Hunter alts are fun!!!

Unread post by Rhyela »

As the title says, playing hunter alts is pretty fun. :) I've more or less got my stable set on Rhyela, so it's kind of exciting going out on a new hunter and trying out pets you have either never tried or just maybe didn't click with before.

Sadly, things still aren't working out so well for Kirottu and I. I don't know why, but I'm just not feeling it with him. I've been trying to use him, I like the story I made for him, but I almost feel forced to like him because of that story. I don't think it's happening. Feeling down, I actually quested for quite a while without any pet at all. My brother got busy doing something so I had a bit of free time to go look around, so I decided to see if Shadowclaw was up, and he wasn't. Or, at least, I couldn't find him. I ran all over that little piece of land looking for him. Anyhow, I couldn't find him, so my brother and I picked back up on our questing. We came to the part where you have to "peacefully" acquire a few different animal-derived ingredients to make an incense. It's for that quest where you get to pick an animal spirit to help you (in Darkshore, of course). So we're plucking Moonstalker whiskers when all of a sudden, my brother runs right into Shadowclaw! Wow, that kitty's pretty big in the wild, much bigger than I expected. He started attacking him, so I had to shoot him a couple times to pull aggro, and he was mine!!! I named him Shando, which I found on wowwiki as one of a few random words that generate when you type a six-letter word. His "common" given name (as in, not mob name) is Shadow, so in Darnassian it's Shando. :) I really like him quite a bit, actually. I love his coloration and I just like him all-around. Much better than Kirottu. :( Makes me feel guilty after all the helpful input and screenshots I received in my other thread about Bayne. I'm sorry, guys!!!

My brother logged for the night, and I figured I'd go grab a moth since I've never tried one before. I hoofed my way to Bloodmyst Isle and finally found a Royal Blue Flutterer, and tamed it. As soon as it floated by my side...wow. This moth is absolutely stunning. I love her! I mean, reeeeally love her. She's just so pleasant to look at, it almost puts me in a trance or something. I'm only level 18 so she doesn't have her special yet, and I know it's not really gonna be all that helpful when questing, but I don't really feel like that's a big deal when I'm always questing with someone else and we probably won't be doing many dungeons. :) I named her Haaveilu which (according to Google's translator!!! *hides from Mozag*) means "reverie".

These two are definitely my favorites in my stables thus far. Unfortunately I think I can only keep one of them active until I get my third call pet skill, just in case I find something else I simply must tame. But I'll most likely give them equal attention until then, swapping them out each time I return to town to turn in quests. :D Hooray for baby hunters!

Thanks for reading!

Acquiring new pets is the only real motivation I have for leveling my hunters. Nowadays, I alternate back and forth between all of them ~ 5 or so levels at a time ~ to keep myself from getting burned out. I also like to switch up this routine with other classes as well.

I have yet to even level past 80 with any of my toons and am in no hurry to reach end-game content. With this expansion, I have decided to take things nice and slow.

Aww, don't feel bad about Kirottu. Sometimes pets just don't work out, we all know that!

I LOVE your screenies, both pets look absolutely perfect next to you. Shadowclaw is definitely one of those special kitties, who, when you find him for the right hunter, will probably never leave their stables.

Haaveilu means...argh, man I hate translating Finnish, I'm completely rubbish at it. But it is pretty much what Google Translator says: "reverie" or "daydream". Haave is the actual word for a daydream or wish, haaveilla is the act of doing so, and haaveilu is argh...can't describe it. So, for all intents and purposes it works, otherwise I'll never manage to finish this post. :D

I was just teasing you in my first post, btw. I hope you didn't take offense from me *hiding* from you. I just know I'm going to get some (okay, most) of these translations wrong and feel like a boob for doing so. :D But, all is well.

So, as long as I'm close, that's good enough for me!!! I do like how the name has a Draenic (is that the right word?) sound to it, seeing as how the moth is in the Draenei starting area. :)

Shando doesn't "match" me like my other pets do as far as color, but he really seems to match me in a different way. I can't explain it. I just feel that he really suits me and will be one of those life-long companions. Perhaps Haaveilu, too. I haven't used her yet but I'm sure I'll love her. :D

My Nesingwary hunter, Adonys, has already got his ideal pet in Mazzranache. Man, they just seem so perfect together! The way I have Adonys' story right now, he's vain, self-centered, and doesn't take anything seriously. So he finds pets who are just as bright and lavish as he is, really only caring about what the pet looks like, and Mazz fits the bill perfectly. My dragonhawk starting pet is close, but I'm going to RP her as dying at some point to old age (or actually, maybe dying from a fatal wound in battle...hmm), which devastates him and in turn he ends up growing up a little and learning life isn't the party he thought it was. Anyhoo, Adonys has already got his life-long friend, but I'm sure I'll be picking up more along the way. Ironically enough, Shadowclaw was on my list of pets to get for Adonys, but now I think he wouldn't really suit him at all. So, I may have to find something else.

Hunter alts are just amazingly addicting. :D You can't have just one Hunter. Whereas other classes will sometimes become stale for me, I find I can just keep rolling new Hunter alts over and over and never get sick of them. The prospect of choosing a whole new stable for a new character is so tantalizing and fun...it's a level of customization that simply isn't with any other class in the game.

I'm surprised I've gone this long without having another hunter alt. I've had just Rhyela for the longest time. Sure, I had a hunter alt here and there that I got a few levels with and never touched again, but these two are different. I suppose, like with pets, I have to "click" with my character, too!

I would love to make a hunter alt if 1) I had room on my server to be in my own guild (it gets lonely playing alone.) 2) Didn't have an obsession with keeping the pets I like on one toon. I'd constantly be missing my other pets. T_T Wtb moar stable slotz.

Being a Hunter is like Pokemon.
I gotta tame em all!

Aloicious has been my saving grace in this period of illness. He really has. I've been the same way: having an absolute *ball* with selecting his stable, and just relaxing and playing. Through leveling and grinding, he's level 40 right now, and I'm about to start a very real 'cutting' of pets from his stable. Shadowclaw, ironically, is going to be one of the ones going. I tamed him on a whim (he killed me twice), and really haven't been able to form any sort of attachment with him. The same with my seagull (who I worked so hard to get). And yet, I *have* bonded quite tightly with Sonja, my red lynx, and Darjeel and Sinjin, the mated pair of white spotty kitties: Darjeel is Duskstalker, and Sinjin is a young snow leopard. That quite surprised me! As Kurasu, I have no attachment of any type to cats, and yet Aloicious is definitely inseparable with those three, and potentially a fourth (I haven't run much with Humar to 'feel' for him yet).

Looking at things through a new character's eyes is somehow absolutely refreshing. Particularly one who has to really *work* for his tames, rather than just fly in on a 315% speed mount in his 432 gearscore and tame out from underneath anything. Plus, by experimenting with tames on Aloicious, I'm opening my eyes to other tames that I could get attached to on the main.
Come see Kurasu's stables!

My Gypsi has a moth, boar, condor and raptor, all of which are families that I've never kept on my bigger hunter.

And I'm up to 41 on here and thinking about a third hunter at some point, lol.
