Re: Which of your pets is the most special to you?
For Bitka, it is the most unlikely companionship and that is Uhkloc the gorilla. I don't like the gorillas. I hate the butt scratching, chest thumping, and the noises they make. I don't like their look in general. My hunter Bitka though got Uhkloc as a joke. It started out with one of her guildie's trying to tame King Mosh, The King of Ungato Crater. She was having a difficult time getting him tamed, and was running over to the gorilla area to see if they were willing to temporarily help her with the tame. She tells our group that that the gorillas are starting to grumble because she kept coming back. I think it took 3 or 4 attempts before she tamed the king. Afterwards she said she would not tame a gorilla out of respect for them helping her.
Bitka decided because of this event she witnessed that she would go and get a gorilla for the friday guild party as a reminder (joke) to the tame. So she goes over and tames one of the grey gorillas. While there, another character ask her for help in getting through the cave for the quest. When we got to the back of the cave, there she saw, the white gorilla pacing back and forth.. She asked to tame the white, dropped the grey gorilla and Uhk'loc became hers. So now, she had a special gorilla to take to the event.
She went on ahead and kept Uhkloc out, going through Northrend, working on quests to level. I no longer remember what village I was in, but it had the vulkul in it. Bitka somehow ended up in a spot where the spawns of the mobs were very fast. She was surrounded with a mob of 4 on her at one time. Around and around they went... Her kiting to try and keep away, vulkrul chasing after her and Uhkloc storming after them, pummeling, growling, and stomping to get them off. As one would go down, it seemed 2 more would spawn. This went on for what seemed like a very long time, FD, Ukloc getting aggro for a bit, kiting, trapping, kiting some more on and on. Finally though it was too much and her health failed and she died. When she got back and rezzed, She called back Uhkloc and looked at him closely. All of a sudden she sees him leap and he jumped on a vulkul that had come close and had thrown something at her. Uhkloc looked so pissed that Bitka died he was going to beat that one to smitherings for it. He was quickly dispelled, and then she looks around at the aftermath, she counted 8 bodies laying around from this battle.
I do not know why this particular instance sticks with me, but it was the instance that had her click with Uhkloc. Just seeing Uhkloc struggle to get them off me and how long we went before I succummed just sticks in my mind and sealed my bond. He is the one Bitka wants when soloing against an elite, or tanking a group of mobs. He stays in her active stable bar ready to go into action when called. She has other tanking pets that she also uses, but when she wants to go up against something big, or is in a situation that seems risky, it's Uhkloc she wants to do it with.

Re: Which of your pets is the most special to you?
My troll Booggah was my first hunter and I think the third toon I ever created. I started playing a hunter because of the pets- as a HUGE animal nerd, hunters and druids (because of the shapeshifting) were the only classes that really appealed to me. Boo's first animal friend was an orange raptor from Durotar, then I made my way to the Barrens and got to the Echeyakee quest. Instead of killing him, I tamed him, and he remained at Boo's side until his mid-60's.
I don't remember when it was (too long ago), but one day I was puttering around in Orgrimmar and I noticed another hunter with a huge purple-striped cat. I immediately fell head over heels in love- Boo HAD to have one. Shortly after that, I discovered they also came in blue...
Blue is my favorite color, so I quickly forgot the purple cat and focused on the blue. I even came up with a name for her- Samurai. Thanks to discovering Petopia, I found out that the blue kitty only existed in 2 mobs- a rare spawn that I would have to camp for, and a level 60 elite spawned from a quest. Since I was still fairly noobish, I decided I didn't want to camp the rare and would level up to 60 for the quest mob.
Once Boo was within a few bars of hitting 60 I took him up to Winterspring and went through the quest chain to get to Shy-Rotam. He was still a bit short of 60 so me and my sister (on her shammy) ground out the last bit of xp on the frostsabers. Boo dinged and I picked up the meat to summon her, so sis dropped her totems, Boo dropped a trap, and we summoned her.
That's when I discovered the pre-level 60 freezing trap doesn't work very well. Shy broke out fairly quickly and started nomming Boo's face, then feared me and sis both. I frantically tried to restart the tame, but wound up dead. My sister's shammy followed shortly.
After the corpse run we tried again, but the exact same thing happened, except that sis managed to run away and reset Shy. She ressed me, then we began again. Third time's the charm, right?
And it worked. I don't remember all the details, partly from memory fail and partly because I'm sure we were scrambling around flailing, trying to get this tame done. But then there was the flash, and Samurai was standing at Boo's side.
We celebrated by running around like idiots for a bit, then re-summoned her so we could do the actual quest. Samurai helped tank her clone, which was actually going pretty well until Sian-Rotam joined in the fight. We managed to kill them, but Boo died again.
Samurai has been his go-to pet ever since. She raided with him in vanilla, then went through the Dark Portal with him. She was his main pet all through BC and Wrath both- even in Wrath when everyone was saying that "cats aren't the best anymore, go get a ____" (fill in the blank with whichever pet was most popular then). She is the one pet that he will never, NEVER release- even his Loque that I camped 2 years for wouldn't replace her.

Re: Which of your pets is the most special to you?
My most special pets are not my oldest pets. My oldest pets are all gone now, for the most part. My real life changed and so did my WoW life, I guess.
For Teigan, it's Rune. Oddly enough. I never bonded with a crab before. But I love this guy. He's her buddy and bodyguard. Maybe it's because when I found him, I didn't know that a color-stable glow crab even existed, cause the site hadn't been updated. Finding him cheered me up on a really horrible day.
For Grushdeva, it's her Shale Spider Hoodoo. Hoodoo is her girl. Not sure why exactly.

Re: Which of your pets is the most special to you?
For different characters it's different animals and regardless it still boils down to Skoll on my ally huntress. Snort has always been my hands down go to hyena, by my side at all costs from the very beginning but one day I got a hankering to camp Skoll thinking to myself that I wouldn't keep him, get attached to him or anything and he'd probably collect dust in the stables. I camped at the disk spot for hours and hours on end even to the point of exhaustion at times. I don't know what made me stay but I couldn't just leave. I brought out my little P Dawg to help maybe lure Skoll from where ever he was hiding.

And so P Dawg and I waited and waited and waited. Nothing. Another day goes by and nothing. Was beginning to fear poor little P Dawg may freeze to death. He stayed by the fire most of the time or curled up in one of my bags or I just held him. Several times there was a large drake sitting on the cliff above us just staring. I'd began to wonder if P Dawg or I (or both) were being eyeballed to see if we were to become an appetizer and dinner but then the drake would fly off and catch a rino or five and carry them off.
I decided to run some randoms so little P Dawg decided he wanted to stay in my pack and not come out. That's to much of a risk for such a little guy and all those big mean mobs. I get out and my NPC scan goes blaring and there he is standing right in front of me. Days n days of waiting and he shows up right when I get out of a dungeon. Strangely enough my campfire was still burning.

I smash tame beast and wait the countdown with baited breath praying no one else was looking for him. DING he's mine.
Sounds like a normal tame but what happened after was what I couldn't have fathomed in all the world. He shoved poor Snort right off his pedestal. The song going "you made me love you but I didn't wanna do it, I didn't wanna do it" comes to mind when I think of this guy. He's .................... as Veph said mine. My heart would break if I lost him and massive tears would be HAD till he returned.
Hugs my lightning boy.

Re: Which of your pets is the most special to you?
My most beloved pet of all time is Karoma. It stems from back when i first began WoW (WoW was only a couple months old back then too) and i saw the spirit wolf that guides you up near Thunder Bluff in the tauren quests and i was like GAAHHH SO BEAUTIFUL and i always said that one day, i will walk with a wolf exactly like that one day.
The Grimtotem Spirit Guides came out and they were marked tameable but there was the insane problem of getting the haste needed to tame and well, i got eeeeeverything together to perform the tame and i was a few days too late :/ I was really saddened that i missed the chance and leveled a dozen non-hunters instead and i got over it, the years between then and cata went by and then its announced that a new spectral wolf Karoma is being released!!!!
I was already an experienced Beast Master and i was lvl 80 with Arcturis, Gondria, and Skoll as beloved companions so when Cata was released i grinded hard and fast to 85, picking up Terrorpene and Jadefang and Loque (i never really gave up on him, spent about 3 weeks total across a few months looking for him while i waited for dps ques).
Checked her spawn points every 10min for about 8-9 hours for 3 days (i didnt sit on the computer during the time i wasnt camping btw.. i entertained my cat or drew)
and then the scanner goes off at the southern spawn point thats closest to the shoreline and i jumped off my mount, started to tame, she broke the tame in her frenzy (i swear i didnt have my hands on the keyboard o.o) and started the tame again and she was miiiiine <3
i fed her a piece of meat and then a hunter lands infront of me, another one flies overhead so low that his gryphons claws went through my head >_< and they both sobbed on my shoulder and then /congrats'd me
2 days later btw i tamed Ghostcrawler and 18 minutes later i tamed Sambas who was COMPLETELY ignored by a pally that was running by so i was really thankful that he didnt slay the cat, specially since i was still high in the air at the time :X Sambas also broke my tame in his frenzy and i had to recast (mabe its the new pouncing action they perform?)
*points down* Karoma down below in my siggy :3

Re: Which of your pets is the most special to you?
My BF interoduced me to WoW (at the start of TBC), and we decided to raise up some new characters together (on Aman'thul), so He rolled a Dreanie warrior, because he wanted to look badass and be all macho-powerful, and I wanted to roll a dreanie druid, sadly that class doesnt exist so i ended up playing a female NE druid. I like the concept of turning into an animal. Sadly my BF wanted me to be a healer and keep him alive while he killed stuff, so i compromised by going Balance so I could heal and dps to appease us both. I noticed a class running around with a pet at thier side, and fell in love with the ghostly blue wolf, which was the most awsome looking pet in the game. But had to play my druid to keep lv with my BF.
Well, he slowly stopped playing as much and I needed something else to occupy me so my druid didnt surpase my BF's warriors level, so I rolled a hunter on a different server (arathor) for fun. I named her Makoes.
So Makoes became my focus toon when the BF wasnt playing and I tried to level her so that I could go tame that pretty blue ghost wolf. Sadly I had created her the same month that the wolf was removed from tamability. Didnt find that out till later.
So at lv 10 when i could tame my own pet, I went off in search of thee perfect pet. Spiders, owls and cats didnt interest me at all, all the NE's where running with them...everywhere, darkshore brought the bearboom, and hunters had those and some plucked ostritch thing that looked ugly to me. I saw a hunter with a pink raptor which didnt appeal to me though the raptor model looked neat. So off I set to scout the barrens at lv 12, and thats when I got my first glimps at a hyena. There was something about this pet that just called to me, so I ended up taming a temp kitty to fast lv to 15 or something to tame one, and when I finally got one I thought there would be no better pet then this one...until I encounterd the red ones at SM at lv 30.
I had made friends with a rather gruff and 100% redneck Dwarf hunter named Nukifutz, and his wolf Nukitz, a NE hunter Kuray, and thier buddy Trig a NE warrior. I dont really remember how we met, I think it had something to do with a random misadventure that I had a pension for getting into, either way we became all very close in game. So we had decided to make the long trek up to SM from Ironforge, all 4 of us, another misadventure for out ragtag band.
Well, seeing those beautiful red hyena's just stole my heart! and my companions helped me grind up to lv 32 to tame one. Kuray and trig werent on at the time I dinged 32, but Nuk was so he agreed to come help me tame one of these awsome pets. We ended up getting flag'd at UC when Nuk thought it would be great fun to run in there when I was on auto-follow getting food...and we spent almost 1/2hr running in circles trying to escape the angry horde mobs that followed us doggidly!
But after only a few deaths, we made it there and I was able to tame the Hyena in the far courtyard corner while Nuk and Nukitz happily slaughterd everything else.
I'd had enough time to plan out the name for him and went with Nanaki (Red XIII's real name from FF7) and Nanaki and I became inseperable. We quested, soloed, ran misadventures, and even raided together.
by the time we started raiding though, the gang had kind of fallen apart due to some real life issues between the other 3, and eventually they all moved off to different servers. Nukinfutz occasionally makes a lowbie toon on my server to chat, and last time was still impressed that I still had Nanaki.
Raiding though was a bit difficult at first with a hyena, there where those that had run many dungeons with me and Nanaki so they were use to us always being together, however; some of the raid members were a bit elitists (though we were a casual raid guild) and wanted me to bring <top pet here> However I flattly refused, and told them Nanaki and I were glued at the hip. Luckily some of the other guildies backed me up and we started raiding, after the first raid it was clear my pet knew max ranks of all its abilities (I'd managed to learn every single pet ability and lv before that unique and awsome feature was removed), and I clearly knew how to use my pet. Nanaki was accepted.
Time goes on, guild fall apart and get absorbed into other guilds, now most of my guildies are in a bigger yet still casual/semi-seriouse raid guild, and I was happy that there were enough old guild members in the raid group that I was allowed to use Nanaki without issue.
When Cata hit I was devistated that Nanaki had become a slobberchop dog, and so I stuck him on the back page (later released), tamed a white fox and started questing in Vashj'ir, hit 81 tamed terropene, and then started camping tanaris for Slaverjaw. After taming him on the 2nd?day of camping I just didnt really feel that bond anymore, so he was left in the stables for a while. After the sound on my comouter was fixed, I decided to try using Nanaki again, and after the first time I heard him laughing as he crushed through the bones of my enemies, that connection came rushing back! He is back to being my partner again, and we hit lv 85 together.
I tamed Koroma but havent used him yet, to busy mass murdering and laughing with my best buddy to worry about other pets!
My BF stopped playing long time ago now...about half a year after we transfered our "mains" to the same server as my hunter, since the time synced up much better and the server want so dead when we where on.
Pic was taken back while questing in Winterspring
I liked the red on white contrast. (my hair is now purple, same style thoug hand my armor matches more) XD

My BF stopped playing long time ago now...about half a year after we transfered our "mains" to the same server as my hunter, since the time synced up much better and the server want so dead when we where on.

Re: Which of your pets is the most special to you?
I've put some thought into this and I think the pet that is most special to me is my own white lion Shinigami.
I knew I wanted him from the time I saw the skin but I didn't know about Echeyakee so I had to wait until 60 where my uncle helped me tame him. I didn't come up with the name and didn't even understand the reference until a while later. He was my only pet that I used from 60 to 70 (BC was the current). He went all through each quest, a few dungeons and even Kara when my guild decided to take me. When WoTLK opened up, he was still at my side, plowing through the scourge as I whined about the amount of xp it took to level (if only i knew how Cata was going to be!). But when I hit 76 I HAD to have Loque and so "Shinikitty" as I lovingly referred to him as, took a backseat when Loque was brought home. And at 80 when Beast Mastery was NOT a dungeon spec (silly people) Loque sat in the stable and Shinigami came back out as my dungeon parter. Back then you could only have 5 pets and when I cycled through which pets could absolutely NOT go and which were an easy release, Shinigami stayed through each re-shuffle, considering my own favorite tanker is my Pustulio and even he had to go at one time (I brought him back, he wasn't quite the same but the love is still there). But again when Cata hit, I found the mobs hard to conquer and stuck with Tenacity pets ONLY and leveled them before each else. Shinigami is currently and sadly as I left him, level 80. I plan to change that and take him to 85.
Today I have my stables organized by importance of pets. By which I would be willing to let go, the very first slot reserved for the one I would NEVER part with, and here Shinigami reigns over all the others, my rares sitting further down the ladder of importance. I truly believe that if the stables went down to one slot each, he would stick by my side.
Sorry for the wall of text paragraph
