To tame, or not to tame.... who do I let go?
Greetings, Petopians!
I wanted to ask you all a question, since I have annoyed my husband enough with my verbal debates about which pet to pick up or let go haha! He really couldn't care less so I decided to post here since many of you will answer and can relate!
Alright... my limited stable space (if you consider 25 limited.. haha!) is getting to me. It has been a bit of a problem for awhile, but now I am getting to a point of anticipation for new pets.
To start:
I love wolves. I honestly have not found a wolf in the game that I truly disliked- though I'm not a huge fan of the WotLK Worgs. I did try for an oil-stained wolf awhile back, but not having an ally hunter to do this with (my main is a blood elf), and now that it is basically against the TOS to exploit the glitch, I don't want to try to get one.
I want to retame Ironjaw for the unique skin, and I am for SURE going to be taming Deathmaw once he comes back to live.
Second:
I have way too many tenacity pets. The tenacity pets I have are:
Old Grizzlegut (which I just tamed on impulse the other day and have running around with the Dun Murogh companion pet)
Enormous Sand Crab (for the unique skin)
Jadefang
Terrorpene
Madexx (Black) <-- First Madexx tame
Madexx (Green)
I used to have Uhk'loc but I let him go in favor of the second Madexx. Still wanting to find the blue one- but that's another story entirely.
I also decided to drop my Sapphire Scarab because I decided if I was going to get another tenacity pet (Old Grizzlegut) I was going to drop one- and I was not a huge fan of that beetle with my toon- it didn't click as well as I initially thought it would.
Third:
I also have all the spirit beasts... kind of a "gotta catch em all" thing, which I'm sure many of you can relate to.
Fourth:
I am very attached to all my pets... but I want to make room for three at this point:
Ironjaw (currently live)
Deathmaw (PTR coming back to live soon)
Olm (PTR coming back to live soon)
I have decided that I would really like these three because of how much I love wolves, and how much I have always loved Olm- have him on my Draenei hunter and never got around to taming him on my Bloodelf. Oh, how am I regretting that decision at this point haha.
So, who do I get rid of? On my list of pets I would probably be willing to part with are:
1 Madexx (But which color?! Really like both.... but partial to the black - not sure which if either is "more rare")
Takk the Leaper (though I love running around with the Leaping Hatchling and I don't have another pet that can reduce armor
Old Grizzlegut (again, love running around with the Dun Murogh bear cub with this one)
and *MAYBE* the Enormous Sand Crab... but I'm quite fond of the skin.
I AM up for other suggestions also - you can find my armory link in my signature, or just click here.
I also already thought if getting rid of another wolf but... I can't part with any of them (especially Old Cliff Jumper- he has been my favorite since I first saw him on the Petopia website as I was leveling my first hunter). I'm a wolf person... I really love them all- especially Snarler, who recently grew on me unexpectedly!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated- thank you for listening to my crazy ramblings of taming!!!

I'd say get rid of green maddexx, old grizzlegut and the crab.

Green Madexx and bear to start.
Then go tame Deathmaw and see if you like him better then Ironjaw?
Or if you really have to have both wolves, drop your Takk, and then later if you change your mind come back and retame. I always say drop the easiest to find, and of the ones you listed I don't think many people are running around killing Takk, so he would likley be easier then say Terror or Jade to retame.

Awesome thank you- as much as I love the bear, I have Arcturis and that is good enough for me.
I agree with Green Madexx - the black one just seems to suit me better.

Okay- OFFICIALLY have deleted Takk, Old Grizzlegut, and Green Madexx. I hugged and loved Madexx before I let him go. I just had to lol. Thanks for your input Tal and Merl!

Re: To tame, or not to tame.... who do I let go?
It's such a pain, letting the pets go...
I had to get rid of most of my cats not long ago, it was awful.
I'm a bit late with input but... Maybe it'll help someone in the future
I always consider, which pets are the hardest to obtain again and keep them, getting rid of the ones I have no issues with finding again. So, I let go of my beloved King Bangalash. Oh, I loved him so much. But I had so many cats, I had to make room, and he's easy to obtain. Same thing went for Ironjaw, Duskfang, Mazzranache and the Clutchmother, Araga, Humar and so on.
While I adore the skins, I had to make room and these I deemed easiest to get back. Maybe, perhaps, not by camping the rare, but common mobs sharing their skins or maybe they're quest mobs or have fast spawntime.
That's what I do, anyway. I found it quite effective, so far, and it leaves me with no real regrets to speak of.

I'd say the same, except make it the black madexx. Green is oh so pretty, and I actually like the black one the least.Taluwen wrote:I'd say get rid of green maddexx, old grizzlegut and the crab.

I actually let my second madexx go in favour of Uhk'loc. I am not that fond of the blue madexx, and I have wanted the white gorilla for a really long time, but haven't been arsed to camp.Cathyliz7 wrote: I used to have Uhk'loc but I let him go in favor of the second Madexx.
But yeah, I understand your problem of not having enough spaces for all the pets you want.. I just want them all. :p
My first hunter is the rare-hunter, apart from a few exceptions. My second is the crazy cat lady, altough I try to keep her from it. Third hunter will have green pets, and some macho..

Re: To tame, or not to tame.... who do I let go?
Haha yes- I saw a thread (searches) here about various themed stables and I am going to be doing that with mine too. I have three hunters - one I haven't played in months (who has Olm) and then another that has Humar and Echeyakee, Takk the Leaper, etc etc at lvl 23. Those two don't really have pet themes, and my main's are all unique/rare skins with the exception of Snarler who I just fell in love with when I saw him.Miyon wrote: But yeah, I understand your problem of not having enough spaces for all the pets you want.. I did go and tame Ironjaw last night, but she will probably be one of the first to go if I decide to get something else. I've also been eying the new dragonhawks coming out of ZA next patch. I have the one from Sunwell, and blue is my favorite color, but that combination of yellow and pink is stunning. I try to do the same thing when I'm looking for which pets to let go- I had Humar and Eche since forever but let them go because of all the extra cats I had too. I do miss those little lions- but so far Sambas is tiding me over.Loethlin wrote: I always consider, which pets are the hardest to obtain again and keep them, getting rid of the ones I have no issues with finding again. If there are any Blues lurking about out here, please consider this another request for the ability to obtain (either freely or with purchase) more stable slots! We hunters have a want to give every pet a good home!

Haha ty!
My husband and I are huge Star Trek fans-- we're actually a part of STARFLEET: The International Star Trek Fan Association.

Re: To tame, or not to tame.... who do I let go?
If you've sorted out what to do, that's great <3 If not, I suggest you might want to do what I did?
I was sick of having 25 slots filled, so plain and simply I got rid of the pets I would never use, could never see myself using or didn't care much for. I abandoned Ghostcrawler, Jadefang, a worm, a wolf, some owls/birds of prey and a few others that I had for raid buffs but didn't actually enjoy using. I'm contemplating "giving" Aotona to my Goblin hunter when she's high enough. Of course you don't have to be as extreme as I was. XD But now I'm 100% content and love my stable which is not bursting to the seams, but has a collection of pets that I actually really love and use often. The only "whoops" moment I really have/had was that I abandoned a Coyote wolf which I figured I didn't use much and had OCJ for the wolf buff anyway - I think I might be re taming him. :X
But yes, just an option! I got completely suckered into the "catch em all" rares mentality (which is awesome if that's your thing) but when I ran out of stable spots and couldn't tame pets I actually wanted to use I know enough was enough XD
Anyway good luck

Yeah I've been thinking about that too- "What pets literally just sit in my stable..." and to be honest, a few of the spirit beasts lately have been hanging out in their comfy stable beds because of BM's dps being so horrid right now (comparatively to Surv anyway). There are a few I could probably get rid of, however, I think once BM gets buffed again I think it'll be much better.

I dunno.....so far on my lvl 80 hunter, I've beaten all SV hunters....so either I'm just really good or they really suck. 4.0.6 which is this tueday I think will be nerfing SV and buffing MM and BM.

Go ahead and retire ol' Snarler. He's had a hard life, first being a battle worg for blood-crazed orcs, and then loyally serving his rescuer, all the while wearing that hefty armor that does not seem comfortable in the least. So, cut off the armor, and set him free.
AKA Nazthandol, in <Petopians> (US)
Cute doesn't need an explanation.

Re: To tame, or not to tame.... who do I let go?
Oh no no- Snarler wasn't the battleworg- Snarler is a Feralas rare.
I did choose to retire him, although it took me awhile to be okay with it lol. I'm still missing him a bit but overall I think it was the best decision for now.
I ended up getting rid of Harakiss in favor of Lord Kri, and I tamed Huhuran which is when I let Snarler go.
