And Samarachan, you've convinced me NOT to get rid of mine, which I've been on the fence about for weeks!
Great review, lovely screenies!

Could I get another? I'm sick with a cold and am not able to do much real WoW things like 5-mans because I can't focus! >___<;;

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]
Hello guys,
I am very sorry about being gone for such a long time, my life caught up with me, and I couldn't really be bothered posting here because I was really busy, it slipped my mind.
I'm still on a wow/internet pause so I won't be picking up this thread, but it's truely awesome of you to have picked this up, since it is really time consuming.
Once again, sorry, and I hope you guys will understand

Slic!!! I was beginning to think you were never coming back
(hence new thread, and the old one was quite long.)
No worries, life does that!

Why yes, yes you are.
Cialbi: YAYs! But next time if you're too busy to do it don't worry, I don't want you to not have fun because you've dreaded doing it.
Serendipity: You don't have to go tame the Nether Ray at all if you don't want to, that was my mistake.
Tyger: I'm so happy that I was able to help you find a colour of hyena that you liked so much. And I'm not at all trying to rush you to 85, I just noticed it and was curious.
enylia: I am definitely in agreement on the hyenas needing a makeover! I have one on each of my 85 hunters but they NEVER get used.
Pawtrack: Psht! Hard to get?? I'll show you hard to get! (<3 Kidding!)
Xelophant: HEHEHE I named my Terrorpene, Raphael. I should take the fire turtle swimming...that will look odd.
Ziarre: Yay! Thanks for coming back to do it and give a report. I love those dragonhawks, I'm glad you're keeping yours!
Carnifex: I'm happy you had fun, thanks for trying it.
Juxia: I love those wings, but I can see how that might be annoying.
Samarachan: That was an awesome review, thank you!
On another note; rolls:

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]
I still haven't gotten around to do my challenge this time. It was the blue moth, and I am having a really hard time getting there, so when I figure out a way to get to the draenei starter place, I will do my part of the challenge.
There are no boats from Lor'danel, and as far as I know I need to run through Stormwind to the docks there and take the boat to Rut'theran village and take the boat further from there.
Corpserunning through stormwind doesnt seem to work now anymore, does it? Last I tried I was ported back to the wrong graveyard.
But just you wait, I will not give up!

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]
You can also do what I mentioned to another player in this thread above; make friends with a DK or someone with a rocket mount (or yourself if you have flying) and fly from Lor'Danel to Rut'Theran village and then take the boat to the Draenei area.Miyon wrote:I still haven't gotten around to do my challenge this time. If you fly yourself, you'll have plenty of time left on your fatigue bar before you get there. Did it myself the other day getting the elder achievements.

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]
I made it to Azuremyst! Elixir of Water Walking ftw. I had the brown moth, which was only found in Terokkar (too high) or in the draenei starter zone (I'm a tauren). So, I made it across the ocean (on my 2nd try), corpse hopped through the lvl 90 guards, and got my moth!
I named him Tarkin, and if you get the joke I will give you a hug. Maybe it is only funny to me.
Anyway, there is not much to be said about moths. Tarkin is relatively quiet, his wings glitter, and he's small enough so that his wings aren't distracting. Big red moth is suitably amusing, but when fighting 3 mobs I pulled aggro on 2 of them as soon as I hit mend pet. Serenity Dust has a long and odd cooldown of 42 seconds, and you can't leave it on autocast because you'll waste it as it's a spell interrupt. I think it must be an AOE but I'm not sure. Probably be useful in PVP.
Moths have no swimming animation, but just flap along with you like they normally do. Overall, I will probably keep Tarkin in my stables just to laugh at the name now and then and because it was the most difficult tame I've done, but he won't become a regular for me. There's just nothing terribly interesting about moths.
But wait there's more! My challenge turned out to be a two-fer when I decided that as long as I had made the trip out to Azuremyst, I was going to get one of the ravagers that's only found out there. So, naked and flagged for PVP, I set out in search of a Bloodmyst Hatchling.
These guys are PRETTY, yellow with pink and purple accents. I've never had a ravager before but I figured what the heck. She did okay with holding aggro but I did pull off of her a couple of times. The biggest thing I noticed is that ravagers are noisy as all get out. Constant hissing and whatnot, and very loudly.
I swear though that she does flips in combat sometimes. The tamed version is much smaller than the ravagers in Outlands.
They also have a creepy swimming animation, almost like an octopus the way they move their legs. Bad pic but you might get the idea.
I'll keep the ravager just for the crazy color scheme, but I don't think I want to fight with it all the time, especially in instances cause it would drive the tank nuts with all the hissing.
These were the most challenging tames I've done, but it was fun! I'll go again: Tydarus, lvl 62, no exotics, no monkeys

This might be weird to say, but I'm proud of you for finding a way to get out there.
Congrats on finding two pets out of it. ^_^

I used an elixir of water walking to go from Darkshore to Rut'theran, and jumped right on the boat without attracting any guards. You still get fatigue but you can go fast enough so that it doesn't kill you.Miyon wrote:I still haven't gotten around to do my challenge this time. Thanks Kormai. ^_^ I was happy to get the little bugger too, even if I can't find much love for their debuff.Kormai wrote: Tyger: I'm so happy that I was able to help you find a colour of hyena that you liked so much. And I'm not at all trying to rush you to 85, I just noticed it and was curious.
And yeah, like I said, the pet challenges (and mining) are about all the play my poor hunter gets, although she is very close to 85 now. =P

I remember taming a moth on my Tauren hunter right after BC came out. I got a blue one I named Flutterby. He was my favorite until cataclysm came out and I got Terropene. Congrats on getting yours. I remember how hard it was then...and now it is like...100 times harder for horde to get there.

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]
Finally reporting on my Yellow Sporebat!
Incidentally, I've tamed this pet before. The yellow sporebat has always been my favorite of the three - Blue is far too bright, and green is a bit bland. Both green and blue have really, REALLY pink lights on their tails, and I really dislike it. The yellow one, though, is adorable.
Skin: I love the yellow. It looks like its back is covered with mud, bright lights peeking out. Because of this I named him Murkspark. His eyes are a fetching yellow, and his stomach a pretty orange. I really like the green wings, which stand out against the orange and dark brown.
One of the things I like most about this skin, which really makes it win out over the others in my opinion, is the dulled peach lights on its tail. They aren't the hot pink of the others, a pretty, paled peach that looks beautiful with his yellow and brown body .
Model: I've always liked Sporebats. They look so alien and graceful. They're a tiny bit low quality on the tail, but I can tolerate it. Overall I just really like the model.
Animations: I wish his Run animation was as nice as his Walk animation. :-/ When he's going slow, he hovers peacefully over the ground, totally calm and graceful. When he runs, though, all grace is lost as he throws himself through the air. Wow! That's not the beautiful, etherial beast I had earlier!
He also lacks any swim animations, which is a little disappointing.
In battle, his attack animations are pretty nice, and I really like how he flaps his wings with his special.
Sounds: Very few. >.>
Battle: He's a nice little pet all around, I found. He tanks well enough and he does damage well enough. The problem is, he's cunning - I've never really liked the cunning tree, it feels so useless even when I know it's not. I guess that's because I have plenty of pure Tank and DPS pets, so I don't really need a hybrid.
As for his special ability, I can see there being times in some instances - DM and VP in particular - where it'd be very useful. Out of dungeon, though, it's kind of useless. >.<
I don't think I'll be keeping Murk, if only because he's so easy to pick up again.
Another, please? :->
Rassaa, Alliance
Level 85 BM/Surv
Exotics? Sure!
Restrictions? None - I'll even tame Northrend rares. O.o (Although I have most of them.)
To Kormai, don't worry! We all love you for putting up with us. ^.^

Juxia, what I like to do when I want my pet to cast an ability is to put it on autocast, and have the pet UI automatically use it ASAP. Then, just take it back off autocast sometime before it finishes its CD. I'd recommend the following:
_
Well, I need to focus on leveling an alt (when RL doesn't require my focus elsewhere
). Fortunately, said alt is a hunter. Unfortunately, he's a level 12 >.<
So...
Shorelfon
Level 12

Anything goes
When I say anything, I mean ANYTHING. Shorelfon is a crazy psychotic that has run across Dustwallow, then southern and northern Barrens, to get a scorpid from Durotar. Oh, and he visited Howling Fjord to tame a crow.
Code: Select all

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]

Apologies for the late response, have been a little too lazy lately! Anyho', was given the black devilsaur for 'zee challenge. It's a pet I've had before, many, many months ago, but alas... He was eventually replaced with Krush! If I had the slots, I'd tame every devilsaur skin in the game if I could!

Blur-fail screenshots incoming! Don't have my tablet with me- only a touchpad!

Popped on a flightpath to Un'goro..

Stacatto was forced to drag his poor owner away from the quest hub! If she heard "A DRAGON!!" one more time...

It took a good twenty minutes to actually -find- a devilsaur!

Always forget how big they are until they're attempting to gobble your character. The tame finished without issue and a new devilsaur was tamed, huzzah! Quickly hearthed to Orgrimmar to poke at the poor beastie.

And, personally, I find him utterly gorgeous! Particularly fond of the blue eyes and the black colouring really enhances the detail put into the scales. While his yellow belly provides a good contrast, would love a version of this devilsaur with either a grey-blue, white or grey middle!
One little thing irked me, however... He didn't quite match my character! Hurriedly raided my bags for gear, and...

... No. Didn't match!

... Definately doesn't match that!

... I give in!
Regardless, he's still a beaut. Forgot to nab screenshots while questing, but no complaints about his damage output! The +5% crit is pretty fantastic.
While I've not managed to do a BG with him, I've ran Krush around 'em on my main hunter plenty of times! The healing debuff appears to be useful during the times you just don't have the focus for widow venom! The main problem I've found with BM PvP is the death of your pet. Thankfully, Heart of the Phoenix helps in those situations! While he's certainly useable in PvP, it's likely best to use one of the established slow/stun pets. Still good!
Just can't decide whether to keep the black, or...

... Go for the white! Will keep them both until I'm desperately in need of room.

-------------------------------
And... Again?

Name: Piano
Level: Anything up to 71!
Exotics: Sure!
Restrictions: Preferably no foxes/corehounds/chimeras, if possible!
Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]
This will sound stupid, but for when I go to test the pet chosen for me to try out and a take screenshots..how do I make the shots show up in my post? (I forgot how to do it sorry!)
