So two days after hitting 85, I get my first spirit beast!

Yesterday I was home sick from work, so I decided to do what all hunter do when they are sick. Camp a pet. So I flipped a coin, and settled on ghostcrawler. He seemed easiest since I was going to be only half with it. So I spent many hours swimming underwater, bonding with my sea horse. After a while, Novi came to hang out with me. We watched as a mage camped him as well (lol?). We wanted to see if the mage was going to try and solo GC, but no luck, he never showed.

This morning I am up early and decide, what the hell, I'll make a swim over. I'm swimming around, NPC Scan goes off. WOO!! I start looking around.. no crab. WTF! So I swim, spamming my target macro for five minutes. No crab. I think to myself "Perhaps a false alarm?" I mean, I know he phases, but I saw nothing for 5 minutes! That seemed long. So I log out, clear my cache, log back in, and start swimming again. Another 5 minutes pass. Had to be a fals---MURRRRGGGGLLLLGGGGRRRR WHOAH CRAB. Pop off my horse, and look around. He's hard to see! Press my tame/potion macro and BAM, he runs over and starts nerfing me (TO THE GROUND).

I managed to tame him with 12k hp left >>;;

I'm glad the Mage didn't get the chance, I've seen what happens when one tries to solo him, and it isn't pretty. But, at least I got to laugh at my silly husband.

Hunter's mark on GC to stop him phasing... not tried but my little gobbie wants him when I get to lv85. I'll test it then

When I first saw him it shocked me that he goes "poof" while walking his course so when he popped up again I marked him but he still went "poof" a few moments later. When re-appeared again he was still marked though.

no, hunters mark or even raid marks wont keep him from vanishing. last week there was a post about what he drops and if he can be killed. i tried and almost died, but he vanished, sparing my life. since he's not killable, i marked him again while finding a 85 hunter to come and tame him. lost track of him for about 5mins.

congrats! What could of happened the first time is that he ocassionally disappears then reappears 20-30 yards away from where he was.

Grats on your GC tame! When I tamed my own GC, I only had 478 HP left, so yours went off far more smoothly it seems!

Yeah, I can also reaffirm that he does still phase with Hunter's Mark on him, but he will still be marked when he phases back in.. making it a little easier to find him via the minimap.

Ahaha. Classes were canceled until noon, so I slept in. A bit sad I missed this! Congratulations. And yeah, no idea why that mage was camping there - though I admit I'd giggle seeing Ghosty nerf him a bit. >> << His habit of going poof drives me loopy.

So you're the one Novi was out helping when I was chatting with her in tells.

I was out in Twilight Highlands leveling various pets, farming skins, and keeping an eye out for Sambas for Hrufgar (a dwarf I ran into thats been looking for him for weeeeeeeks with no luck).

I mean, I had read about the phasing stuff, but I didn't really think it would phase him for that long. I went around the blue circle that NPC Scan threw down for me (100 yard circle!) like a chicken with my head cut off going "WHAR R U CRAB!"

When I could think coherently, I decided that no one was down there with me, so I logged out, cleared the cache and logged back in. I honestly thought some horde might have been swimming over me with him out.. I usually have track beasts, but not track humanoids up.

Got mine yesterday too. I had literally just resetmy npcscan after another hunter came by within range with his pet.

Relogging after dumping the right file, npcscan went off again, so I assumed the other hunter was nearby, but a /who didn't show him. Then I saw the target on my map of where GC was spotted. Hey, that one is free crawling. Then followed a slapstick few mintues of panic as I tried to tame, no luck, remembered to dismiss my current pet, tried to tame, no luck, swore lightly, changed to BM spec, tried to tame, vanishing GC, tried again, accidentally cancelled the tame, light swearing and minimap check for any other players, still good, tried to tame, he vanished, tried to tame, got him!

Never had a HP issue, though I got nervous when I got under 45%.

It was also really nice that he is already 85. We celebrated by soloing Garr, UD Stratholme, and Kara's Horseman, looking for very low % drops (no luck).

It occurred to me nearly a day late - GC was not my first spirit beast, just my first level 85 tame. I have everyone but Karoma, who is next on TEH LISTS.

I want them all!

I got the three I want at this time (Warg, Bear, Crab) I might at some point go for the wolf (Karona), but with an almost full stable (24/25), I would have go go prune first. I don't really like the spirit beast cat models too much, and I have two tamed cats that match my real-life cats, so that is good for me!

(To explain the 24/25 = fill: I keep 4/5 on my character at all times for OMG tames, and strategic tames, like when soloing BWL: taming chromaggus is *way* easier then killing him *halo*)
