The beast (core hound) from brs

Unread post by Fangz »

The beast is a corehound from blackrock spire. I know he lost his tilte ?? boss. However he is still the best core hound because of his voice. He has a different attack voice then other corehounds. Try tameing him hes very cool. Ill link a pic of him.

I still have him from when he was the ?? Boss. I'll check his sounds tonight and compare them to Uvuros and Chromaggus and see. I've not noticed it before though.

He definitely has different sounds than reg. Core Hounds... I think all the boss ones (I may be wrong, but there is for sure one in MC too) have this different audio. This was discussed a while back, but the thread is long dead and buried...

I haven't heard the Beast up close. Maybe someone with a lot of time on their hands could make a vid listing the attack sounds of every single Core Hound?

I'll tell you something though, Chromaggus is EFFING LOUD. I mean, LOUD. I was fighting in WSG on a ramp, and in the tunnel beneath I would have sworn someone loosed a boss down there. I got mine out to test on the Org dummies, and someone came up to me a few minutes in, and said "You can hear that pet from halfway across Org lol!"

I think it also doesn't "tone down" if you go farther away--the cutoff isn't THAT far, but I'm fairly sure that the Boss pets are MAX VOLUME until the listener hits that cutoff point.

I don't know about the Beast, but I do know that the one from MC (Magmadar) has a very quiet roar AND HE DOESN'T STOMP.

I get a freakin' headache when I have to deal with pets that sound like you're towing the entire percussion section of your local Philharmonic orchestra around with you, and Mags is refreshingly polite with his presence.

I agree that Chromy is ridiculously loud... all core hounds (save Mags and maybe Beast) tend to have a problem with racket; the Ancient ones not only stomp and have the lack of down-ramping roar mentioned about Chromy, but they also make a low incessant 'fire' rumbling noise that you don't realize is driving you crazy until you pull out something else. The green ones may or may not stomp depending on where you are, and don't roar quite as loud. Mags just sizzles faintly (which I don't really mind).

I remember there used to be a gold farmer bot on my server that spent all its time farming fire/water eternals at that one place near Bor'gorok Outpost in Borean Tundra. I always knew it was there because it used a core hound and I could hear the 'SNARR RAAGH GNAARGH' all the way from freakin' Fizzcrank Airstrip. It made it easy to report... and eventually they got it or it moved on, but jeebus. Muzzle that thing, yo.

someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket

Necro-bump. To to summarize for me:

Mags in MC has a quieter. Other core hounds are loud. Now I have a question:

Is it a different sound all together, or is it just a quieter version of the existing core hound?

Magmadar is a different sound altogether. Instead of a raging inferno, he's more of a cool smoldering. He has his ninja movement silent stomping, and he seems to feel that roaring is beneath him. For all of those wonderful reasons I consider him to be the king of core hounds, and a proud member of my stable.

Serkrun (Orc) Dentarg
Untamabull (Tauren) Area 52

Anyone know if the white (grey) dog-corehound is also silly loud? (I have one, but my sounds for WoW have been glitching recently.)

Yeah, he is. Mags is the only quiet one, afaik.

Although if they eventually make Beauty in BRC tamable, she'll be quiet too since she doesn't stomp and her roars are also unique.
