Is anything tameable in cataclsm that isnt meant to be?

Hey guys this is my first post so sorry if this information is elsewhere. I'm wondering if there's anything tameable that isn't meant to be such as the hydra and green goo crockolisks from wotlk. I tamed those guys back in the day but due to the small stables I released them . So if there's anything like that in cataclsm I'd like to get my hands on it before blizzard takes it away.

Nope, none that we know of. The closest is the buffed pets, like the flaming boars. That discussion is available under Pet Discussions.

Unfortunately, the buffed pets are no longer tamable, as far as I know.

I tamed the flaming boar the other day, a friend made a tauren and I met up with him and after a few tries, it worked and I got the boar in my stables, when i take him out he has a burning blaze that shoots up the double his height, rightfully named him "FlaminBacon" so the flaming boar still works for sure.

Only the pets with temporary buffs or something like that aren't. The flaming boar, ghost bird, etc are tamable still. The temp ones probably are as well, and if they are, (general statement) please don't tame one with a damaging debuff/aura/whatever. ^_^

Supposedly Blizzard "fixed" taming pets with buffs, and since Blizzard was very vague on what was actually fixed (and the fact that it is still possible to tame pets with APPEARANCE ONLY buffs) we can only speculate that they "fixed" the ability to tame pets that retain their damaging buffs.

This, however, is not a free ticket to go around and tame whatever you can just because you can... Blizzard isn't having a witch hunt over this, but if you tame something that gives you an advantage over someone else (...even if someone else THINKS it gives you an advantage over them) then Blizzard will take it away from you and you might get slapped with a suspension/ban.

Exactly. We were basically given the "blind eye" as per Wain's post from Noah. I sincerely hope it doesn't get ruined for those who like these "special" pets.

How does one do this flaming boar thing? Can I do it on a pet I got or must I retame one?

The flaming boar is obtainable through a tauren starter quest. As to the exact method of taming it, I'm sure you can find a thread about it within the Pet Discussion forums.

Thanks for the information. The buffed pets are all still tameable. After I read this I went and got swordface lonehunter, oil covered wolves and the ghostpaw ghostwolf. The buffed pets with damage buffs are still tameable but those effects do not persist through death and are largely useless anyways. I also got the consumed bear but it was wasting a much needed stable slot (reserved for olm after patch) and I didn't much like him so I set him free.

Be aware that the ghostpaw will lose his appearance after death as well, appearing to be a plain white wolf.

By the way, everyone be careful with that abandon pet macro. I accidentally hit it and killed my oil wolf and It would be really easy to accidentally delete your rare spiritbeasts or whatever.

FYI: In death all maintain their appearance buffs so there's no worries there. ALL appearance buff's are wiped when going into arenas and only the ghostpaw runner completely loses the ghost wolf buff on death. As already stated.

i actually have a question about the ghost wolf losing the buff on death: what if you have it on you and *you* die but the pet either a) does not die, only despawns or b) you have a different pet out when you die.

i am asking this because i would like to try my hand at taming one on my twink hunter, and it would be fun to have out until my q pops, at which time i would need to quickly switch. standing by the stable master doesn't seem practical hehe.
