulling off multi-tasking them well enough.) so yeah.

Self limits go!
