The Ultimate Irony

Unread post by Dakona »

The worst DPS spec is the only one that makes the coolest looking pets relevant. I really hope BM becomes the best DPS spec again someday, my poor Loque is getting stiff from being in the stable all the time.

4.0.6 is soon.

Hang in there, and stick with the spec you enjoy playing. Don't be forced into playing a spec that you don't enjoy.

I need more hunters, IMO.

This week, according to Boubouille. :)

I'm not hoping it'll be the best spec, just that we won't have that "ugh you play X spec" bias. I'd like the three specs to be equal (as equal as they can be, ya know).

There will always be that stigma when you're playing a pure DPS class, I'm afraid. That said, 4.0.6 will be a significant improvement over "ugh you play the single worst DPS spec there is  ".

The thing is though, BM is not the worst DPS spec there is as of now... It really isn't that bad. Just because SV, another of our trees, is ridiculously OP atm, doesn't mean that we are fail-mode dps for being BM, just that we aren't doing the best our class can... BM really isn't that weak right now.

There is an analysis or two of the best numbers on World of Logs showing that BM hunters are pulling the lowest numbers. Despite the validity of this as a measure of how good BM DPS is, you will doubtlessly have players using this as grounds for insisting that you raid as SV or not raid at all.

It's not the numbers that are of concern to me, but rather that they've given BM and MM DPs a pretty bad stigma right now. It's the stigma that leads to raid leaders insisting 'SV or GTFO'.

Fortunately, following 4.0.6, said numbers will be irrelevant, leaving you free to use whichever spec you please.

here's one of those sites. im linking the 25man Heroic charts, these are like the world top 100 or so hardcore raiding guilds.

http://raidbots.com/dpshistory/Overall/25H/

BM is in the middle of the pack along with SV, MM is at the very bottom with sub rogues.

i dont look at normal raid numbers b/c bads and undergeared ppl are in the mix and skew the numbers. looking at heroic only numbers will show you what your class/spec is capable of.

Agrees. I like survival and used it through WOTLK even though MM was king. So the best to hope for for everyone is to have all three be viable so that everyone can play what suits them best. :)

Well, as almost all hunters i like BM the most because of our pets. We collect them, we camp them... we have epic and sad moments. This week i was testing BM in hc dungeons... never did that before and was surprised how well it went. I did 12-13k dps with no problems. But there are some encounters, where your pet can't contribute to your overall dmg.

Almost 3 weeks of tests on PTR i decided that after the patch i go MM. I simply have fun with that spec not to mention to see aimed shot crits almost 50k. ;)

And most important is: have fun playing the spec you like the most.
